I've been wondering about this and offcourse came up with my own interpretation but can't find anywhere wheter I'm correct (or even close) :(

I definitely like Tomi better, then again, I love deeper vocals more.

Not so much a fan of this guy's voice (or anything similar) - and I absolutely hate the more higher pitched vocals (Theater, Priest, Maiden). Absolutely intolerable.

Whether Pasi sucked live or not, he was easily the better studio vocalist. The new guy just sounds cheesy to me. Musically, they still sound great. But his vocals ruin the songs for me. Pasi's clean vocals were great. They added a certain atmosphere to their music. Tomi should just stick to the growls.

Because he cannot sing live. All the album work was cut & paste and full of effects. I love the old stuff but the old singer is horrible live.

If you are talking about Koskinen, then I dont know where did you get that from. Koskinen CAN SING, clean vocals too. And he does great job with Ajattara, even live. But well, I have heard the old Amorphis didnt work too well togeather... But Pasi Koskinen is still the best singer of those 3. But yeah, thats just my opinion.

My sources are VERY reliable. It is a fact that his vocals on the albums were cut and paste and full of effects and harmonizers. I am the biggest Amorphis fan but even i admit he is rubbish live. He cannot do clean vocals live. Never has been able to. Never will. I love the album music. Live= garbage. New singer is a million times better then Pasi. He can sing. He can scream. Just overall a much better vocalist.

Its true that his vocals were mixed, like everything else nowdays, but if you have seen Ajattara live even once, you know he can sing, clean vocals too. I see we have a disagreement here, but its allright, I just love his vocals. And dont get me started about the new singer... He can sing, yes. But hes just ordinary rock singer you can hear everywhere. Now theres nothing special about Amorphis, theyre just like all the other bands. Old Amorphis was so much better. Have a nice day though.

I have! He really didn't sound that good live. I know people (will not name names) and they say that the reason he doesn't play with them anymore is he couldn't produce the same sound live and he cut and pasted his vocals on chorus parts and used harmonizers to "clean up" the rough sounds. His last album with Amorphis is all blatantly obvious he was doing that. I say again, my favorite album is AM Universum and i will always love ALL Amorphis songs.

I do think his vocals are very unique and i do love them ON THE ALBUMS, just not live. I also don't like Tomi singing most of the old Amorphis songs because i think they sound best with Pasi singing them

Well, Im not questioning wether you like old Amorphis. :) But yeah, I saw new Amorphis live 2 years ago and hearing Goddes (Of The Sad Man) sung by Tomi Joutsen... I just wanted to cry . It was nothing like the original. But Ive also saw Koskinen live and he did sing extremely well. I guess we just have different opinions here. And btw AM Universum is my favourite too. I remember I bought it when I was 12 or so and it was so magical, I just loved it from the first hearing. Well, I still do.
