  • hey, everyone who feels like bringing Afghanistan into this just stop please. Sure I did not agree with Iraq, and well Libya, there are things to be said. All I know is that from 1200 girls going to school before coalition forces went in to Afghanistan to about what 1.2 million in 2007? A nation where women would die from simple infections because it was culturally distasteful to be seen by a physician? I full heartily agree with the Afghan mission. As well as support those who die to face evil

  • let us all fight about world politics YEEEAH! OPINIONS ON THE INTERNET MATTER!!!

  • Iraq and Libya hold a shit load of oil, Afghanistan holds a huge $500 billion Opium-growing business, Iran holds the 2nd largest amount of Natural Gas reserves in the world. What do these all have in common? Why they are sanctioned by the US and UK of course! But don't worry about resource, because we all know they are terrorists there out of any other country in the world, and we are there for humanitarian reasons even though we don't help out Syria from their hellish govt.

  • It was an english soldier .

  • how heartwarming.. an american soldier helping a wounded child, wounded due to occupation. cause that's what we're there for folks! we gotta bomb the shit out of them to save them! and what we did in Iraq and Afghanistan is working out so well, we gotta do it in Lybia!

That's right, we're good people, we're Americans. Any one else doing what we do would be "bad" but we're "good" cause we're Americans! Yes!

  • @YankeePashaDE It was an english soldier you idiot

  • you had me at James Nesbitt.

  • Suddenly, hippies everywhere.

  • Why America and UK will bomb Antarctica:

    1) The Penguins have not declared support for the U.S. - thus support international terrorism.

    2) In addition to the penguins in Antarctica, no one lives there - there is ethnic cleansing.

    3) The Penguins can not talk - so do not respect freedom of speech.

  • those who you fight aint your enemies.

as for your caualties. Google it. This is the information age you ll see.

Wow what an argument I havent heard any dead or wounded???!!!

  • !!!Best mother fucking drama I have ever seen!!!

  • More BBC propaganda

  • Anywhere you can watch this again?

  • @CooperDon95 probably only be able to watch Occupation movie when it comes in tv again, otherwise you can get it in video stores but you have to find a store that has a copy.

  • great moviemaking. I sat and watched this in New Zealand and thought to myself that we are fortunate here to get such high quality drama. Nothing I have seen in a long time comes close to this. the story was believable and it was like being a fly on the wall. Very well done, very well acted, ten out of ten fo great drama and moviemaking.

  • HOW ABOUT WE DO SOMETHING REALLY BRAVE...

& STAND UP TO THE ISRAEL/AMERICA PACT OVER PALESTINE!

Palestinians have to live on only 15% of regular supplies DUE TO THE ILLEGAL ISRAELI BLAOCKADE WHICH HAS STOOD FOR DECADES.

(see my channel for more info)

  • He's too old for the part. But regardless of this, how did it compare to warriors Ive not seen it yet. Goin looking for it NOW!

  • Brilliant sheer class, hits you in all the right places. Well done to the bbc again

  • YES!!!! ive finally found this again! i watched the series back in June 09 ... but had since forgotten the name of it... its taken me forever, but i've finally found this once more :D The last episode of this made me cry so much! and im a 16 year old teenage guy!

  • British television is the best in the world, FACT! You gotta love a bit of bbc drama!

  • whats the song at the begining of episode 1??? anyone know??

  • @aarontheairsofter Teardrop - Massive Attack OR Lonely Soul - Unkle

  • Is it just me or has James Nesbitt become a better actor since the hair transplant? Saw him in this and also with Liam Neeson in Five Minutes of Heaven and he was fantastic.

    Hair is power!!!!

  • Its shame that i cant watch bbc in Finland : / I would always watch Top Gear, maybe this (dont know is this good) and all comedy shows what Roy Clarke have made.

And ofc some other shows too :P

  • this is the worst drama series i've ever seen.horrible acting, lousy story .Some of the action was realistic

i'll give it that but as a hole it was shit.

  • @leiefilm well you are entitled to your opinion but i personally along with many others believe that it was amazing.

  • My younger bruvver is in this he was James Nesbitts son in the first episode !!

