  • He is such a good talker! Bean was watching Casey!

  • Wow! Casey really is a magical bird! And very handsome too.

Used to work in pet store, MaCaw, Cockatoo & African Grey could speak, but none of the Budgies...MaCaw, Sam, would dance every time I sang - he really loved Hello Dolly! He would sway in time with the music...

I agree with you Nancy, birds are smarter than most peeps think.

  • omg that's amazing. wow..

our dog bradley is camera shy.

  • Isn't he just the cutest when he talks Charlene!

We know at 13 he won't be around much longer..that is old for a budgie...but he's still flying around and talking. I think he's still with us because he is so spoiled. LOL

  • Awwe Nancy...your Budgie is brilliant!

    Purdy Casey!!!

    Mwah! Mwah!

  • He is so lovable...and I think quite old for a budgie now...he's almost 13.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Casey is too cute, Nancy! I used to always have budgies.. My last one (that we lost when he escaped his cage during our move to TX) was Max's best buddy and they used to preen each others heads, if you can believe that!! LOL I think birds are smarter than some give them credit for.. Mine say things at the appropriate time also and in the right context!! :D

  • Yes Judy...I think they understand and comprehend much more than we think they do! LOL

  • Aww...I never tire of watching this video. Casey is such a sweetie pie, even though he tries to steal the stones out of my rings..lol. Thanks Teed. Luv Ya!

  • LOL...isn't that funny eh? And he's still learning new words... but he looks so old....hardly any feathers now.

    Love ya~Teed

  • Casey is awesome, I love this video he is amazing.

  • Casey is Beautiful! I Love his cage too. He sure likes that mirror. I think I heard his say "Twish1999" lol Very smart Bird! I really enjoyed watching this. Thank You! Rad

  • Nancy, thank you so much for adding this wonderful video as a response here :-)

I loved this video when you first uploaded it and i still love it now.

HUGS and more HUGS to you both

    :-)

  • cute bird nancy! i was actually looking for you LAST YEAR "new years" video, to see if you made one last year. Evidently you didn't.

  • He's a gorgeous bird and you seem like a very caring owner. =)

I had a lutino budgie (all yellow) named Coco. We got her when she was six weeks old - I was four at the time - and she died a few years ago (aged 13). I still carry a photo of her on a toy car in my purse; my friends think I'm crazy, but we developed such a strong bond!

It's now almost three years on & I'm finally considering getting another bird. I'd like a male albino called Basil or a female Umbrella 'Too called Blanche. =D

  • Thank you so much for telling me about Coco. Casey is just about 12 now. He's starting to feel his age, I can tell. When you're so close to a pet you just 'know' these things. I've often thought that I would never be able to get another bird after Casey...but, who knows..maybe in time. I'm glad you're thinking of getting another. It's not replacing the one you had..because you never could, but rather showing your love for these tiny lovable friends.

    Heart hugs~Nancy

  • Thank you roc..glad you enjoyed!! :-)

  • Casey must be REALLY special!! My Elijah was my first budgie and I can't imagine LIFE without him. I hope that Elijah will live as long as Casey.

  • Hello Chris...your Elijah looks to be pure white as well. Have fun with him!!

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Wow, that is a great video of your Casey. Beautiful budgie, too! Looks like he is living in a castle within a castle! You have a lovely home, and Casey's house looks like a budgie's dream house!! He talks so clear. ...

  • . I had a Yellow Naped Amazon, who would call out to me as I put my makeup on in the morning, "Momma, I love you....!!" and I would answer him back and say, "I love you, too!!" and he would giggle with delight... He also would see me eating something that he recognized as something he likes, and he would say.."MMMmm, Want some."... Yes, I think they learn word association, or something.

  • Oh that Amazon sounds wonderful Mari!!! You know they are so much like little children..and most certainly become members of the family very quickly. Thank you for your great comment and stopping by to enjoy my Casey.

    Hugs to you~Nancy

  • Oh my gosh Casey just blew me away! That was incredible. I could understand him and your right he seems to use the words properly:)))Thats the sign of an awesome owner Nancy. You really took the time to help him develop to his full potential. Casey is lucky to have you!!!

  • Thank you so much Sis! I feel I am the lucky one having chosen a bird who would learn to talk so quickly. I thin it is because I got him when he was so young. Thank you so much for your great comments.

    Hugs.

  • Nancy that was absolutely super and yes his voice and his intonation was very clear. He sounds so like you it's really funny. My great grandma's parrot was a wonderful talker who used words in context and had a sense of humour. 5 star fave can't wait to show the kids. Cheers, Lesley

  • Ah thank you Lesley!! I'm pleased you favourited it so the kids can see Casey. Other people say he sounds like me as well. LOL.

