Seeing this video makes me feel as though I made a big mistake by trashing my 1994 Previa early last year to spend around 37 grand on fully equipped 2009 Sienna. I wish I had spent that money on my old van instead. If I did that I might have spent a lot less than what I spend on my Sienna and would been driving a great ride by now.

Previas are made RWD or some AWD. they are great and I always mess around with it even it has like 160k miles.

it probably would also need some custom floorboards (to fit the motor and still give it some room to cool a bit), and of course using a 2WD model (so you can swap out the drivetrain to

a toyota 8.8 rear axle if need be for gear tuning and power handling)

The previa engine is much smaller than any engine you'll see. It's tilted at an angle too...

Although you can TRY to upgrade the engine, I doubt it. But if it's possible, I'd recommend you stick with a non SCed previa model, as i've heard their differentials are made for high rpms, and the s/ced are made for comfort.

that won't fit... and plus the turbos will take up too much room, and due to the inherent flaws of cooling on this van turbo should not even be looked at as an option...

I've been looking into tricking out a Previa too, and my choice of engine would probably be the 5VZ-E motor...

It will still need modding to the floorboards and engine bay itself, but it should be WAY less of a hassle on cooling (probably do a cut out on either side of the van and run a scoop and some ducting)

theres not much you can do to modify them , all i could do is a cold air filter and wrap headers w a turbo muffler. but the muffler free flowing i lost lots of torque but gained mpg's. what is a 5vz-e motor you speak of, who makesit??

the 5VZ-E, btw, is the 3.4 liter V6 motor used in the 3rd Gen 4Runners, last generation Tacomas, 1st generation Tundras, and other rear / 4wd vehicles in the U.S. Toyota lineup...

it's reliable, accepts power upgrades pretty damn well, and accepts supercharging pretty good as well, thus nearly eliminating the worry of heat soak that turbocharged motors would have.
