  • I'll stick with my 95 F-150 Smart cars are Frigging death traps.

  • Smart car not so smart on the HWY. Great on gas, bad in a high velocity car accident if it involves a big car, truck, suv, etc. If a smart car hit me head on at even 45 - 50 miles per hour I would seriously question if the driver would live. I drive a 2010 Toyota Tundra. My bumper would not be hitting his bumper. My bumper would be hitting the smart car at its headlight area. It would be like a feather weight boxer trying to fight a heavy weight. It would be a disaster for the feather weight!

  • @Bryanpike72 This is why I drive a 7500 lbs truck.

  • @MadMaxx61

Nice! I know I feel safe and I ride in comfort in my truck!

  • if you put wings on that it would fly away at 70mph!

  • This was the older smart car, the newer one is much safer. And it is very safe for its size, and most people would have it as a second car and would drive a max of 40mph, and they would have the newer, much safer one. The new diesel one also gets 80mpg in the city, and 88mpg on the motorway.

  • @omendark123 Yes it is the older one but the new ones are not much better what is the point of a car that gets great MPG but will kill you...

I will stick with my Big truck that gets over 25MPG on the HWY and is 7500+lbs and does not feel like it will fall to parts.

  • @MadMaxx61 Erm. The smart car is still safe, but it is more ideal for a city car. But in places like america, where most of the road travel consists of highways, it wouldn't be as ideal. But in other places, like in the UK, it is much more ideal, where the average speed driven is about 35mph...

  • from seventy miles per hour...to knoot in whan second lol

  • i didnt know it could go 70mph

  • Great, it can hit a wall at 70. In most head on collisions, the combined speed would be almost double that. Show this thing hitting concrete at 110 and I might be impressed. But I'm still not gonna buy one-- it's a coffin on wheels. I can't spend the money I save on gas if I'm dead.

  • @jmn120176 combined speed doesn't double even if you hit someone going 70mph too

  • @andruha11234 In a head-on collision, the other vehicle is moving towards you. Both vehicles absorb the momentum of the other. Combined speed is an issue ignored in this video. Tell you what: take one of the smarts to a wall at 70, then take one to another vehicle moving towards you at 70. Have the mortician tell me which is worse.

  • @jmn120176 i never said it was safer, lol I would never drive one myself. I just noted that if you go 60mph and the other guy is going 60mph and you hit him straight on, its not the same as hitting something at 120mph.

The first car has to absorb the kenetic energy from 60 MPH or 1/2 mass * velocity^2. Likewise for the second car.

At 120 MPH, the velocity squared term for the kenetic energy is MUCH larger then two times the 60 MPH kenetic energy.

  • poor smart......:(

  • Anything is safe...as long as the one behind the wheel is responsible..But accidents are sometimes unpreventable...gotta watch out for the other driver... I personally would not want to be involved in an accident in any thing let alone a smart car...

Smart cars are great for zipping around town.. Not sure if my big ass would fit in one though LOL...So I will stick to my 65 Chevy C20...

  • You really dont even have to worry about this because your smart car probably wont even hit 70.

  • Shame they cut the technical part of this clip, they were surprised at how well this car coped, the occupants would have survived. a lot of bigger cars don't do as well as that. It is not the size that matters!. I don't drive a smart I only own motorbikes

    They are much better!?!?!

  • Bull crap they did somthin to the car. The car is the safest cars out there. Who in there dumb mind is going to hit a wall.

  • What a lovely thing to see! :¬)

  • smart for2 is a very safe car if you can find the full vid of this you will see the doors still open and shut properly even after this crash

  • @gmh6477 You would also know that the driver and passenger would be legless, along with numerous internal injuries. Seriously, I know ECO minded folks like this death trap so be it. But a Jetta TDI would be a much better choice, not much more money, way better safety and cooler to be seen in! Where I come from, we all laugh and make jokes about the So called smart car, and if you seen driving a POS prius?! OMG even better!

  • the car is just one big crumple zone.

  • @joeyconservative

    yes pretty much...

  • WOW! THIS IS AMAZING....wait.... your brain is still going from 70-0 in .2 seconds.... thats NOT AMAZING!

  • are they trying to encourage or discourage buying smart cars? =]

  • that is bad ass

  • @chuunackaaa

cause they are all scared to die in it

  • Now they just have to do that to the rest of them and the world would be a lot less gay...XD !!

  • 70-0 1 sec 0-70 10 minutes

  • Hilarious to watch.

  • I didnt know you could get a smart car to go that fast.....

  • from 70 to 0 in 10 inches

  • its very safe.

  • theres no one driving it...

  • americans are retards

  • thats pretty damn impressive for a car that size

  • OWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • smart car = only 70 horsepower? no thank you.

  • Yes, but it's all relative. The car is very light and compact compared to other cars, it's surprisingly zippy.

  • yeah i understand what you mean. i drive a chevy cobalt which is pretty small although not nearly as small as a smart 4 2, and it has like 149 hp so the engine is weak but its really light which makes it pretty quick

  • Cobalts are shit.... I Own a Cobalt and I have Owned a 2006 fortwo CDI, I made a BIG mistake when I traded it in for a fucking chev!

  • im gonna have to agree with you on that. mine is only like 2 years old and its already had leaks and all kinds of crap wrong. hopefully the warranty doesn't end before something important breaks. my next car definitely wont be american unless its a muscle car.

  • @wildmusic1

Not all American cars are badly designed, but you very much have to pick and choose wisely among them.

If you are talking about the Cavalier replacement, the Cobalt, uhm I don't mean to be mean but the rest of the world could see that one coming a mile off?

  • in all these videos, these smart cars bounce off stuff like they're rubber :P

  • Never try this with any car. Chances of surviving are minuscule even in a suv. Concrete is a very bad oponent in traffic.

  • Stupid Assholes get in accidents, and cause them. a car is only as safe as it's driver.

  • stupid concept car... not really safe!

  • I didn't know clown cars went that fast...

  • the moral here is don't hit a wall in any car at 70mph

  • the kinetic energy/g-forces/speed change will kill or hurt anyone in that shitbox real bad.

  • actualy the test revealed that a person in the car would live..

  • if you watched the video, you would know that if that happened the person would live

    fool

  • did he live heres his percentage 99% of dieing 1% or living

  • these are so small a light breeze could blow it over :D

  • The moral: Don't hit a wall in a smart car going 70.

    Learned

  • it doesnt matter that the car survived, it has so little give that it would cause much higher g forces to act on your body since it goes from moving to stopped in a shorter time than a normal car would. a normal car has larger crumple zones, and so there is more time between being moving and being stopped, so less g forces at any given time.

  • Smart cars rock...if you find the rest of this video you see the aftermath and the car absorbs a TON of shock..and it's frame is so strong it doesnt even bend and the door still opens...its a pretty safe car under the circumstances

  • No thanks...I'll stick with my big-ass Impala!

  • lol i love it

  • thats gonna leave a mark...........

  • i'm so never gonna buy a smart

  • lol u retard. This movie shows how good the car absorbs an impact

look at it the place where u sit is intact.

  • Actually it doesn't absorb impact at all, it doesn't even have crumple zones.

  • you got yourself a smart, i see.. well hope you never crush (cause it will hurt like hell in that caseX__X)

  • actually it does.. its egg shape design allows exceptional strength as u can see the middle is still intact.. and where the force is pushed out when siding panels and what not are blown away from it

  • i saw the actual episode. and the car was so good that they could open the door. crumple zones work so good in that car

  • Niiiiice!

  • one word owned!

  • qee jotoo es el videoo ..