Thank you so much for watching and enjoying my little feathered friend, Casey.

    Hugs, across the pond.

  • Just showed hubby and the kids twice they loved it so much! It's brilliant how they mimic. Max spotted that Casey says his words in the right order, he's no bird brain. L x

  • OMG Nancy, he is the sweetest thing and so talented! I didn't have any trouble understanding him. I always used to have parakeets, but now have the cockatiel and parrot. Mine both talk also and, like you say, they do it in the right context and say the appropriate things. They are just amazing aren't they?

  • Hi Judy, Yes they are most amazing and very loving. Thanks for stopping in for a look-see.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Aw Nancy, that is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I especially love him looking in the mirror and saying Casey Bird. He kinda sorta sounds like an old time radio announcer hee hee xoxoxoxoxoxox

  • Yes, he sure knows his name Shelly, but he says his name is Casey Bird...Bird being the last name. LOL.

    Thanks and hugs.

  • Oh Nancy! Thank you for posting this remarkable, astonishing little guy. I believe you that he comments appropriately. What a joy!

  • Ah thank you so much for watching Cindy...

    Glad you enjoyed.

    Hugs.

  • Thanks Larry!

    A Macaw...how wonderful!!!

    Hugs to ya!

  • Somebody with your name is sending out spam.. I know it's NOT you,, just be aware you may have been cloned.. :(

  • I know I have been Rob and I notified YouTube and am uploading a video now.

    Thanks and hugs.

  • nancy.. It's an honour I suppose.. but a most unwanted one indeed.. I hope you get it sorted!! When I checked the channel out it wasn't a direct clone.. just a name copy.. but that is bad enough.. :P

  • I had a little blue and white parakeet named Tweetie.

I left the window open one evening and there was a draft coming through and Tweetie was gone in the morning when I checked on him.

He liked to talk to me and say his name and then kiss my lip. Love parakeets. o7jimmy

  • Yes they are such little clever birds. I love them too.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • i couldn't help but smile when he said "watchu doing? come here & gimme a kiss!"

i understand what you mean when you say it's like a person & people will say it's just birds good memory but you can really feel a connection sometimes =)

  • Thank you. :-)

  • Wow. I love those birds. There so cute and soft. IT seems like your a very good owner.

  • Thank you..I feel that if I treat my birds right I will be rewarded for it.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • I Made a vid dedicated to you yesterday Hon...

  • You did? I'm sorry..missed it..I'll go check.

    Big hugs.

  • Wow you made a big hit with this one eh!

    Pappy said it....

  • Casey made a big hit for himself!!

Maybe I should turn my account over to him? LOL

    Thanks Pappy Stu.

  • Thank you Annie!!

    Love ya, Nancy

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Casey is fantastic!

I used to love mine when I was young! He never spoke, but was like part of the family.

  • Hi Arthur, yes they become like part of the family!

    Thanks and hugs.

  • Nice Pet!

  • Dunross as always, thank you for your comment.

    Hugs.

  • wow, I had a budgie when I was in high school and he never talked as much as Casey! He is quite a talker!

  • Ah thank you for stopping in Lori!

    Hugs

  • that is sweet

  • Thank you so much!

    Hugs.

  • We have the same problem with Basil, he goes 'schtum' every time I bring the camera near him.. 11 years is an impressive age for a budgie, I must say! I used to breed them, now we only have the one, and he starts to sing and talk as soon as the Tv goes on.. :) Casy's one beautiful budgie, by the way.. :D

  • Budgies are very intelligent birds, and are known to use the words and phrases they know in the correct way.. I guess they associate certain situations with certain words... That's my theory! One of my 'babies' which my parents then had for many many years, was an allover yellow female, with red eyes.. she didn't talk, but was perfectly tame.. :) I miss breeding budgies.. :P

  • As I said earlier Rob..I would only buy one from a breeder so I know what I'm getting. The breeder was going to keep Casey as a show bird but I got lucky when I talked him in to letting me buy him instead. LOL.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • Yes I thought 11 was quite old for a budgie but it is hard to tell Rob as he acts like a young fellow! Seems they do talk more when there is noise around them. Maybe you could get some vid of Basil to share with us.

  • I have tried severall times.. but I won't give up.. :) :)

  • Nancy, how adorable, thanks for sharing,

    ==GILLY

  • Hi Gill!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Now that was excellent he can speak better than me. Pets are like little kids and I heard every word, Give us a kiss LOL

My Nan had a budgie but he.she never talked, all I know is you put a blanket over cage and they go asleep.

More Casey please, could be a series.

