  • AHHH That piano blew my eardrums apart! Really helpful tutorial but.

  • speak less

  • you are right bro but strumming anf tempo automations take more cpu

  • did u used fast dist for piano?

  • how did you alter the velocities all at once, because i cant find a way to level all of my velocities all at once

  • Great stuff dude, had no idea about the randomisation feature and the tempo recording is a great idea.

probably worth mentioning that on that high hat rhythm you generally will have the accent on the start of the bar, then a lesser accent on the 1/4 notes, then the eighth notes etc. (for a straight rhythm).

  • sickest tutorial, you and nfx are gods

  • I subbed!! LOVE YOU DUDE!!!!!

  • It's cool!

  • oh man, i wanted to listen to the part where the drums come in! thx for the tutorial and the song u made sounds to good. do u actually have it as a song somewhere?

  • It's really cool that you put up that video. You actually introduced like 3 or 4 ways to make one's music sound more natural - well done.

  • Really nice! If you have time! check out my new songs too please :) /watch?v=7qigK-7Hg5M

  • nice tutorial! Used it to make my songs check them out :) Midnight sea especially!

  • nice songs... i have been wondering that tempo thing.... thx.. good tutorial...

  • The way you make music doesn't mind! the result does, if the thing you made sounds good to you, it's the most important, anyway the techniques you used, as soon as it sounds good to you, you make music for yourself at first.

  • im taking care of that check out my instrumentals more and better ones to come=)

  • too bad... not all of us wanted to be producer using fl studio... i use fl studio for montage and maybe someday my own anime movies... :P

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAH

  • @F0nkyNinja puberty :D

  • wow - good work!

  • aah, thanx, man

  • Dude is da man :)

    L.Leraz

  • i wont need a midi controller for some stuff thanks to this

  • Awsome!

  • Nice tutorial man tanx a lot!

  • Hi! Thanx for your fruity insights; altering the overall tempo of the song is something I didn't think of before and I'm definitely going to try that out!

  • AcePincter you're tutorials are priceless.

Thank you for helping all of the FL Studio users out there and proving that it is a very complex tool but can be mastered with a little help!

  • very useful :D finally i found out a way to make my songs sound good and like real u know .. not too fake if u get it lol

  • Thanks alot! cool name... A sphincter?

  • u said it shouldn't b used in hip-hop..i disagree as far as drums r concerned if u lookin for dat ill vibe. i'ma try it out c if i can rock wit it. i know it'll push some hot beats ova da edge and might mess up a few but dats wut they make save different version for...good looks pincter man

  • he said you dont have to if you dont want to, not that you shouldnt. but you really shouldnt, hip hop should always be 100 bpm with an amen break and on an MPC ALWAYS

  • man...fuck dat mpc....u just gotta have the right equipment and plug-ins and u'll b alright...n i NEVER use anything ova 96...and my shit fire...don't believe me check my vids. no samples...well at least most the time. n wtf is amen breaks?

  • u make music and u dont know the amen break?.woah

  • amen break???wtf.... i probably know it as something else. but yea i make music..and the shit sound good

  • haha whatt????

  • Hip hop with amen break always? u funny man...amen break its acctualy jungle dnb break

  • Dude, thx so much! That's just what I needed.

    You rock, man!!!!

  • why does everyone keep making tutorials i want to see an actual composition!

  • no offence but when you said your name it sounded like you said "A Sphincter"

  • I'm pretty sure that's on purpose.

Kind of like the phrase, "Each hit and dye."

  • hahaha ok now i get it LOL

  • Alright lol

  • you rock! I had this problem all the time!!!! youre the solution. thanks

  • nice one!

  • Why don't you fix the DC offset in the sound?

  • you're helping a lot of people with these videos! i've learned so much, especially in this one about how to adjust the tempo, i didn't know it was possible! thanks!

Great tutorial I will use this!

  • all these tutorials are helping me alot, thanks for your vids. maybe u might want to check out my fl studios songs please comment

  • where can i listen to your songs?

  • that's what I wanna know!

  • really cool tutorial, im watching al lot of your videos, i made automatization in the piano on the other lesson (chord classical style), really easy, thanxs

  • what fx are you automation in the start of the song, the yellow one (concert piano.. something, something)

btw great tut, helped me alot

  • can you please do a more indepth tutorial on how to automate tempo. I am kinda stuck on having my melody slow and slowly speeding it up over a 16 beat pattern and after that increasing colume on the same melody but with an other synth. But I can't automate the tempo. And i hate using the record funtion. :P Is there any other method??

  • you can hit automation clip if you right click the tempo, but you have to make an extremely subtle change for like 10 bpm...lets put it this way..

1 cm of change is about a 150-200 bpm.

  • thanx mate. finally someone else who knows their shit.

  • yo

do yu have an automation advanced tutorial???

  • kind of. It's called "the many ways to automate"

  • exciting tutorial.... :D

  • when u change the tempo does it change it for the whole track or just the main automation pattern itself????????????????????????

  • The whole track. There's only one tempo, and it's global!

  • @AcePincter what key stoke did you use to pull out that tempo map after you automated the song?

  • cheers

  • Good job ace, got err good homez!

  • thanks

  • Quality tutorial mate,Ive learned a few new techniques...cheers

  • How do you get the drum names in the piano roll? I've been trying to figure that out for ages, but when I switch on drum names I only get the standard GM names. You have Snare #1,#2 etc. How do you do that?

  • In my case, those actually say "Slice #1, Slice #2", as I'm in the FL Slicer. Your drum names should show if you use the FPC though.

  • thx for this

  • What about the "swing" setting in FLStudio? It's pretty much the "human setting" :)

  • No, I take issue with that! The swing function only affects patterns in the step sequencer (not the piano roll), and all it does is change your rhythm, globally. A repetitive pattern with full "swing" will still sound "robotic". Mapping swing to LFO might help though.

  • Also, I don't think "Swing" affects velocity levels. You'd be better off using small levels of random "shift" and velocity offsets in the step sequencer to achieve a more off-tempo feel.

  • But the shifts shouldn't be all random, the shifts should have a rhythm themselves, like every snare on the 2 and 4 is shifted a tiny bit forward but the bass drum on the 1 and 3 is shifted a tiny bit backward.

I learned from my drum teacher that at more advanced levels of drumming, these shifts should be regular but precisely controlled, and this is what differentiates drummers with great feel (like, funky!) and drummers with robotic precision (techno, maybe).

  • That's true! They do have a rhythm. Typically, in pop/rock, the snare drum is "pushed" or "pulled" to make the song -feel- faster or slower. To do this, you'd be better off "shifting" the snare hits accordingly using the step sequencer. The swing function affects odd vs. even steps, so it's important to be sure your bass and snare are not 4 steps apart.

  • whoa i didn't know any of that.. you should do a little lecture on theory as applied to pop music.. everything i've read always talks about correct rhythm and scales but what i've always been more interested in is the tricks of the trade that producers use. like how the vast majority of "hit" guitar songs use the 4(or3?) the 5 & 7 i believe it was? seems like they're just as important as a scale if you're just out to make a catchy tune instead of shred or compose

  • Sorry about the volume in the last half - be warned, it's too loud!
