  • Dr. House!

  • Is the PS1 version any good?

  • Have you played Pizza Syndicate? I remember playing it as a kid and it was tons of fun.

  • this kinda reminds me of that "simply hospital " game on facebook :P just a little :P

  • Have you bought these old PC games when they were new, or have you done so afterwards?

  • @latuman Some I've had since they were new, most I've collected in the past 6 years or so.

  • On level 10 on the playstation version at the moment, this game is just pure joy.

  • Remember playing this a looooong time ago, used to love it so much!

  • you said "a wee bit" <3 scotland loves you

  • I still have this game; it's one of the most fun of all time!

  • I love this game, so many good memories!

  • Love all your reviews , great job as always .. I wish they made a updated version, minus the cons you've mentioned .. anywho, the game is now a free legitimate download ..

  • great review :)

  • Wow the boxes are huge.

  • I really hate that pre toystory CGI in this video game.

  • aaaah Bullfrog... how i miss you :)

  • ive got this on CD ROM and it plays fine on normal windows :)

  • @cashmachineband Great! Although now I wonder what abnormal Windows is...

  • Just allow the staff to go to the staff room at 40% tiredness and they will almost never ask for a raise.

  • i remember beating this game,satisfaction :)

  • I couln't pass the 6th stage!

I agree with the guy asking for a Dungeon Keeper's review!

  • "the patients are asked to not die in the waiting rooms. thank you." i always used to laugh at these announcements when i was a kid.

  • firing staff is what i do when they are too unhappy (wrong attitude). But you have to know how to manage your staff, keep them well rested, keep them warm and dont have too few of em, cause lines are deadly.

Building your hospital is simple when you understand the flow. Keep patients seperated, keep a toilet nearby the seating area, keep consultant in the offices, never build useless diagnostics rooms that rarely give a cure unless you have no cures. Seperate cure and diagnosis areas.

  • Didn't you see the Syndicate Wars cameo too ? ;)

  • I coded it over to Mac

But you must have the original game for the recode tool to work

Pm me if you want a copy of the tool

  • Are you an android? You talk like one.

  • @Kirbster10 Yes. Problem, human?

  • @phreakindee lol

  • @phreakindee I loved this game so much! I wish they made more Theme type games...have u played Transport Tycoon - if u haven't, you should¬!

  • @Kirbster10 U mad, bro?

  • How many games do you own? And how does your computer run all of them so easily?

  • @ReaninLove I don't know how many games Clint has. But I know that he uses multiple systems for multiple eras.

  • I downgraded from win7 to XP to play this game along with some others, have not regretted that decision

  • This was soooooo funny the head exploder WTF? lol

  • I got it recently, and play it on Dosbox on Win7 :D

  • KITTENS

  • I used to play this all the time :'D

  • I <3 this game! i used to play it all the time

  • How is the failure thing disturbing

  • Great game. One of my favourite.

  • This game is just awesome! i got it back in the day and played it until 2009 (it does work on XP), but never beat it. still, it's really enjoyable, you should try it

  • Really Dr Groper, that's a sexual harassment suit if i ever heard one.

  • I have a copy that works on windows XP.

  • I remember good old theme park! That games was fun (for me)!

  • You sound like a robot.

  • Are you going to do theme park INC, World?

  • @EllisesTeddyBear Eventually, yes. I'll probably review the first game, Theme Park, before the others though.

  • @phreakindee yes please

  • Are you going to review any other Bullfrog's games, like Dungeon Keeper 1 and/or 2? I haven't tried DK1, only DK2, but I really like it alot. Many say though that DK1 is way better than it's sequel. I would love to see your opinion about Dungeon Keeper games!

  • I actually found a (I think Windows-only) copy of this at a charity book sale about 12 months ago and, much to my surprise, it ran natively on my 32-Bit Windows Vista laptop with no modification.

I agree, it is a great game that runs well (Though it needs a framerate limiter) and there's another newer game that's so similar you could swear it was a sequel (I think it was called Hospital Tycoon).

  • Me and a friend used to call this "Theme Hospitalk" back in the day, due to a mistyped installation folder. Yes, it's a really really really fun game, especially for a kid. (The illnesses alone were hilarious.)

