  • Thank you SO MUCH!! I made the mistake of taking the entire reel apart all at the same time so I missed a few details and it wasn't working like I knew it should. Watched this and figured out my mistake.

  • how about linear bail springs? I have a shakespeare predator reel, and I removed the bail and now i have trouble trying to fit it back together. any advice?

  • I have about 15 old Mitchell reels I found at garage sales ouvr the years. I decided to fix a few of them. These reels last forever. Thanks for the video... it taught me a lot. Great !!!

  • What year is yours there? thanks

  • I wrestled with this bail spring for a good while. then I watched your video once and went and grabbed my reel and had the bail spring installed in about a minute. Thanks for the help!

  • @ilmotusa Thank you, now I know it helped someone ;-)

  • Great video. I learned a lot from this. Thanks for posting.

  • thats really good, but the trouble with old Mitchells is that the bearings wear too easily

    -abu swedish parts do not

-thats why on E-Bay worldwide Mitchells fetch very low price but abu reels hold their value and some sell for crazy prices

    -thx for good video though

  • @darkmossie633 They do wear if not properly maintained like any bearings. The main reason Mitchell reels sell for less is because there are so many for sale and like ABU, some sell for crazy prices as well.

  • Thanks for that - I'm resurrecting my trusty Mitchell 300A (love that reel) and this was usefull info - Cheers!

  • I have a 300, a 300A and a 410 that I'm bringing back to life, many thanks for this excellent post.

  • I have one of these reels. Where do you get your tools? I'd like to get some of these for myself.

  • @b26maurader Some of the original Mitchell tools are almost impossible to find but search eBay with key words: "Mitchell, reel, tool" and another using key words: "Mitchell, reel, part" and you may find them there.

  • @92959921 @92959921 Thank you for your comment. It is easy once you know how. I did this film on the spur of the moment, unscripted, unrehearsed and only one take. I'm a little embarrassed but did the best I could under pressure ;-)
