  • Incredible footage! thanks for posting. Interesting after visiting your channel.

  • Hi chrysalis72,

Thank you for the kind words, I have made some new purchases in the video camera department so as soon as this awful, dark, cold, snowy and depressing period is behind us here in Finland there will be more.

I have now solved most of the issues with these bullet cams and their rotary shutters and jello effects so hopefully some nice footage of flying in the archipelago in the spring.

  • Take off easy from the water with this HKS 60hp engine: because the bubble look from the canopy, i think it's a original Petrel built in Lorient, France, lighter than the actual Super Petrel built in Brasil

  • Hi oiseautempete,

This "original" Petrel is a lot lighter than the Super Petrel. I furthermore put mine on a strict diet during an extensive rebuilding procedure i did a couple of years ago. The Empty weight is now 266 kg / 586 lbs.

Nevertheless it still is a bit of a struggle to get out of the water at gross weight in no wind conditions. Next mod is water spray deflectors to keep the energy from spraying away.

  • @tomarppe

Ok tomarpe, interresting! Nice work at rebuilt from this Petrel: 266kg is realy light for a amphibian, most of them weight more than 300kg and need powerfull engines, specialy on flat water and no wind. I like the very special look from the Petrel and known that he is one of the best amphibian ultralight in rough water. The most of them use originaly a gas thirsty Rotax 618 2 stroke , but a 4 stroke is more reliable and quiet...Good flight over your nice lakes region

  • Congratulations.

    Would you like to install some pictures there ? w . forum-ulm-ela-lsa . n e t / viewforum . p h p ? f = 8 2

You also could speak about it.

  • could watch for hours...thank you for posting!

  • What does a person from USA need to fly in Finland?

    Nice video. Thanks

  • Depends a bit on what he/she wants to fly. If you get here with your own N registered aircraft Factory built or Experimental, no special permissions is required. But Ultralight is quite different from US Part 103. I think Canada has their rules quite similar to ours.

Ultralights in FInland uses a National LIcense and the specs are

MTOW 450 (land) and 495 (sea)

    Stall speed max 65 km/h

  • taisit olla viime vuonna jämillä koneellas

näin nimittäin ihan samallaisen Petrelin siellä pakeerattin meijän cessna 170 OH-CSO siihen viereen

  • Siellähän minä akuankkakoneella pyörin, kuten niin monena vuonna ennenkin, OH-CSO taisi oikein tarttua kameran kennollekin.

    Nähdään siellä taas tänä vuonna?