    Good stuff.

  • Nice review, I remember playing this and I have to agree with you.

  • love dungeon keeper (horny i the intro) but this is a awsome game to.

  • Thanks for the review. Looks like a fun game

  • Great. Also, CorsixTH is the best way to play this game for me.

  • What happend to your intro?

  • @SmuSh656 And drop quality? No.

  • have you got the names of any dos pcs i can easily find on ebay

    thanks

  • @ThePichu7892 You're not really going to be looking for names, like you would for a console or something. Mostly what you're going to be looking out for are specs and what it has going on internally. I have an entire video dedicated to what to look for in a DOS machine, check my channel. watch?v=sxMXJd4GDyc

  • 'Dr required in inflator room' - ahhh the memories!

  • "maybe some bitches" =P

  • OH god i had this game when i was so young

  • OH this bring back memories...<3

@phreakindee I would love to see you do a review on Dungeon Keeper!

  • Comment removed

  • Game i played when i was 10 this... Really fun today although i played crysis 2 n all that. But this still win my heart. I also keep the data so fortunately i can play it any time! :D

  • HOUSE

  • If you own a PS3 and you want to play this game, you can buy it on the PSN store... it's in the PSone Classics section.

  • phreakindee you should check out Game Tycoon Game it is centered around the full production of video-game making; from production of an engine, concept design, physical design, packaging, licensing deals, market campaigns, and reviews.

The game starts off in 1982 with somewhat limited availability of features. Eventually, more options are made for engines and packaging, etc.It sounds a little dull but its really interesting you should try it and maybe if you like it make a review

  • its nice to see you like the british sense of humor, i've never played theme hospital but i have played theme park world which was fun and cool but i could never make it past the first level...

  • this was a cool game! I had it on the PS1 and found it fun but hard to control and go through menus, due to the controller. Mouse and keyboard is a must for this.

  • About the staff AI, why don't you just order the doctors to stay in their rooms? Or hire enough doctors so that you'll always have a spare one wandering around the hallways, always ready to go and answer to emergencies and such?

  • Any chance for a review of the RollerCoaster Tycoon games or Theme Park itself?

  • @TapGage Eventually, yes, I plan on it.

  • Comment removed

  • Before I watch any of it: YESS!!! FINALY!!! :D

  • @phreakindee Actually I should have specified. I have the EA CLassics CD-Rom edition, and it doesn't have the DOS version. Until this video I didn't know there was a dos version.

  • @ModernDoomer89 Ah. Well, if you have Windows 7 I've heard of some people having luck getting it to run with the Virtual PC it comes with. Otherwise, if you don't have the DOS one, I'm really not sure what else to tell you to try if the compatibility options don't work with the Windows version. Maybe there are some patches out there, but not being too familiar with the Windows version I'm really not sure.

  • @phreakindee The virtual PC made my head hurt, but I found a strange fix. I could get it started in Win 7 compat mode but the colours were messed. For some reason though, opening "Screen Resolution" and leaving it on before opening the .exe fixed the colours. When someone told me to try that I thought they were yanking my chain but it worked o.O worked for Dungeon Keeper as well!

  • Bullfrog!!! So annoying they split up before Dungeon Keeper 3, remember the teaser on Dungeon Keeper 2.. Was waiting for that game for about 5 years until I found out that reality is harsh :(

  • @Shardok1 Bummer dude!

  • I'm totally going to install this on my computer again and start playing, thanks!

  • I love this game. Back then Bullfrog guarantied quality and fun in their games. Speaking of "hospital games, does anyone remember Biing? Not really good game, but it was ...eh... interesting

  • This game is amazing. I absolutely love it, Bullfrog created some amazing games in their time.

  • Thomson MO5 review.

  • The thing I remember most about Theme Hospital is that there was some cheat which made you shoot rats after completing a level.

  • I loved this game, didn't finish it though, but I played it quite a lot :) I still have the original box :D

  • "If you can find a copy..." Heh, you usually can't move for TH boxes over here. Also, can't believe you cut the guy getting yanked off stage when you select an option! Thanks for another great video.

