Damn , being Argentinian this feels terribly shameful and awkward... i can't believe the man actually went ahead to translate the "waking up the baby" one... shivers...
No wonder she stopped the thing short after realizing what dumb and childish custom this is... the actor saying those "piropos" is also terrible and his cheesy overact hurts! I hope people wont think we are all this retarded in Argentina after seeing this.
Im Argentinian and this is a way of just getting you cock suck.. Ashamed .. Then your not a true Argentina.. This is culture. At least we dont look for love online.. Sopla le vela y Comete la torta.
I think he was trying to say "back side." Here's a piropo one of the locals taught me: (Referring to a woman's legs) "If those are the train tracks, I would like to see the station." If you don't speak castellano, but you ever get the chance to visit the beautiful land of Argentina, I strongly suggest you invest in Rosetta Stone and Learn Latin American Spanish. It is not cheap, but it is well worth it. I studied for only 3 months prior to my visit but it made all the difference in the world.
Jane Pauley's quizzical looks are priceless. She generally kept her feelings to herself. However, when she had doubts about where a segment was going, she was not too subtle in signaling her feelings to the viewer (such as that time in the Brokaw-Pauley "Today" years when she told a guest to the effect of "I hope that you'll come back with MORE interesting ideas.") She seems to have thought that this one was worthwhile in the end. I believe that it was worthwhile and informative, in some sense.

I remember watching Today during the show's South American trip -- this was in February 1986. A great piece of history!
