I was playing Darkfall Early beta for months, and it was far more entertaining in many ways than Mortal Online.

Had the developers of these two games worked together and shared their ideas, a true revolutionary MMO could have been birthed. But as it stands now, both Darkfall and Mortal Online are terribly unoriginal, both lacking dearly in their combat systems

Not having played the MO beta I very much doubt that it'll be a hit.

Like you say the concept behind Darkfall is highly unoriginal, what attracted people to the game was simply the promise of FFA PvP, full loot and the sandbox setting. The game had and still has obvious flaws and is plagued by poor game design, yet lingers on simply because quite a few are willing to overlook that for the sake of these aspects alone.

I'm currently very unimpressed with MMO game developers.

I disagree. I played DF for a few months and it turned into a mind numbing laugh. The horrid/deceptive service and garbage community is what finished it for me.

I view MO as a renessance in mmorpgs. Despite the current small market and tight budget, the devs and community all share a real passion in wanting to create a game that is truly free. The games core philosophy is spot on and as long as the devs remain open, honest, and hard working this game will thrive for many years to come.