  • Occupation is pretty good. Btw for some strange reason, in Finland Occupation is called "Paluu helvettiin" and that means "back in hell" Ö_ö Believe it or not. That just sounds stupid but it's true! xD

  • what is the song called? please answer !

  • @Candyking2007 deep blue sea by grizzly bear

    hope it helps :)

  • @Candyking2007 the song is called AhaaaaAAaaAAAAAaaaaaahmmm by The Moaners

  • Anyone know where i can watch this drama? As it is no longer available on bbc Iplayer :(

  • Even if da toilet was occupieed, belive that i would still take da piss

  • i met stephen graham on a train

cudnt belive it!! propa down to earth guy

was screwn that my phone batt died cudnt snap a photo :/

  • If we found ourselves in the Iraqis shoes ...would we probably be just as ...detached from whoever it was who said they were coming to help us...or if we were the ones coming to help...would we be as confused about our role as to be more harm to those we are helping and to ourselves? Thank goodness I am thousands of miles away in a country that spends a lot of time playing a lot of sport and chasing whaling ships down to the Antarctic...or so people think

  • What I loved about this tv movie was its honesty. Okay, so we don't see everything but I couldn't help admire whoever the scriptwriter was, for making these characters and situations so believable. There were so many scenes - and comments that attempted to so the reality of what Iraq is experiencing. I always think the Brits should get the award for making great drama and cinema and television and I never miss every Sunday on Television One in New Zealand to catch whatever is on the tele.

  • I have always thought that the Brits make the best drama. Even though 'The Hurt Locker' took out the Academy Award for 2010, that kind of drama is not new to those who are privileged to watch so many great "Hurt Locker" type movies/tv dramas that have been coming out of the UK for many years. New Zealand television buys a lot of Brit stuff and this movie is probably the best for a few years.

  • Based on this trailer, it seems to be similiar to 'Welcome to Sarajevo' which is an indicator it will be a powerful drama.

  • I haven't seen this but Jimmy Nesbitt is good in conflict dramas; Bloody Sunday, Welcome to Sarajevo etc

  • Its quite good.

I like him in most stuff, quite a wide range of things and enjoyed this.

  • this was a great programme, but for only 3 episodes, they should've made it a film

  • i ... May.... have cried like a little girl during the funeral scene

  • You call it an adventure what a fucking insult, you and people like you think you know it all you dont. Its a good job most of the british are behind our service men and women, and there are people willing to serve so as arogant twats like yourself have a fredom of speach and acan walk the streets at night without getting blown to fucking bits asshole!!!

  • This has mike ranney from band of brothers :) He is a mad actor

  • Haha so you mean that the soldiers were their helping the civilians? LOL

    Completely fake and well targeted.

  • hope this eventually airs in the us

  • it has . on bbc america

  • the song is deep blue sea by grizzly bear

  • Is that song by Midlake?

  • What is the name of the song?

  • anybody know where you can watch this ?

  • war... idiots.

  • Is that the best comment you can come up with? The UK series was made to show war, warts and all. Not just the heroes but the corruption.

Shame they didn't make one about Afghanistan, maybe then you'd understand what's given up for you to make crap, two word comments.

You give that comment, but are still sad enough to search on YouTube for war footage and series...You sad, angry, ignorant cunt.

  • Heros? Honestly Im getting sick of this fucking government instigated propaganda campaign. Ill be honest I couldnt give a 2pence fuck wether the british soldiers taliban soldiers or both fucking die at least they had the luxury of choice to go to these places. The innocent civilians didnt get a choice did they? No they just got caught in the fucking crossfire and the rest of us are supposed to be gratefull that all those innocent people have died and for what? Fuck all thats what.

  • STFU!

  • not if there poor and need government money so survive they don't. And who are you to judge any soldier if you've never been in the military before?

  • Bollocks. Im poor, I did something about it, just like everybody else. I come from one of the poorest parts of the UK and most folk know that if they dont want to they dont have to, the 10000 afghans killed since last year didnt get that choice did they?. I can pass judgement on any government branch seen as how I and millions of other taxpayers pay for its little adventures and its upkeep. They join willingly and then when they get themselves killed Im supposed to applaud and say hero? Bulshit

  • british soldiers dont have the choice lol thier ordered to go.

taliban soldiers dont have a choice either they think its the only way to go to heaven.

    weres the choice there?

