  • i like trains..

  • what I don't understand is why people spend their time arguing about how one artist ripped off another. Each sound is distinct, so just enjoy it! Especially Perfume Genius :)

  • Great song when your stoned!

  • can someone upload " divine faxes"??? Please, pelase...

  • The best thing about this song......It is not Justin Beiber

  • @MrDragontamer2009 This made me laugh. :-)

  • This would make a great first dance song.

  • Ok maybe this is actually a man singing..or both men and women in the band. Obviously I have some "learning" to do haha. Yeah, sorry.

  • She sounds so much like Chan Marshal to me from Cat Power..was thinking this as I listened, and then when looking at the descrip afterwards, see that they are also on Matador as Cat Power is/was. Any connection I wonder?

  • it's like beautiful in a discrete and sad way and I really like it. perfume genius is pretty cool.

  • The chords are:

    B (1st inversion)

    E

    Ab (2nd inversion)

    F# (2nd inversion)

Alternate between the first note in the respective inversion, and the remaining two notes of the chord. If you do it right, your hand shouldn't have to move much around at all.

And the right hand is Eb, then E, Eb, twice, then E, Eb, C# and repeat.

The bridge is F# repeated, don't ask me about the right hand

I figured this song out on the piano today, it's just such a beautiful melody! ENJOY! :)

  • love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • sorry, replay button, for you have been raped

  • The similarities to Daniel Johnston ARE there, in fact, they're immediately apparent. Just because they don't sound identical doesn't mean the sounds aren't similar.

  • Last FM. I love you, thankyou for the introduction.

  • I just found these guys from a Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs / The Twilight Singers) interview!

    Love the lo-fi!

  • this is utterly beautiful!

  • Great song! I realy love this song. Magic

  • amazing.. this just made my day

  • Sweet lo-fi song!

  • check out my band "my good friend"

hey maybe you'll even like us.

  • I can see the Daniel Johnston comparison, the lo fi nature of it obviously and that quality their voices both have.

  • haven't heard something that beautiful for a long time

  • @persikai yeah, same here. It's so refreshing too.

  • niceeeeee

  • is this an iron & wine offshoot or something? sounds way too similar

  • ♥...

  • Also, is it possible for anyone to upload the song "Everett?"

  • I love the lyrics:

"No one will answer your prayers until you take off that dress

No one will hear all your crying until you take your last breath

But you will learn to mind me

And you will learn to survive me

    (repeat)

Your father before you and your sister too, your husband blah blah blah blah, you."

yes I know no one asked for lyrics but I posted them anyway so deal with it.

  • @kmacmuzikmafia27

    Thank you!

  • @paganklh1

    no problem ;)

  • @kmacmuzikmafia27 you're somebody i would like to have a drink with. and discuss our musical tastes, and favorite beers.

  • @matthewjamal

that's one of the best compliments I've gotten on YouTube :) Thanks.

  • i think chris garneau/sufjan stevens/cocoon would be a better comparison for perfume genius

  • @depolarized

Yeah, that I can agree with. Especially the "Romulus"-type Sufjan Stevens stuff.

  • @hightimesbruce or his new unreleased stuff like age of adz and impossible souls

  • Daniel Johnston and Perfume Genius both make pure, low fi, honest music. I wouldn't call that ripping off. But I am a person under 30. ;-)

  • This ripoff owes his career to Daniel Johnston.

It's funny to see people under 30 thinking something derivative is original because they are too young to remember the original.

  • @slitheringinterstate I'm guessing you were one of the people who also thought owl city was a ripoff of the postal service?

  • laurielegit,

No. Owl City ripped off the sound of flatulence.

  • @slitheringinterstate Ha, awesome :)

  • @slitheringinterstate

Name me a Daniel Johnston song that sounds anything like this please.

  • HightimesBruce,

If you can't see the resemblance of the music to that of Daniel Johnston's 20 years previous, I can't help you...anymore than I can convince the colorblind that the ocean's blue.

  • @slitheringinterstate

Their voices sound nothing alike, the song topics are nowhere near each other, and aside from maybe a bit of lo-fi piano work, they're two very different artists.

Oh, and just so you know, colorblind people have no problem seeing blues; it's greens and reds that they can't distinguish. Make a better analogy next time.

  • @hightimesbruce lmao

  • @hightimesbruce

Colourblindness CAN affect blues. A friend of mine has trouble distinguishing certain blues and purples.

  • @hightimesbruce red and green is only with daltonism, only one of the many 'syndromes' that are generally refered to as being 'colorblind'

  • @hightimesbruce green and red color blind people can see. thats why traffic lights are those colors. i learned that in a crafts class as a kid.. the only reason i know

  • @hightimesbruce I don't know the argument or whatever, but are you seriously unaware that there are different types of color blindness?

  • @hightimesbruce I know someone whose colorblind and can't see blues

  • @hightimesbruce my dad i colourblind and cant distiguish blue green or pink

  • @slitheringinterstate it's slightly similar to Daniel Johnston I see where you're coming from. Mostly the voice in a slight way reminds me of him and the piano, but this is totally unique I find.

  • @hightimesbruce

I've heard the comparison before from friends I recommended this to. Also Pandora played this on DJ radio, which is how I heard of it. Aesthetically, they are pretty similar, but I'd say Perfume Genius is much lovelier.

  • like sigur

  • i love this soooooo much!

  • GORGEOUS record.

  • Sounds like chris Garneau...

  • thanks for the upload :D

  • I love this music, the type you don't just listen to for the ladeeda but the kind that moves you.

  • No one will answer your prayers till you take off that dress...

  • my favorite.

  • i was shocked to find out this was a guy singing but it's still great, great stuff

  • Aww I think I love this :D

  • Brilliant song
