taking the Vitamin Supplement, it might be that. I have seen a medical doctor and she has raised the Iron Dose and in a months time, I need to do another Blood Test.
Please help me, My ferritin was 40 and after supplementing with Iron Tablets, my Ferritin level went to 33. Ferritin levels must be 40 to keep hair and 70 for hair to grow. I was previously vegetarian and changed my diet including Meats and Proteins to increase my Ferritin levels, but instead I am 1 stone heavier. What is wrong, I have no GI problems or malabsoprtion disorder. I am now on 1200 mg of Iron and I feel so depressed.
First seek advice from a medical doctor. Get a second opinion if you have too.
You should understand that certain herbs can prohibit the absorption of certain vitamins, drugs, etc and possibly iron tablets as well. Smoking can also block the absorbtion certain vitamins etc.
I would stop taking the herbal suppliments until your iron leveles go back. Find out which herbs are doing this. Cont. to take your iron pills get a doctor's advice.
@tickyul over the past three years doctors have also been unable to determine why ive had anemia and it has definitely been a major cause of frustration for me. I assumed that it was inadequate intake of iron rich foods as i was a vegetarian for a few years leading up to the anemia. although even with a change of diet the anemia has not resolved. I am currently being tested for celiac disease though, as malabsorbtion could be a cause of anemia.
Angstrom iron is 99.90% absorbed by the body. yes, it does taste nasty, real mineral supplement will taste like the mineral, NOT CHOCOLATE!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU once again for this product. I had blood work done in November and was told that I was anemic. I am happy to report that two months later Im no longer listed as being anemic. I could have never managed such great feedback without this product. I would happily recommend it to anyone with iron deficiencies!
my iron level a year ago was 12, now it is 21... not much of an improvement. Ive been changing my diet to incorporate a lot of foods rich in iron and taking supplements. but it sometimes can take over a year for iron levels to return to normal, and i guess until it reaches a normal state, hair will not begin to grow back.
i have had the exact same problems. i have iron deficiency anemia, was diagnosed 6 months ago. I have been on supplements since then. its absolutely horrible. i have even gained a lot of weight by changing my diet to include more protein and red meat. I have a lot of dizziness and weakness... all day long. my question is ...Has anyone else had severe hair loss from their anemia, i have lost more than half my thick head of hair and it was devastating. i have really low self esteem.
@artistawake Hmm i am a 19year old male and my doctor tells me i have anemia. I too notice thinning hair at the front, and they seem to fall off easier then before. Im currently back on iron supplements. My hair loss has not been as major as yours, stay strong tho.
@artistawake Have they determined why you are anemic, this is probably one of the most important steps in treatment. I have had anemia for over 8 years and still have not got a real clear answer.
I have recently had to start taking iron suplements prescribed by my dentist. I feel soo exhausted, tired and dizzy. I have been getting headaches alomst every day. I have never felt this bad before. Saw my doctor today who didnt seem at all concerned about my symptoms and told me to continue with my tablets. I am worried I might pass out/faint at work. My ferrtin levels are 6.
Omg. dont let the iron deficiency go any further, take the iron suplements daily and eat foods rich in iron. maybe about after a year or less u'll get better :P my level is 9 :o
@JustmeKasie Part 5: Also if a woman has her labs taken within 9 days after her menstrual cycle, the results will yield a false-positive; in other words if you are schedule for lab work wait at least 9 days after your period. Finally what can one take that is safe, again that depends on the cause; but to generalize one can take unsulphured blackstrap molasses and organic salt free black olives. Maybe I will post on my channel a naturopathic approach to anemia in the later future.
@4chango ive heard of blackstrap molasses :) and thanks for all the info! i agree completely with iron tabs being toxic. my body just didnt seem right when i took them so i stopped taking them and altered to sunbathing haha. ill check out your channel :D thnx again!
@JustmeKasie Plant based iron is inferior to animal based iron, not as well absorbed. Try any of the various yummy animal organs.....liver, spleen, lungs, heart, kidneys...etc.............they are really yummo!
@JustmeKasie Part 4: Just by taking small doses of the following toxic metals your body will be able to produce the same “false positive” as taking ferrous sulfate: lead, mercury, cadmium and nickel. As for what to do about anemia, keep in mind that there are about 400 types of anima. Some are the results of natural iron deficiency, estrogen imbalance, thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies or toxic metals poisoning.
@JustmeKasie Part 3: This is why after taking iron supplements ones hemoglobin and hematocrit will appear higher. The problem is that these readings are false in the sense that this increase is not indicative of improvement, but rather the body’s way of creating excessive cells to flush out the toxic waste.
@4chango Uh, so let me get this straight. When I take Ferrous Fumarate and my Anemia symptoms improve within days..................that is not really a health improvement..........it is detox???? Well, with that thinking I guess I might as well stop taking it and go back to feeling like crap.........BRAVO!
@JustmeKasie Part 2: The other issue with iron supplements is that this heavy metal competes with other trace minerals especially zinc and calcium. It for this reason that fortified foods and iron supplements have been link to infections, Parkinson, ALS, Huntington, premature aging, cataract, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer, leukemia and lymphatic cancers. Plus keep in mind that when a toxic metal is placed in your body, the system will produce red blood cells at a faster rate.
@JustmeKasie Part 1: The first indicator that artificial iron supplements are dangerous is the fact that it is not absorbed well by the body. People who take iron develop constipation, green hard stool and most physicians inform their patients to take the supplement with an acid forming substance, in order for it to be broken down to a slight absorbable state- such an ascorbic acid.
why did your dentist prescribe anemia? Did he just look at your gums? My doctor doesn't seem to care about my symptoms either, but despite taking a ton of iron, nothing seems to get better, almost worse. My fatigue is really starting to impair my everyday activities, where I cannot even stay standing for more than a few minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out.
hi, the lack of iron caused swelling of the inside of my mouth and tongue. I saw a dental specialist at the hospital who thought it might be iron related so ran some tests. I feel soo much better this last month. Still occasional headaches and dizziness but nothing like before. The tablets seem to be working for me.
Have you had lots of tests done? Could yours be thyroid related aswell? Might be worth getting a second opinion from anothr doctor. Iv increased the iron in my diet, started drinking more orange juice and also avoid drinking too much tea as it affects iron absorption. I hope you get better soon
I've had some tests done, including one thyroid test, but I think it showed normal results. I'm not sure which thyroid test to get, as there are several. I really need to get more blood work done as my symptoms are worsening. Is it any kind of tea? Do you happen to know what it is about tea that decreases iron absorption? I hadn't heard that one before, but love to have a cup of herbal or green tea fairly frequently. I sure hope the iron tablets start helping.
It is black tea that is the main problem, because the tannins in it inhibit iron absorption. Green tea and herbal teas have less tannins so I think they should be ok.
Hm, what about wine then? Wine has plenty of tannins and I drink that fairly frequently as well. I've never heard that before, but thanks for passing along the advice.
Now I know why I get cold sores in my tongue and mouth all the time.....turns out I didnt know all about what I am dealing with right now :(

@artistawake
Are you taking any herbal suppliments? That may be a possible reason (if its preventing the absorbtion of iron).
Also smoking may have an effect as well.