  • try living a week under the taliban. you'll quickly get the picture.

  • How did james Nesbitt manage to do it.

He was that cocky Irish cheeky chappy guy that everyone loved to hate, and now hes in all these brilliant dramas giving it loads. You can't help but have respect for the man

  • what music is playing over this trailer. It sounds like glen hansard?

  • this was one of the most powerful dramas ive ever seen on the bbc....and our boys dont get paid shit out there it works out bout £2-£3 an hour wen u work out how many hours they do everyday risking their lives....

  • Private £16,226.76 to £25,181.88

    Lance Corporal £19,628.52 to £27,599.28

    Corporal £25,181.88 to £31,645.56

    Sergeant £28,622.64 - to £35,218.80

    Staff Sergeant £31,684.56 to £40,096.68

    Warrant Officer Class 2 £34,379.16 to £41,248.80

    Warrant Officer Class 1 £36,812.16 to £44,587.80

    Ex' Staff Sergeant.

  • @punchperfect Democracy for you Politicians make wars the Comom Man that goes to the military pays the price

  • @punchperfect Yeah you say that now, then you bitch when taxes go up to pay them more money. Nobody can ever win.

  • @punchperfect Glad to see there is some respect still in the UK.

  • @punchperfect and risk their lives for.....nothing as they DIE for nothing. UK is US little BITCHES.

  • @xeniosaias r u saying were the USA because if you open a history book u can see that we settled in america with the rest of Europe the only true people from the US is the native Indians so your really English

  • @underdog111111111111 All I am saying is that you do whatever US tell you to do. No matter how stupid and with total disrespect to human life and democracy,

  • @xeniosaias lol what? two different countries are the same? wrong, we speak the same language, that is about it, hell americans took the English language and butchered it, america nearly had german as its main language, did you know that? no you probably didn't, you probably don't know fuck all, but you think you do, and you think therefore you are, or are you, no your not, your just a idiot who thinks he knows shit when he doesn't. Uk and US have little in common.

  • @soulshrine You still do whatever they tell you to do soooooo??? I didnt say anythink about common thinks just the reality, you are their stupid servants. Thats all.

  • @xeniosaias we use each other, that's how politics work, i think you'd find most countries use the usa in whichever way they can. It is the smart thing to do, the uk has only ever made one failure of a deal with the usa, just one and the person in charge who did isn't our PM anymore. Eitherway you have completly denied my commment, as if you avoid arguing your intelligence, how cute. :P

  • @soulshrine Well you speak of intelligence yet your limited IQ didnt let you see and aknowledge my reply to you. And how is you use them??? As long as English troops still die for nothing and kill innocent people for nothing you are being used regardless who your PM is. Do you find that cute too??? Tell me why is that you bomb Libya now??? And please dont tell me because CNN say so!!

  • @xeniosaias Did you just own yourself? yes i think you just did, "didnt let you see and Aknowledge my reply to you. and how is you use them???" <-- learn english please.

you also forgot a it after is.

For starters we don't have cnn here, second of all you act like innocent people will or have never died in a war, wars are bloody, messy things, no matter what kind. its realistically impossible for there to be no casualties in a war, the best thing we can do is limit how many, and we do.

  • @soulshrine Thank you for the english lesson but keep it to yourself. At least I know more than 1 language.

You have no arguments and you try to prove me you know better English??? In your previews comment you wrote "completly" is that correct??

Wars are bloody with casualties yes, but whats the reason to start a war??? You dont limit the casualties by starting more wars. BBC or CNN the same bullshit. So tell me why you attack Libya?? Where are the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? etc etc.

  • @xeniosaias see your ignorance knows no bounds, i speak two languages and i am also in the process of learning a third. i speak fluently french and english.

Oh you mistake me for some compassionate peace loving person, personally i see war as something quite needed, after all how do we keep the population in check, birth control is unrealistic since people will bypass it, this planet can only hold so many. you mistake, war for the right reason and war for a valid reason :P

  • @xeniosaias Tell me, your 32 years old and yet you still haven't learnt deduction, for starters, you should've at least by now realised i don't give a shit.

Honestly, do you think there is no benefit for us to support our allies in the long term, do you think that things done for right reasons always go right? do you think as flawed human beings we will get things right everytime and last but not least, do you think you've never done anything wrong.

