I remember this game. At the time I lived in Japan and was at school while it was being played. Lucky for me my biology teacher happened to be an Oakland fan as well and had a little TV set up with AFN to watch the game. We both went nuts when Garner hit the sidelines. Everyone else in the class was oblivious and thought we were crazy.

I had to watch this game from the kitchen at Ralph's grocery store deli when I was in college... on my friend's little portable tv. I was going nuts and screaming and people were tripping out, it was great. The next week wasn't so fun... had to work about as hung over as a man can be. But good times... GO RAIDERS!!!

Yep that's why I love Herman Edwards so much...very accommodating to the Raiders. Many don't remember that it was he who got burned by Kenny King in SB 15 for a long TD. As Bill King described it" Herm Edwards gambled and threw up snake eyes." Wish he'd come coach in the AFCW. Again.

The Raiders blew a first round bye by losing to the Jets the previous week to finish 10-6 and New England (11-5) out of nowwhere clinched the # 2 seed which they were battling Miami most of the season for that spot after Pittsburgh ran away with the AFC's top seed (13-3). They were at one time 10-3 & lost their last 3 regular season games and the all important a first round bye, which they could have hosted New England instead of going to Foxboro.

Gruden's Raiders team was my absolute favorite football team ever. Gannon, Rice, Brown, Garner, Woodson, etc. The only teams that stopped us back then were Patriots on a complete bullshit call in the snow and Buccaneers who was actually coached by Gruden himself who knew Raiders every play.

I'll actually say not drafting Ed Reed when they took Nap Harris is the biggest draft miss of decade. Reed was a NO BRAINER. Could've had Charles Woodson, Rod Woodson, and Ed Reed in the secondary. Instead, Al's fixation on DERRICK GIBSON (another athlete that couldn't play) burned us.
