Hi, nice video. I'm interested in getting a boss Br600 for recording songs that i write to upload to myspace etc. I will be recording acoustic guitar and vocals mainly but will use the drum machine in some songs. Just wondered if it is up to this? and would you reccomend it? thanks in advance.
Thanks - for the drums, I just used an external mic - it's a 421 plugged in to one of the mic jacks, just placed in a decent spot a couple of feet in front of the kit, a couple of feet off the ground, cheated towards the floor tom. That's it!
I have a question, just bought br-600 but my external microfoon is not working. If I plug in (mic from mixer) dirctly in to the recorder BR-600 I don get any sound. I understand now is no no phantom power!!! Is are solution for this problem maybe extrnal phantom power? Have been previously using Behringer B1 recordnig mic with my mixer (with phantom power).
Just got myself a BR600 - how do i record a synth, e drum kit and guitar and vocals all pugged in at the same time?! cant figure this out, i can only seem to do one at a time!! Thanks!!
I thought Chevelles sounded appropriately 60's-ish. Given that I'm the whole band, there was little debating the matter. Glad you liked the tune. -Mike
They're OK, but they're not going to be as good - in most cases - as a dedicated mic. The biggest problem is that trying to sing into them is somewhat awkward, given their positioning on the body of the recorder.
The keyboard is connected via a minature stereo jack plug. You can connect any stereo unit,(CD player, old rack unit or whatever), to this socket. The BR600 is a fantastic bit of kit and is well worth getting. With its built in drum machine and its Boss Effects,to mention but 2 of it's vast arsonal of goodies,it is a classy and extremely usefull musicians friend:)
Hi there - I used a Sennheiser MD-421 a couple of feet in front of the kit, a few inches over the top rim of the kick, cheated a bit to the floor tom side. Any weirdness with the drums is due entirely to my drumming, not the mic!
I bought this thing about 9 months ago, it sounds really good when you put the line outs into your stereo, but as soon as you upload it to PC via USB, The sound of the guitar (if you're recording distortion) Sounds incredibly tinny and thin not like a professional recording, but then again i suppose it's not gonna be at around £200.
I'm interested in snagging one of these, but I'm leery about the audio fidelity. Roland loves to use their own proprietary compression which tends to be worse than MP3's. Also I checked the manual. I see preamp 'models' but there's nothing about preamps. Do you happen to have a link to a high fidelity version of this song? Also, do you have a version without the rhythm guitar? That distortion sounds like borderline clipping, so it's hard to make a reference with that in the mix. Thanks!
Hi there - Unfortunately, no, the only high fidelity version is my original wav. Send me a message if you'd like to get a copy of that, and we can figure something out. Also, this is my only mix of it. The rhythm guitar is deliberated ratty. I think the quality of the pres is acceptable when you look at the whole picture of what you're getting - I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. But if you're looking for super-clean, super-clear, yeah, you might want to look elsewhere.
Yes, it has built-in mics plus two 1/4" inputs, so you can plug in mics via adapters. I have some recording notes and instrument info in the long video description - basically, I built it up piece-by-piece. I played drums first, then rhythm guitar, keys, bass and the lead guitars followed. HOpe that helps - Mike
Got that Booker T/Incredible Jimmy Smith sound down

Very nice, very retro! My older brothers band in the 60's (oregon) was the
Che-Vels. Similar music by golly.

Are the in built mics good for vocals? Or would it be better to get a decent mic for the vocals, will it make much difference?
Ive heard the vocals arent too great sounding, its more just to get ideas down.

ive bought it for myself, and you're right they are ok, not great but okay.
I know what you mean about the positioning of them, youd need a really wide mouth to be able to distriubte the sound equally to both of them lol.

does the br-600 provide phantom power to mics?
andrew11235 3 years ago
No, the inputs are just straight-up 1/4" ones - no XLR, no phantom.
mikec717 3 years ago
Well, I have a condenser mic that requires phantom power. Do I need to run it through a preamp first?
andrew11235 3 years ago
Hi - This is great - well done. I didn't think the BR600 had line-in jacks. How did you connect the keyboards please?
furzeuk 3 years ago
Hey there - Yes, it does have line-ins, so I just plugged the keys straight in through a quarter inch plug!

Is it possible to put a drumstel on the br-600?
And how did you recorded this?
All the instruments at the same time?