  • @soulshrine Not only you give a shit, I even hit a nerve it seems. Did I upset you a lot lad? Good hehehe

As for mistakes. You do mistakes I do so. But I learn from my mistakes. I am also clever enough to learn from mistakes of others.

You on the other hand, you dont learn from your mistakes and your mistakes kill innocent people.

Benefit from you allies?? You mean the US of course. What benefit that would be to justify the killing of civilians???

How you feel being the Nazi???

  • @xeniosaias justify killing innocent people? you make it sound like my country is hunting innocent people haha.

no you haven't hit a nerve, in some ways i'm hoping you do, at least that'll make be bother to even feel like trying hehe.

So i'm a nazi now lmao hahaha xD i like my country, i like not caring about other countries that i don't care for, does that mean i'm actively committing genocide?

btw, those who recognise a mistake before they make them are the intelligent ones, idiot :P

  • @soulshrine This is exactly what you are doing you are killing innocent people.

It does hurt you to accept reality. You are the Nazi now. Its your bombs killing innocent people this time.

Read my comments well. You simply dont understand. It is indeed an IQ thing with you. You aint clever enough to understand simple things.

  • @xeniosaias I'm wasting my time talking to you aren't i, well whatever, my grandfather spent years fighting the nazis, if we are killing innocents, why on earth would we be protecting them too.

sadly your a idiot, you speak of things you don't understand, you come back with childish arguements, and as you found you had nothing left to say you pulled out the nazi card, which only made you look the fool.

good luck with your life. :) bye.

  • @soulshrine Your grandfather fought the Nazi, you have become the Nazi. I have asked you several times the reasons you fight those wars you are in now, and you simply cant answer.

Best of luck in your life too, you re gonna need it, and I hope it will stop killing people.

  • @xeniosaias for starters you don't seem to fucking understand, I ME PERSONALLY AMNOT FIGHTING ANY WARS. my government is and to the best of my knowledge, the troops are trying to uphold as best they can the geneva convention, and to my knowledge they have yet to break those rules. so no we aren't nazi's.

What country are you from? ;)

  • @soulshrine Oh yeah?? Who is killing the civilians in Libya? Are they killing themselves?? And why you attack them?? You dont fight yet you support this madness!

    Take a wild guess!

  • @xeniosaias Well you sound bias, since you can't differentiate killing and accidentally killing i'm guessing your either attempting to troll and failing at it, or your just moronic, but going by the information i have at hand, polish or greek i'd say.

  • @soulshrine accidentally killing???? AH?? Why on earth you are killing them is the point. You have NO REASON to go there!! This is what you DONT GET.

You re the TROLL mate not me. You have no arguments yet you try to justify killing.

Look your self in the mirror tell me what you see??

  • @xeniosaias guess i was right on the country lmao. we got there if we want to, that not good enough reason for you ;]

  • @soulshrine you were not right about anything.

To make things simple for you to understand your stupidity. Go find crippled eglish soldiers (unfortunately they are many) and ask them was it worth it. Go find parents of dead english soldiers and ask them was it worth it.

Do let me know what they tell you. You have no arguments in favor of war this way you might see first hand the arguments against the war.

  • @xeniosaias

eglish? what are they, i'm sorry i've never heard of eglish soldiers.

you act like our race is ment to be angelic, that everyone should always get their way, naive. your where you are because of a history of bloodshed, the allies killed a lot of nazi troops, civi's obviously got hurt in process. but your saying instead we should've let the nazi's go unchallenged? thats your attitude to war.

so long as we have enemies, war is always a option. and people get hurt, realise that.

  • US Army private = 17,124 dollars per year.

  • i just loved stephen graham in this

  • Does anyone know the name of the song at the end of part 3 just before the credits start PLEASE REPLY if you do

  • Did you mean right at the very end of the three parter?

I'm not entirely sure but I've got a feeling it was 'Run' by Amy McDonald.

And I really hope they release a DVD of this. It was so good, really moving especially the ending.

  • anyone know were i could catch these shows? they aint on iplayer anymore :-(

  • ive been lookin as well mate but they take it off i-player after seven days of viewing :( im pretty sure they put it on DVD though :).

