4:36 - force of impact has nothing to do with the acceleration it took to get the fist up to speed, and everything to do with the deceleration of the fist on contact. Also it looked like the male boxer had significantly bigger gloves, probably meaning more padding over the knuckle which would increase the deceleration distance/time so decreasing the force. Not trying to take anything away from the female boxer at all, frankly its an insult that they didn't bother to make it a fair test.

In order for this test to have any weight, the initial conditions for both male and females needs to be equal. The fact that the woman uses fight gloves (10-12oz) and uses a stepping power punch whilst the male uses heavier training gloves (around 16oz) and a standing straight cross, automatically voids any result. It's obvious that this woman can hit as hard as a man (a lot harder than the average man), so why the biased conditions? Because they wanted to make sure she won, that's why. A shame.

Once again you're wrong, keeping constant variables is essential in any experiment.
The show didn't use the same variable, therefore their results are completely inaccurate.
If the guy punched the same way she did, then his force would be a shit ton higher. Ever take a science class and do experiments? Im guessing not.

Yes i have this wasn't a fair experiment it wasn't intended to be it was for guys who say "you hit like a girl" well some girls on certain punches can generate more force then guys.. 1.) Relative to body mass female muscle is capable of producing the same force as male muscle...b/c they're composed of the same material and function the same. 2.) If they were built the same and utilized the same punch with the same mechanics of course their forces would be identical. 3.) If their structural components really were equal, the force production would be a bragging right of neural performance (coordinating the whole body into a perfectly timed punch), not muscular development.

For 2 reasons : first the muscular fibers are not the same (in a muscle there are differents type of muscular fiber , long fiber and short ones, short giving power, long giving stamina) and the second reason is called hormons like testosterone or creatine (either if creatine is not an hormon, but used the hormon term for showing the point).

@balboafist Do your research, you're years behind on your terminology. If you actually mean type I and type II muscle fibers- yes they produce different forces..that's not the topic at hand. Relative to body mass the average female will have the same ratio of type I: type II muscle fibers as the average male- and with similar mass and structure they're going to produce the same forces.

i do sports science at a university level. and of course it was balanced looking at the bio-mechanics the man does not use the explosive power of the triceps as the female does, and from information we know about the muscles is that the triceps can deliver a massive amount of force. if they both had punched with the same technique he would have seen a difference.

Due to video editing it appears that she hit 2nd, when it is obvious that she hit 1st. I am sure if the male hit 1st he would have blew the dummies head off too... I also kinda wonder why non of the males got running starts like she did. Not a valid experiment if you ask me. They did prove females can hit hard but I dont they can lb for lb with a male really trying his best.

Ok, for one, she was way closer to the dummy, and two, the guy did a direct jab-like hit, she used a roundhouse type of punch which always hits harder. If he had done a roundhouse the dummy's head might have come off the whole way.

meaningless. you can't compare this way, because the punches styles are completely different. in the EXACT same conditions, men will probably win. punch techniques and style make a world of difference. a kungfu master of 60kg can produce almost the same power of a heavy-weight boxer.

Look at all these idiots justifying that she "cheated". She obviously has a better form than the male boxer, and that pivot she does on the dummy punch is a definite sign of that. Even the scientific explanation points that out, and by the end she mentions that she punch like "a coordinated athlete".
I honestly think this test has too many ignored factors, especially since boxing techniques aim to create an EFFECTIVE amplification of brute strength.