  • Awesome game. I still have those sounds in my head, "Doctor... attending psychiatry please!", lol.

  • last time i played this i was 4 in 2004

  • Now to wait for Theme Park...

  • Theme Hospital!! This was my first Management Sim as a kid and still one of my favourites. This is a great review =) I do have to ask, do you know how to get it running on Modern Computers - I know you are probably using it on an authentic machine from the time though. I really want to play it again but can't get it running. :(

  • @phreakindee Sorry for OT: What happened to your "Second Life still sucks" video? Is there any chance to still watch it? Thx.

  • @blablupp77 Someone falsely flagged it, so YouTube deleted it. You can still view it on blip.tv and iTunes

  • @phreakindee Thx! Just watched it and couldn´t agree more. My avatar is from 2007 and yes, SL still sucks.

  • @phreakindee butt-hurt fanboy? make even a little criticism and the villagers come running with torches and pitchforks.

  • I remember the KitKat vending machines (?) and Janitors who looked like psycho mass murderers. Great game but got way to hard and annoying in the later levels.

  • I haven't played theme hospital, but I have played theme park world. Fun game.

  • I just reinstalled Sim Theme Park, because I missed these types of games. Thanks for another wonderful review and helping me bring back a little nostalgia!

  • Loved this one when it came out

  • My sister used to play this CONSTANTLY.... She was obsessed with E.R.

  • Is hospital tycoon and theme hospital the same game?

  • @MissRosettaBlack Nope. Hospital Tycoon is the cheap rip-off of Theme Hospital.

  • @phreakindee I shan't be buying that then :)

  • I seem to remember purchasing this game at the store around 5 or 6 years ago and playing it on Windows XP. Have I lost my mind?

  • OMG i loved this game, but for some reason we got a jap version but that only made it more fun as me and my sisters had no idea of wot we were doing. LOL!

  • this is one of my favorite dos games

  • This is one of my favorite games from my childhood

  • Now this would make a nice port for a Social Network Game

  • hey do you think u might be able to do a review on WOLF? You might not be able to get the disk but theres ways to download it and use DOSbox to play it. I think that would be cool :D Your awesome phreakindee :P

  • There kinda is Hospital Tycoon..not as good tho..i know

  • lol bloatyhead.. that remembered me I played the game..

  • Part of me says EA's acquisitions of Bullfrog and Maxis led to the similarities between Theme Hospital's engine and The Sims 1's engine. (Some of the door sounds I heard are the same as well.)

  • I used to have this, I never got past level 1, id just make my hospital, get bored, uninstall, come back a month later, redo level 1. lol still fun though.

  • House!! I love house!! :o) Why is there not a modern version of this lol :o( Great review clint :o)

  • I loved this game, used to spend hours playing it when it came out.

  • Your channel is going to cause me to flunk out of law school. Every time I watch, I download some old DOS game and lose a day of my life...

  • I used to love this game when I was a kid. I searched for it on GOG and the result was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon®. I guess that was the closest "T" title... heh.

  • I have this video-game for the PC

  • No DosBox needed. If I recall, the Windows version works fine even on Windows 7. You might need to use the "kill explorer" trick though.

  • @uzimonkey Doesn't work for a lot of people, including me. If it does, that's cool, but I'm fine with DOSBox running it pretty flawlessly.

  • @phreakindee have you tried running it in compatibility mode? it works fine in windows 7

  • @phreakindee That happens to me on other games as well, people say it works fine on win7, but not for me.

  • oh lol i remember this game

  • I can remember playing this as a kid, and I just loved it. Great game.

  • Awesome review, thanks! Been waiting for you to make this :D

  • The japanese psx version works on a modded psp, runs pretty well and it's not a bad port

  • Awesome that you happened to review this right now, I've been playing this game again for the last few weeks and having fun with it

  • This game looks good. I have never heard of it but it looks a lot like the Tycoon games which I played a lot of. The humor in this game is more than in the Tycoon games as well.

  • This is what the Hopsital rabbit hole in the Sims 3 should be played like. Sign.

  • they need to make a newer version with more stuff :D

  • @pronija2 Agreed. I'd totally be up for a slight update to the game, a la what they did with Yoot Tower (the follow-up to SimTower). They really don't need to change much, but some additions and tweaks would be wonderful.

