  • OK, all of you that are saying bands are not as good as free weights, google ElastiTone, check out their bands, up to 135.5 kg of resistance, and then, if you want to put your money were your mouth is, try beating the orange challenge, all you have to do is 20 bicep curls with the orange band!!! Thats it! If yu think bands are crappy then you should be able to that and more easy! Right! If you can, elastitone will refund 100% of the purchase price, so go on, stop talkin nonsense and try it!

  • I respect your opinion but i Guarantee ur wrong, bands are better than free weights. I still use them for certain exercises. But bands will give you fantastic results. You need to do more research bro.

  • I don't agree with you Sir that these bands are, as you put it, "crappy sh***". Most of us don't have time and money to get Gym subscription nor the space to get large number of free weights. These bands can at least be used as a last resort. they are better than nothing. they can effectively be used along with free weights to create different kind of resistance movements that can't otherwise be created using only free weights.

  • what about linear variable resistance? and triggering fast twitch muscle fiber ab with bands? i've used isometric band workouts to develop speed.

well you did say its different between Olympic athletes and the general public. i do agree that it is useless in the manner the general public uses it. nevertheless you make an excellent point.

  • I am training bodyliastic band from long time now and if you see me you will undrstand that i can outperform many atlete, because of the freedom of mouvment that its giving me ..

  • amazing video!! i thought i was the only one who was so opinionated on these pointless bands!! so let me ask you what your opinion on tony horton and the p90x, he's a firm believer on the bands.

  • Everything you're saying about resistance bands applies to machines like the Bowflex and Total Gym, yes? I have a Bowflex, although I also do freeweight training. Should I throw out my Bowflex?

  • That 80's look is so cool. So you like cable machines? Seems like they're pretty consistent in resistance throughout the ROM also.

  • Great video Josh and I agree with you 100% but I gotta defend JC a little bit. I may be wrong but I remember hearing about how JC called Paul Chek out for advocating doing sqats on a bosu or physio ball. Is this true and what is your reaction?

  • I respect your expertise, but I am a believer that any movement is better than no movement.

I believe that eccentric and constrict movements are great to train with the bands.

Everybody has all this philosophy this good this is not, but I will use my bands, DB, MB, Machines and cables that is the beauty of training.

  • It is concentric! As well, you can do what you do, but if you really watched the video and understand anatomy, you would not contradict yourself in our response! But I appreciate your honesty and willing to stick to your guns!

  • what do you think of the total gym?

  • very good video. i just do not like bands .

  • thats why i only use a resistance band after Ive done all my eccentric concentric movements

i find its a good way to finish of and get a good pump

but as far as those "experts" go stating you can do a hole workout with them...completely useless.

  • Nice spot on tubing for rehab and traditional movement training.

What are your thoughts on using the tubes at a constant distance without an emphasis on concentric movements rather quasi-isometric movements? Assisting movements or resisting them as need be to enhance movement quality.

Additionally moving in circular patterns around the point of attachment with dynamic torso bracing while emphasizing contralateral hand to foot integrity?

Also, What is the blue light on your left?

  • Whats the blue light on the right?

  • what about T.O.? Apparently he uses these things, or does he really?

  • Ya....with some drugs added in!

  • I don't know. He probably uses just free weights.

  • love the look Josh! haha...i work in a physio/chiropractic facility and its sad that I have no choice but to give the injured clients tubing exercises when they have a shoulder injury...its bullshit...and i totally agree with you...the kinesiologists just make up exercises on the spot....

  • Give them off the record advice or a links to this channel...?

  • LOL Nice Job man. I bet many people have those things lying around.

  • # 1, the colors LOL!

  • What is your opinion of the bowflex, I feel the technology is similar to rubber bands. Linear loading, with de-empysis on eccentric contraction.

  • Thumbs down for many reasons!

  • Yeah I agree. I have one, and the power rods wear out lose their resistance over time. They say they don't, but they do. I guess the best thing to use is free weights, right?

  • what are some examples of closed chain exercises with the shoulder?

  • Well, it really depends on the client and what type of shoulder problem they have, as well as with what joint (there are 5) of the shoulder. But anything with the distal segment is fixed and the proximal segment moves over it...horsestance, loaded crawling, pull up on total gym...there are many others that I have come up with, but I have my own name for them.
