thanks for making the video because we all love her. she was an awesome filly but i think that horse racing should be cancled because so many horses are breaking legs and death.I think it is really rediculouse that so many people horse race knowing good and well that something might happened like it did that day :(

I think horse racing should be banned as it puts race hoses through so much pain and ordeal. So many horses die from this sport. Not many people actually watch it unless a really really horse comes along like Eight Bells and Barbaro. I have a dark bay thoroughbred called Meg and luckily she has never been raced but she has mucked up muscles in her neck and back as some idiot has kept riding her in a really tight rein when they owned her and now me and my mum are trying to sort it out.

This is meant to be a tribute to an amazing horse so there should be no nasty comments and we should be paying our respects to an amazing filly. Rest in peace Eight Bells you are a legend and will always be remembered and greatly missed. If your owners had started racing you when you were older then you would have go on to do so much more.

The reason why they break down easly is because Native Dancer had weak ankles and so they get a have breakdowns. So the result is the horses realted to Native Dancer have to watch themselves. I know my family tries not to buy horses from Native Dancer because of this problem.

I have volunteered at a racehorse rescue barn and been on the backside looking for horses to be rescued. There were just too many. The injuries:broken knees, sesamoid fractures, blind in one eye from hitting the starting gate, bowed tendons, shin splints, breathing problems not to mention all the emotional baggage they can carry. Drugs are used to hide the pain so that they can litterly run until they drop or are so broken drugs can't even help them. Then, off they go to slaughter. Truth.

i loved this horse...she was the next ruffain.....both dark and beautiful and both suffering the same fate.....both of these horses showed the world that they can hang with the boys..and who knows if eight would of lived,,,maybe she would of beaten big brown eventually..she did come in second..did you see how far she left the other 18 horses behind?thier will be another great philly in time....what a beautiful horse....she will be missed...