    Hugs from James

  • Yes maybe I should do more video with Casey James..I'll see about that. Glad you could understand him.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Oh I can talk to the animals a modern day Dr Doolitle.

Seriously that was fantastic you'll have Barrington saying Give us a Kiss Next.

I am sorry for his rude comment, I will pinch his cheeks later.

  • Oh Nancy I want one can he say Boobies yet LOL

sorry I mean warts, sorry for late response only seen this now.

    Barrington

    xx

  • No Barrington...we don't want Casey picking up any habits do we? LOL. Glad you could stop in and have a look at Casey. Hope you could understand him.

    Hugs to you Sir Barrington.

  • Your parakeet is wonderful.

  • Thank you so much Jimmy! :-)

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Oh Nancy, Casey is a gift to you!

It is rare to get a budgie that can do what he does.

I had a budgie too for 9 yrs. Only reason he didn't live longer was the cat from next door got into our house and snatched him. Got him back but he was pretty punctured. He used to have his own spot at the kitchen table and eat breakfast with me before school! He LOVED soggy corn flakes haha.

  • Hi Bea! Isn't he just adorable?! I don't know why I didn't think of putting him on here before. I feel so badly about what happened to your budgie! How sad. Yes, Casey likes to come and eat with us and funny thing is he knows not at dinner time. At breakfast and lunch he makes the mess of a two year old child, so we want one meal in peace and he knows not to bother us then. LOL.

    Hugs and thanks.

  • I've been away from YT for quite awhile; this vid is like a 'welcome back' gift. Casey is incredibly awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this. I think he has a big vocabulary to match his big heart - he obviously loves you. :)

Just one Q: How do you paper-train a bird?

    Thanks again for sharing.

  • Welcome back TJ!!

As far as paper training-budgies go to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes. We kept taking him back repeatedly when it was time. Since he has perches outside the cage with papers on the floor below we made him wait until he had gone and them brought him back to our finger again. You do this over and over and after awhile they know why they need to go back to the perch outside the cage. Casey will sit on the perch and keep looking down at the paper to see if he has gone.

    Hugs

  • Thanks for the 'welcome back'. :) And thanks for the response to my Q. Wow! I need to try it. I don't like keeping my bird caged (cockateil) but had no clue that birds can be trained that way. My feathered friend thanks you!

  • Thanks and good luck with the paper training!!

  • Oh, i never saw smething like that! Casey is amazing, my brother was watching with his mouth wide open and that is very rare, lol! Congratulations for having such a talented member in the family! Kiss!

  • Thank you Felix! I hope you could understand him. He says over 100 words and just never seems to stop talking..unless I point the camera right up close at him. LOL. Tell your brother to close his mouth now. :-0

    Thanks and hugs.

  • REMARKABLE!!!!Casey , Gimme Kiss, kiss, kiss, come here, thank you much, whatcho doin?, good boy!! OH MY GOSH! Unreal. I noticed the proper context before you pointed that out. AMAZING! I've had several parakeets and read about their limited ability to talk, but have never heard of one so verbose. He's awesome! -sue

  • Yes Sue he is very remarkable and his memory over the 11 years is incredible as well. All those words he has learned but never forgotten. I think you heard more words than anyone so far. LOL. I've had many many parakeets and this is only the second one that really caught on to talking and I think that is because he was so young when I got him.

    Thanks and hugs

  • So does Reid!!!

Glad you stopped in for a listen.

    Hugs.

  • kiss kiss casey love ya

    christine jessica

  • Hi Christine...Hi Jessica.

I think Casey likes to be on YouTube.

He is still talking out there..only louder!!!

Maybe he will be more used to the camera now. LOL

Hugs to you both from me, and kisses from Casey.

  • Solo, my hubby will be lovin this video, I sent it to him! He loves bords! We have one but it lives at Solo's moms house because Lil Miss wants to eat the birdie. We arent allowed to have him here in this apt. because of TJs leukemia! HUGS xoxoxoxoxo

  • Hi Peggy! I'm pleased you came by and watched/listened to Casey!

    Give TJ hugs from me.

    Love ya!

  • WOW, CASEY IS AMAZING.

  • Hi Moomay...yes that he is! But I'm afraid he would be too scared to talk around your beautiful cats. LOL.

    Love ya, Nancy

  • He's beautiful! Sort of like a little dove. And I did make out "Come and give me a kiss"!

  • Yes he is a lot like a miniature dove. Glad you could understand his little bird voice talk.

    Hugs.

  • Oh Nancy he is a joy...I would love a bird but I have 3 cats..

