The problem with this is that roughly 10% of people that are in the system are going to actually be out in open space, they are rather going to be on their poses, cloaked, in a safespot gazilion aus from anywhere near any planets or asteroid belts, oooor, they are going to be docked in stations. All this adds up to a already tedious scanning, mainly talking bout low-sec rather then null.
Extremely helpful for a noob. Hearing alliance/corpmates explain it over vent vs. actually seeing someone demonstrate it are completely different. Thanks for the vid.
using the onboard scanner is and always will be one of the most important elements of pvp. When i lead roaming gangs I normally FC them, but I'm also scout because I can jump into a system and locate a pilot within about 5-20 seconds.
A combination scout and FC often gets separated from the fleet and is repeating over and over "what's happening" as the fleet is trying to tell them "we've been jumped".
Just about every time I've seen an FC go and try to bait or scout ahead it has resulted in the death of the fleet.
FC needs eyes on their own fleet and good coms with his scouts, but soon as they leave system the fleet is good as dead if initiative is lost.
thanks for the tutorial

That the directional scan only checked for where the camera was pointing was pretty mind blowing.
Duker89 2 years ago

Good video, I knew nothing about the techniques you'd mentioned. I just figured "scanning" automatically meant using combat probes, etc.
