Dodge place CVT in the Caliber and its a train reck, lucky if you get 80,000 miles out of a transmission. There is no rebuilt kit for it so no shop will rebuilt or warranty the transmission. It must be replaced at a tune of $6,000 or about 4,000 pounds its a nightmare!
@fordtrucks123ify Yes sir and what really piss me off you cant even check the fluid levels with a dip stick need a chart and a special tool. This means its a $80 diagnostic charge to check my fluid levels please GARBAGE!
@RalphdaCuban yeah..they just are'nt worth the money unless you get rid of the car right after your warranty goes out on the thing...they will cover the trans if ur on the warranty if u are, they wont cover it
@bmwrocks325 I doubt it would be that bad. The N-CVT wasn't that bad (although I don't get great mileage out of mine) and this is meant to be significantly better.
@bmwrocks325 Uh? it's a direct drive, and infinite ratios... it's technically the least power loss as it's direct. Problem is they drive weird... it's efficient at the cost of drivabilty.
@emkawarior the problem is that they dont tell you that the pullies wear out very fast and if you have to replace the pullies you have to replace the whole transmision and since the cvt design in still relativity rare it is very expensive ti fix the price aproxamently 5000 dollars and that is no exaggeration.
@hubcap128 i have a 2000 blue sss wth the hyper cvt & 6speed manual shift and it kick ass, i made my co worker who drives a 2006 honda civic eat dirt and then some. by the way there is no button to push!
@RODANJAE yeah it does kick but until it breaks and the price to fix a cvt is above 5000 dollars so when your car warrenty goes out you highly recomend you get rid of that car...trust me.
mine went out and repairs cost 8,500 i hate cvt

So what does the manual shift mode do, refuse to change pulley diameter until you click the + or -? lol
dwayne0t 7 months ago
@dwayne0t I believe what it does is just mimic the feeling of manual by like you said not changing the diameter till you push the button to.

There needs to be a new video with the xtronic cvt being explained. Sometimes I feel like ripping the trans out of my alti just to see what's inside.

it seems simplier than a regular tranny.

Nice video but just a bit dated. Nissan shift to the XTronic CVT in 2006 which can handle their 3.5 liter engine. Look at the Maxima and Murano.