  • Hello Dolores, I think with the cats if you had a bird it would have to stay inside the cage all the time. Casey spends more time outside the cage than in it. LOL

Thanks for stopping by and hugs.

  • You have an incredible Casey!

  • Thank you so much!!

    Hugs.

  • I kind of have a weird fear of birds but I made it thru the vid! He sounds kind of like a robot! so cute

  • I know some people who have a fear of birds also Lee. We keep him in the cage or put the cage in the other room when they come to visit. That's okay..we understand.

    Big hugs for watching!!!

  • Hi Casey bird! Happy new year. May 2008 bring you good health and yummy treats. I know your getting old but you've hung on this long. I love you buddy!

I'm Casey's big (human) brother Chris and it for real...this bird will talk your ear off!

He is the coolest bird on earth :)

  • Ah Chris...Casey loves you too!!

Remember how he would cling to your glasses! LOL

He may be getting old but he still acts spry.

And still loves to talk. "Baby bird bite bite" ROTFL!!!

    Love ya, Mom

  • Really enjoyed it, Casey is quite the little birdie. looks like you 2 get along great. Personalities in them all. you just have to let go and believe. Not a pet.... but FAMILY! Thanks for sharing that Nancy, Tell the Wiz Hello for me

  • Hi Chris. Wiz would have loved to put him in the act but I wouldn't hear of it!! He's too much of a family pet. Yes..he is family. All the best of 2008 to you and yours!

    Hugs.

  • NANCY! I just POSTed AnD NOteD on Casey's cuUUTenESS, and it didn't TAke! :( .. I said how my dear Gabriel wants an African Grey I've heard were pretty brilliant.. but they look intimidating!;) ..I've never seen an Albino budgie before, but I'm looking forward to meeting your Casey here~ {he just came on the screen noww!}hehe;D

  • I know YouTube has been gobbling the comments lately. I'm afraid I couldn't handle an African Grey. They are beautiful birds but ooooh those claws. LOL Thank you so much for stopping in and watching Casey.

    Hugs

  • How cool that he goes on vacation with you! Most people don't think to take their animals with them.

Casey has such a sweet way about him/her. Is that him saying incoming kiss? That is soooo sweet!

Oh yes! I did enjoy this!!

  • Hi Joyce..yes we take him with us when we go because he needs his fresh food, water and I wouldn't leave him at a place that boards animals as he spends most of his time outside the cage. Oh, he is paper trained! I think what you heard him say was "Come and give me kiss". Sometimes he talks so fast it's hard to catch all of it. LOL. He's in bed now and I can still hear the odd word coming from the cage.

    Thanks and hugs.

  • Oh how cute!

  • Ahhh thank you so much!!!

    Hugs and luv, Nancy

  • he is so cute!!!! i could hear him talking and kissing ;)

i don't know much about parakeets, but he sounds very smart!!!

  • Thank you Robin. Yes he does as much kissing as he does talking I think. LOL

He is smart and a very sweet tempered bird.

    Thank you hugs.

  • What a memorable video capturing what we take for granted day in and day out. He's been the sweetest pet for over a decade and most of his efforts are due to your dedication to his needs. Thanks from HubbyWiz down under!

  • Thank you John/Wiz. Casey came to me at a time when I really needed him. He helped me to recuperate, and I in turn got my strength back, and was rewarded with Casey magically talking to me. A very very special and magical little friend indeed.

    Hugs from the lady upstairs.

  • oh very pretty.

    I love birds.

    HUGGS

  • I know you love birds Lana.

This is a sweet ad loving little guy.

Had him since he was just a few weeks old.

    Thanks for stopping in.

    Hugs.

  • WOW Nancy, at first I thought this was going to be a joke. Budgies aren't known to talk much if at all! WOW you have such a special bird. I think I heard everything it said, I don't believe it came out of a budgie! lol Incredible. Casey talks non stop, you're very lucky indeed Love ya! Pips xoxox

  • Nancy..be careful...Pips could poison Casey with her TEA!

  • Hi Pippy! Yes budgies can be taught to talk. Casey was a fast learner because he was so young when I got him. I know you thought it was going to be another chicken joke. SQUAWK! LOL. Yes, once he gets going he can't stop talking...and his words run into one another but he knows exactly what he's saying.

    Love ya, Hugs.

  • Seriously though, it's rare budgies talk THAT much! Like that's ALOT!

  • Yes Pippy..I have had many budgies over the years. This is only the second one that I could manage to get to talk that much. Usually it is the males that will..if they are so inclined.

    Love ya!

  • I need to get me a boy! hahahaha

  • ROTFL!

  • First you are SO SWEET And I adore you!