  • im 13 and i know i shudnt of been watching it ....but i dont watch these kind of programmes for the nudity or vilonce or swearing, i watch it because its SOOOOOOOOOOOO good .............even i cried at the end..#] (dnt tell any1)

  • amazing, warren brown was sensational :)

  • Amazing show, best thing the BBC has put out in a decade.

I think many people were disapointed however, because they expected it to be a British version of Generation Kill rather than a drama.

  • What song is on this trailer???

  • Its called "Deep Blue Sea" by Grizzly Bear

  • that was the most amazing programme ever.

  • watched only 1 episode couldnt stomach another, very disapointed love james nesbitt as an actor but thought this was a right load of unrealistic shite lol

  • this was an amazing show

  • does anyone know who sings song at the end after funerel

  • Amy Macdonald - Run

  • iii loooove stephen graham (: aka danny in this (:

    greaat programme.

  • whos knows what the songs called right at the beginning of the drama 'epsode 1'

  • Teardrop, by massive attack

  • thanks!!

  • well done to all the boy's that are deploying soon, keep your fooking head's down and come home safe!!

start itc catterick 23rd august for the rifles.

    "swift and bold"

  • ahh! myt work wii u LOL

  • the first 15 minutes in the first episode is quite realistic but films and tv series always seem to miss out the sound of incoming rounds.

I watched the dispatches series fighting the taliban which screened in 2006 just before i deployed with 1 royal anglian and that with hindsight in mind is the closest to being there without going.

But you never get a real appreciation of it without going......ever.

  • well done to you matey!

are 1 royal anglians going for another tour in the near future??

  • yes in a couple of years

  • Great 3 part series Loved the use of Pink Floyd

The Gunner's Dream in episode 2

  • what song is this

  • DEEP BLUE SEA - By Grizzly Bear

  • dave hayes well said mate.. but shit i cnt imagine how hard it is for injured soldiers/victims of battle

  • its actually decent pay in the army! im goin to afghanistan 2011 scared but cant wait its l the truth in the occupation proggrame so realistic!! does any1 know the track where stephen nesbitt is running with the iraqy girl? its a good song :)

  • What Regiment you in? im set for 2010

  • reme then im being transfered to get my wings wif the paras 16th air assault brigade! then after sas training! wbu wat u goin to???

  • I'm a Royal Engineer, might transfer to 1Rifles though, always wanted to be a Rifleman

  • its not decent pay ...not rly if u compare it to other less life threatning jobs basic army = £16,000.... trainee cops =£22,000 ....trainee firefighters = £21,000

  • in america its equal to having a minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant such as mcdonalds.

  • yeah but things like room, board, and food is covered plus you don't have to worry about paying taxes if your active. So its a big plus despite the lack of money you make.

  • The special effects in this were shite to say the least.

  • can u please upload all 3 episode pleas

  • Does anyone know the name of the song in the scene where stephen graham is taking drugs?

  • Sandstorm by Darude

  • Great!!! The Mirror of ... well let;s call it truth. Five stars

  • ProdPete is correct

  • this was one of the best programes/short series ive seen in a long time. troops get next to nothing when they come home with serious injuries, and less than nothing for the mental injuries they carry. bravest men in the world and nothing in return.

  • British soldiers are pay cheque is less than that of a traffic warden...where's the justice?

  • They don't behead everyone though.

& I can see the debate for suicide in such a situation if it was real, its just safe to say, in my opinion anyway that the creators wanted it to be in the way of him getting killed by the enemy,

Due to how most of the funeral panned out, and Mikes anger at Danny

  • I love the music also, does anybody know what it is ?

  • I don't think he can have shot himself for two reasons.

    1) and perhaps the less convincing reason - I am not sure logistically how easy it is to shoot yourself with a machine gun and end up in that position with out a gun in your hand.

  • 2) If he had committed suicide the army would have known about it (difference in ammunition etc). That being the case the parents would have known about it and they would never have let the priest during the funeral say that he loved the army and he died doing what he loved he he had knocked himself off.

  • What your saying is TRUE but he wouldent of commited suricide because of the army... but under the situation he was in with 500+ insurgents trying to kill you if he would of been captured he would of been beheaded on camura. so mayb thats why he (COULD) of done it. i mean watch andy mcnabs tour of duty on Dvd and you will see a same sceneario that happend with troops inside a building and they was trapped and some of them thought about commiting suricide rarther then let the enemy get to them.

