Does listening to free music and watching sponsored internet based shows count? 'Cause I'we been doing that for the last two years. What regular TV I want to watch is released online anyways by the corresponding channels.
Also, in the 80's and 90's Movie companies and the music industry sold products (albums / movies). However today we are buying services instead, the right to consume unlimited amounts of Music or movies with services like Netflix, Zune pass, Pandora and others. Just something I thought I'd point out. I believe this is why internet piracy sprung up in popularity in early 2000 with things like Napster. At that point no one provided music or movies as a service.

This just simply won't pass, but that doesn't mean we should ignore it. It doesn't make sense for it to pass. It would hurt absolutely everyone, and when that idea comes about, it tends not to pass.

The reason it ends then is because the Mayans had a very long calender, and they died off before they could reset it. So it's really not anything. If our calender ends December 31st, 2011, we'll just set up a new calender that starts January 1st, 2012. The Mayans didn't predict anything, they just never renewed their calender because they disappeared. No prediction, nothing will happen.

Anyone with some experience on the matter can correct me, but I'm fairly certain that you could consider the IP indexes in routers to be subject to this bill as well. Meaning that you effectively should block a entire country(if that country refused to block the IP on their end) away, in order to prevent access to a so called "rogue" site.

@GeorgedIDK To send a clear message, that should be declared as a boycott on the entertainment DISTRIBUTION industry, i.e. MPAA, RIAA, and all of their members, complicit in writing this legislation, should it pass. At the same time, buy music and media actually owned by the artist, as opposed to "Copyright © [large distributor]".
(And to show some principles: Don't download media you're 'boycotting'. There's plenty good stuff other artists will give you for free anyways.)

Also, in the 80's and 90's Movie companies and the music industry sold products (albums / movies). However today we are buying services instead, the right to consume unlimited amounts of Music or movies with services like Netflix, Zune pass, Pandora and others. Just something I thought I'd point out. I believe this is why internet piracy sprung up in popularity in early 2000 with things like Napster. At that point no one provided music or movies as a service.

The reason it ends then is because the Mayans had a very long calender, and they died off before they could reset it. So it's really not anything. If our calender ends December 31st, 2011, we'll just set up a new calender that starts January 1st, 2012. The Mayans didn't predict anything, they just never renewed their calender because they disappeared. No prediction, nothing will happen.

There's nothing in the bill that points to any specifics about what is fair use, or what is legal in terms of video footage, music, games etc. Every website that involves user-generated content from vids to even pictures will be forced to shut down. There's so much more to it than that, and it can affect more than the internet.