Second You got A special Soul over there!First it looked like he swallow a radio..but when he asked u for kisses..knowing what he was asking! You are bless to have him! All this kind of birds talk? Or is only Casey?

  • LOL...You're so cute..saying he swallowed a radio Val!! There are different birds that you can teach to talk Val. Ones like Casey usually just the males talk. It takes time and patience, and lots of cookies. Casey likes to chew on my whip too!

    Love you, Nancy

  • I understood what Casey said...he's adorable!

Considering your love of birds, I bet you might like the OverTheRaynbow channel.

  • Oh thank you! I shall take a look over there and see what it has on that channel.

Thank you for stopping in ...

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Oh nancy, Casey bird is VERY special!

i heard and understood him clearly, we need a mascot for the nutters club,i wonder if he can learn to say nutter!

    LOL!

    :-)

    x hugs x

  • LOL...Maybe Twish!

But I don't think we could let him near those kitties!!!

He has no fear so would want to play with them.

    Luv and hugs.

  • Nancy.. I love him.

he says " thank you very much"

can you please teach THAT to my kids

  • LOL..no promises on your kids..any birds that you need trained???

    Hugs & Luv, Nancy

  • That was great i could understand Casey. 11 years old is very old for a budgie. He was talking a lot.

  • I am not sure how long they live Kim. That's what I was wondering if anyone knew. I have had other budgies but they haven't lived this long. Of course I didn't spoil them as much either. LOL.

Glad you could understand him...I didn't know if the mic would pick it all up.

    Thanks and hugs.

  • Very cute!

  • Thanks so much Rhonda!!!

    Hugs and luv.

  • Thank you much for giving us this look at a truly special bird. I found myself laughing at his comments, and they truly are in proper context, amazing!

  • Hi Steve, that's what I found so amazing..you can almost carry on a conversation with this bird. LOL. I don't know how..but, he just knows how to put words and sentences in their proper order.

    Hugs & Luv, Nancy

  • they are amazing little creatures-hes beautiful. we had a budgie when i was younger-he talked non stop as well~peace, ben.

  • Hello Ben..I know when they get going with the talking they don't know when to stop. LOL.

Thanks for having a look at Casey.

    Hugs.

  • Great video. Gods creatures amaze me everyday and your bird is no exception. He is awesome and such a pretty bird.

  • Thank you so much your comment is greatly appreciated.

    Hugs~Nancy

  • He is a magical creature Nancy and I hope he is with you forever. We have a yellow lab named Casey, he understands a number of words but he doesn't talk. lol I would drop dead if he did.

    Peace,

    Allen

  • Hi Allen..It's strange enough to hear a little bird talk...can you imagine your yellow lab looking at you and saying, "Come here give me kiss" LOL...Yup I think I would fall over too.

    Yes, Casey is magic!

  • I've never seen a talking budgie until now.

  • Well now you have...isn't it a strange thing to watch? LOL

Thanks for taking to time to meet Casey.

  • It's cute how he gives your thumb kisses. My birdie Bean was listening!

  • Oh My!! I just skipped over to your channel and saw your icon!!! The hummingbird is my favourite!! Closest I've come is to have one light on my finger for a second. That is absolutely amazing!!! I must sub to your channel if I haven't already!!!

Hugs...Nancy runs of all excited about the hummingbirds.

  • Thank you Nancy! You should see the hummingbird playlist I set up. My icon is from the hand feeding Allen's hummingbird or something like that. Boo hoo. It's too rainy today to play with hummers!

  • Lawd.... He is spoiled....LOLOL

  • That he is!!! But deservedly so!

He's a good little bird and deserves to be kissed and fed peanut butter cookies.

    LOL

    Thanks and hugs~Nancy

  • Thank you very much for sharing ☺

    Great video!

  • Glad you enjoyed!!

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Thank YOU very much Casey, you are awesome.

    Hugs.

  • Casey Bird Rocks Nancy! Thanks for sharin' him with us. Much Peace, Love, Happiness & Respect To You & Casey both. =)

  • Beautiful bird, spoiled rotten as well isn't he?

  • Ah not really Will.

Just because I give him cookie crumbs?

For all the joy he is brought me he deserves it.

    Thank you and hugs.

  • Casey Bird Rocks Nancy! Thanks for sharin' him with us! Much Peace, Love, Happiness & Respect to You & Casey. =)

  • Glad you enjoyed Michael!!

    Luv and hugs, Nancy

  • Lol. I got given a budgie when I was a kid from the local priest and you should have heard the language that it came out with! Positively un-holy.

  • Hi Deakster! Yup you have to be careful what you say around them because once they learn a word they don't ever forget it. LOL
