Looking through the Benoit story, there are two scenarios to this. A) He had an extremely damaged brain and couldn't help it. And that sucks but I wont judge him. B) He is innocent with all the little things that don't even add up. Example #1, they reported that Chris died some time in Saturday but the text messages were sent early Sunday around 3:30 AM.
My philosophy is that, I was not there. I don't have all the facts, so I have no right to judge anybody. All I know is that he was a phenomenal wrestler. All I knew him as was a Wrestler, so that's all I can judge him as.
Still say ,regardless of what happened in his personal life, his in ring talent should get him into the hall of fame.Still one of the best to lace up a pair of boots.Besides sre we forgetting the results of the brain scan? His brain was so messed up he MAY not have known at the time it was wrong. Not defending him in any way,but my father had Alzheimers and he was fine one moment ,totally incoherent the next.
what a perfect ending!! great booking of a match!! I don't like matches that have a million 2 counts and escapes. this one built and finished with a great finishing suplex
owen hart was the greatest wrestler of all time, no one can prove otherwise. the dude would work a fucking hour long match if he had to, and put anyone over on top of it.
no one will ever come close to the match these two put on.
@DZShizzam i beg to disagree, because owen was the more complete package. owen did EVERYTHING. show me one moonsault or tope that benoit owen couldn't. you can't.
In 1995 Benoit got a tryout match on RAW with Owen Hart. In one way it's a pity Benoit was signed back then as he could've had so many good matches in the WWF but then again he did that anyway in WCW with more diverse talent.
@Killedbyamen There was... All of the head shots, concussions, other head injuries etc... All did a massive number on his brain. People just don't understand that he wasn't in his right mind. The brain damage that was done to him over his wrestling career was a major contributing factor.
@xtrident60 ...Almost all serious, professional athletes have been exposed to the same type of injuries you described---- how many have murdered their family??
@flipgood89 But to what extent? Who knows how badly Benoit's brain was damaged? I don't condone what he did by any means, but lets not be ignorant and just call him a murderer when it's obvious something wasn't right. FYI - People aren't all the same. They all handle things differently.
@xtrident60 Just so you all know, I do not respect Chris Benoit as a human being after what he did, and it still amazes me how willing people are to just accept his murderous rampage and move on. What I am against however is the censorship of footage of him by WWE, supposedly done out of a sense of morality but really done to cover their own arses. This ain't WWE footage so I uploaded it, because I believe we should be able to decide for ourselves what we watch. I still watch Polanski films.
@KingOfPuroresu What are people supposed to do? It happened and can't be changed. We have to accept that it happened whether we want to or not. I don't think there is one person out there that is "okay" with what he did. But people have different opinions and understandings of why it happened.
@KingOfPuroresu As for WWE censoring footage, it's not surprising to me. I too agree we should all be able to decide what we watch, but there are a lot of people that don't see it that way and want their hands held and pointed in a direction.
@xtrident60 ....Im not being ignorant. Of course there was something wrong with him....all cold blooded murderers who commit heinous acts have something wrong with them. Benoit had enough good sense to complete his WWE bookings and maintain that schedule. He also took the cowards way out by killing himself, so he was clearly aware of the consequences. This was calculated...Again, if we can judge other murderers for their acts, what makes Benoit so special? Cause he was a great wrestler?
@flipgood89 Because of who he was before all of this. I didn't know Benoit one way from another, but the things everyone had to say about him, the people that were close to him. I.e. the people of WWE had nothing bad to say about the guy. It's easy to sit back and see what he did and simply label him as a murderer. For me personally, when I read about what was wrong with his brain I decided not to simply classify him as a murderer.
@xtrident60 ....I want to disagree with you here. A lot of people have commented on Benoit's lack of mental stability. Paul London had a shoot interview where he called Benoit "Tri-polar" and basically said he was a psycho that controlled and intimidated younger wrestlers. And again, if I cant "sit back and call him a murderer" when he committed an act of murder, then who is ever worthy of condemnation? Sure he had things wrong with him, who doesnt. He killed innocent people. End of story
@flipgood89 I said you can call him a murderer, anyone can. I said I wasn't going to due to the knowledge that I gained on the many problems wrestlers experience. I didn't see the Paul London interview, but if that's what he said it really just solidifies my argument all the more. The things Benoit had wrong with him I'd wager most people don't. You can't tell me you don't think Benoit's case was a bit different with years and years of physical abuse?
