  • Tiad, you do well my friend in making me long for the days I was able to turn on the radio and listen to the likes of Niyas and Azam Ali on local stations. Keep posting and may you be blessed.

  • Awesome pics!

  • sound turkish...

  • @capriceman1 no its not turkish. but i wish, it is a magical language or maybe just the singer it is :D

  • what is the barrier between a Sunni or Shia and a Sufi? is there a barrier?

  • @acerb45666555 Not really a barrier, just differences in thoughts and practices. Sufi's explore the more mystical side of Islam, and the main difference from what I understand b/w sunni's and shia's is that Shia's believe that leaders of Islam must be direct descendents of Muhammad PBUH but Sunni's believe it can be anyone who is worthy. But that's the cut and dry of it, there are many MANY other differences and some people may disagre with what little I have said.

  • another prime cut from Tiad

  • Great song! Love the fusion sounds and her voice and instruments Such a great wayt o bring archaic sounds into the 21st century

  • I love this song so I don't care if from afhanistan!!!

  • @PrakMij89 Not from Afghanistan, she was born in Iran and grew up in India. The only thing that makes her related even remotely to Afghanistan is that she sings some songs in Dari, a Persian/Afghani language.

  • @MrsKhan2010

the text she's singing are from the poems of the legendary poet: Rumi, whom was a Persian(Tajik) poet from Balkh (Greater Khorasan). nowadays Afghanistan

  • @lordpimmel: Azam Ali was born in Tehran. She is originated in Iran.

yes dude basically she is from afghanistan

  • @lordpimmel She was born in Iran and grew up in India, she sings in Persian, Farsi, Dari, Urdu(Hindi) and other languages.

  • @lordpimmel ....nope, born in Tehran. raised in Mumbai. then move to USA. but i bet she could sing in Pashtune or Hazara, Tadjik, etc.

  • @lordpimmel

    it doesn't matter :)

  • @God4Dunoon: I think so! ;-)

"Azam Ali was born in Iran to Sufi parents. She emmigrated to India at the age of four. There she attended an international co-educational boarding school for eleven years."

  • @tiad that was not he meaning of the question.... :)

  • @God4Dunoon:

"While pursuing formal training in various vocal traditions, like Western classical, Indian, Persian and Eastern European, Azams true passion has been to explore the immense potentiality of the human voice, specifically its capability to transcend language, culture and spiritual barriers when expressing pure emotion."
