poor bloke...his action looks a lot better in this footage (which i assume is from the 1963-64 series) compared to that from part 1 (the 1961 ashes)
its unfortunate that developments on biomechanics and bowling actions is only a recent discovery or else he may have had a longer career - there was a south-african bloke geoff griffin who, like murali, had a permanently bent arm but he was also thrown aside (pardon the pun :P) and who knows if he actually straightened his arm
poor meckliff, lost a career which he loved the most. His action is lot better than Hafeez,Ajmal,Botha,Brett lee,Akthar,Harbhajan, Murali ........................
Poor guy. His action looked pretty solid in those clips.
That that Sri Lankan chucker, Murali, has been allowed to register 800 wickets over the years: now that is a true disgrace born of a lame political copout.
Meckiff could have tried re-modelling his action after that test. You know the same way these guys Botha and Mohd. Hafeez did. I realise that the knowledge of biomechanics wasn't very sound at that point of time, but surely there would have been international and Shield umpires that could have assisted Meckiff.
Bill Lawry's right -- something had to be done but it should have been done differently. I was around at the time and it just left a bad feeling about the whole thing.
Sad, but Tony Lock proved that a player could come back from being 'chucked out' of Test cricket. Maybe Meckiff should've been talked with before he got into his international career.

That would have been the better option for sure. Poor Ian, he was literally hung out to dry.