  • You can set the SA80 to single shot, three shots, or burst fire.

  • No you cant. Its either single shot or auto. No 3 shot burst.

  • Deep Blue Sea (Daniel Rossen Home Recording)

    Its on Itunes

  • Also i love the music on the trailer.

  • Amazing. Just amzing.

  • i watched this on bbc iplayer the other night and cant stop thinking about it, just incredible. absolutley mind blowing. i havent vried in year but i was welling up at the end.

  • Just watched episode 3...Terrific Stuff !!!

  • A British made drama that doesn't suck!!!!! Wow!!!

Really good, enjoyed it. More like this please, I'm sick of crap British television!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I have to agree - great drama. BBC you did yourself proud. I have to say to badbaz83 though. I think The Brits make some brilliant dramas. Far more story led and rely less on trying to win the audience over with explosions and special effects.

  • How did his son die?

  • not quite sure how hes son died but i guess its

1.The insurgents shot him dead in that room

    2.he killed himself

  • I think he shot himself. Look at the way he's lying on the bed. If the Taliban killed he he would likely just be led on the floor and not on the bed, if he heard them coming he would not of jsut lied on the bed and let them kill him, also he his helmet had been taken off so i reckon he shot himself.

  • Working on trying to get this on YouTube, problem is the downloads are all protected meaning I can't get it to work on Movie Maker.

    Any ideas?

  • Brilliant series. Well done Beeb.

  • if any american wants to watch this go on google then type in bbc i player then type in on there occupation. bbciplayer has all the reruns of british tv so thanks

  • ending is really sad. =(

  • Just to clear up, my teardrop comment was to a guy who'd asked for the song at the start of the first Episode, he asked about it on page 5 or so.

I hit reply, and Youtube being Youtube put my reply right up at the 1st page, jus so you aint all rushin to find the wrong song.

  • whats the song on this trailer?

    please let me know

  • BIG CHALLENGE !!!!

It is NOT : Deep blue sea

it is Not : Tear Drop

Cello and Guitar mystery soundtrack -

on the First episode between 11th and 12th minute ....

listen to it again on iplayer.... and pleeeeease let me know .

    thankx

  • Hey Ive been recomended watch this does anyone know where I can watch the whole thing,? im not in Britain at the mo so cant get access to BBC iplayer..........anyone know a link to all three episodes?

  • They are very long episodes, but i imagine someone will upload them to Youtube soon enough, just keep checking back every now and again. They are well worth watching, the ending is very sad though. (It doesn't work out good for any of them)

  • Thnak you v much for replying!

  • i found the bit were he gets kidnapped was really hard too watch especially with my brother who is in the forces

  • Does anyone know what the song is played when the credits roll?

They played it a few times in some of the eps aswell during them, its an instrumental. Appreciate the help if anyone knows which I mean

  • yeh thats it.thanks x.

  • whats the name of track played at the end of episode 3

  • Hi there,

You are looking for : Run by Amy Macdonald ...

And i am still madly looking for my unknown track....

  • Brilliant music too :

BUT I am desperatly looking for the cello (?) and guitar duet soundtrack at the 12th minute of the 1st episode.

    Thanks for keeping me posted.

  • Great drama

The lad who played Hibbsy is a cracking actor .Hope we see more of him in the future

  • where can i watch this other than bbc i player, cos i don't live in the UK, thanks?

I would really appreciate a reply.

  • I watched all three episodes of this yesterday and all I can say is it is absolutely brilliant drama. Whether you agreed with the decision to go to war in Iraq or not (I was completely against), the BBC really done themselves proud here.

  • its so sad that some people have this attuitude against woman, soilders do not have support after the war which i think the goverment should provide

  • I don't know man, some of those scenes really looked like CGI. I wouldn't doubt that some of it were real and the rest of it was just sketched in.

  • i nearly cried when i saw this..

its soo sad, especially when mike finds his son dead. i actually wanted to be in the army until i saw this.

  • fishpimp100 dont let this program stop you from joining the best trained army in the world.

  • thank you for your support, i will consider.

  • im fucking english

    haha best bit