@xtrident60 Stop making excuses for that sorry sack of shit. He still knew right from wrong. He knew what he was doing. If he didn't then why did he make those bullshit phone calls to WWE personel about "food poisoning"? He was a coward and so are you for not being able to face reality. Does he really mean that much to you? Try feeeling sorry for Nancy and Daniel instead of his sorry ass. You people make me sick.
@trekfanful Has anyone who has defended him, or said they don't think he was sane said, "I'm okay he killed his wife and kid, since he wasn't thinking correctly." I don't think so, I haven't, and I haven't seen anyone else. We don't believe what he did was right in any way, but we think there is more to it. We can think that if we want without being called cowards. Excuse me for thinking beyond what you are and wanting to know more. Shame on me and the rest of us.
@trekfanful@trekfanful I read through your replies to others, and you need to realize that none of us are "cold blooded murderers" either. And everyone is entitled to their opinion. They can worship the guy for his wrestling ability if they want, or they can think he wasn't in his right mind, which is what I think. Quit calling everyone a coward and comparing us to him. It's people like you that can't debate but have to personally attack others that makes me sick.
@xtrident60 Of course you believe he wasn't in his right mind because that is what you want to believe. If he wasn't then why the bullshit phone calls? why the strange text messages. Why tie Nancy up? Why drug Daniel? Why the Bibles? Like I said before I am sure that he did go off the deep end. But he was well aware of what he was doing. Chris Benoit was never deemed mentaly incompetant. Neither was ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer. If you wish to debate this I am most certainly up for it.
@xtrident60 So you believe their was more to it? What then seemed pretty cut and dried to me. There was a history of violence between Benoit and his wife. It is established fact that she was afraid of him. Didn't she say if anything ever happened to her to look at him? Didn't she have a restraining order against him at one point. I think that she would know if he was dangerous. Unlike you or even me. We did not know the "man". She did. Seems to me had a pretty clear idea of what he was.
@trekfanful I don't doubt that for a second. I think he did it. But I'm not going to condemn anyone if I wasn't there and plus thats not my job. I'm also not gonna just stop watching matches that he was is because of what he did. What he did was 100% wrong. But that doesn't change the fact that he had some amazing wrestling matches that I enjoyed. And the fact he had amazing wrestling matches doesn't change the fact that he murdered his wife and son. If someone cant watch a Benoit match,
@AmericanWolves13 I don't judge them, and frankly, I understand. However, I don't expect to be judged because I CAN watch a Benoit match, and just because I can watch a Benoit man, and think he was a great wrestler, that doesn't mean I'm trying to forgive or condone what he did. It just means I can watch a wrestling match that he was in, and enjoy it, while also realizing that in the last three days of his life, he killed his wife, son, and then himself.
@flipgood89 I would expect Benoit to due hard time and pay for his actions had he not killed himself, but I also think he would of had somewhat of a legit "excuse" in that he was unstable in his mental state. It's my opinion that right and wrong when it comes to killing someone is black and white. I don't know that I'd ever let anyone get away with "murder" due to insanity as I couldn't believe anyone could ever be THAT messed up in the head. But Benoit definitely had something amiss.
@xtrident60 He went off the deep end but he still knew right from wrong. Everything he did over the course of that weekend indicates that he knew exactly what he was doing. He was a coward in my book. I'm disgusted with these people all over the internet who praise him simply because he was a good wrestler. He doesn't deserve credit for anything but being a cold blooded son of a bitch. There should not be anyone who has anything good to say about him.
@xtrident60 ....thats fine, but I will say this. I hope you are not valuing his wrestling ability, over the lives of two innocent people. It seems like a lot of benoit fans want to forgive the unforgivable, just because he put on great matches in New Japan.
@flipgood89 I am not, as I never really recognized him while he was wrestling. What I value is the knowledge I have gained reading up on these wrestlers that have died, or committed suicide, or in Benoit's case murder suicide and seeing that most of them have suffered from the same kind of things. Head trauma, substance abuse, pain pills, drugs etc...
@flipgood89 I don't doubt for a minute that Benoit didn't suffer from a few of those things, taking at least a good portion of rational behavior from him. Like I said in an earlier post I believe to you. People are different and handle things, even the same things dealt to them differently. Again, I in no way condone what he did, but I find it hard to believe he went that long always being a "murderer".
@xtrident60 Exactly. These people just won't understand until something similar happens in there family, Not like I want that to happen to anybody but it's true.
@Killedbyamen ....oh please. This is like a cult of Chris Benoit or something. What do you mean we have no right to judge.