  • @phreakindee

that reminds me, do you have yoot tower? i really want to see a review on that game.....actually i want to see the game because i only played the sim tower lol

  • @pronija2 There is a game called Hospital Tycoon...

  • @Vantazzy Hospital Tycoon is a cheap and rather poor imitation of Theme Hospital. Not at all what I would consider a worthy update of the game and its ideas.

  • @phreakindee It is a rip off, I agree, but a game that comes near Theme Hospital with somewhat better graphics, there is Hospital Tycoon. Only HT gives more a SIMS perspective instead of TH. However, I have played TH longer then HT, TH has an addictive flavour, which HT does not have. I must have the CD somewhere, I got to find it because I want to play it again. Working with heaters, benches and all kind of stuff makes this game awesome. Maybe they should bring this game out again for windows 7

  • i wish i could find my copy of this game, but i think i lost it. :( i use to play this game alll the time. :)

  • i remember when boxes were that big! :D fantastic review, want to play again now ..

  • will this game work on a HP 2010?

  • what about sim theme park?

  • @SamBeta20 I'll cover it and the other Theme Park games sometime in the future, I hope.

  • i use to looove this game!!

  • and this video comes up while i was in a hospital...nice, come home to more medical mishaps....although theme hospital seems more fun than dka does....

  • Ahhh MEMORIES!

  • AHHH THEME HOSPITAL!! this was my favorite bullfrog game. so glad i have the soldout version so i can play it on 7

  • This, Dungeon Keeper and Constructor were my go to games for isometric building thingies.

Would be nice to see Contructor LGR'ved as it tends to fly under the radar a lot in retro gaming circles.

  • Does this mean there's a chance for a review of any tycoon games in the future?

  • Those gameover videos are disturbing! O.O

  • Its so awesome you reviewed one of my favorite games!

  • the graphics hold up so well even these days. they have a certain charm and beauty when zoomed in.

  • Dam i love Theme hospital i just can't get mine to work on Windows 7 as can't many others. But not to worry as i have XP on another computer...just this computer takes 340 mins to boot up and is in pieces...next to me...bugga

  • @DeanGetYourWings That's why I play it using DOSBox. No worries then!

  • @phreakindee hey phreakindee i know you love duke nukem and play minecraft well someone made a duke nukem mod with the same animations and voice and things you might like it

  • @DeanGetYourWings also, using windows virtual pc is also a good way to play some old games. as for dos ones though yeah, your better off with dos box

  • OH MY DOG. Ive wasted at least a hundred hours of my life on Theme Hospital. All of those deflating heads and watering plants.

Then I would go to sleep and come back to find my entire hospital littered with puke and pop cans.

    Good times!!!!!!!!!!

  • I still love this game. Brilliant that is still works; I have windows 7 and it generally hates old games, but this will run with minimal problems. I always thought the graphics were lovely too :)

  • Hmm.. How about a review of one of the Jazz Jackrabbit games? They were pretty solid PC Platformers (although with some questionable level design at times) and the music is by Alexander Brandon (The guy who did the music for Deus Ex) And it is Kick Ass.

  • @katcode I reviewed Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare a really long time ago, check my channel. I've put off reviewing the rest of the games in the series because I enjoy them so much (other than the *awful* GBA game)

  • Ah I thought you would have mentioned the open source remake known as Corsix TH

It is supposed to be everything TH is, and more with some more bug fixes and better game play

  • @BanjoGate I'd have mentioned it if I was aware of it when I made this video. I was only aware of OpenTH, which is listed in the video description. I'll post a link to that one as well.

  • @phreakindee Ah wel OpenTH never got past an alpha build if I think. Corsix is much, much further along, that 90% of what is in Corsix is in the original game. Its almost finished :)

  • @BanjoGate Hence why I didn't mention OpenTH in the video, since it was so unfinished! If I'd have known about Corsix, I would certainly have mentioned it in the video itself instead of just the description.

  • @phreakindee Perhaps a follow up video is in order. Perhaps a review of Corsix. God knows they could use it, seeing as there are about 30 posts on their forums in a month..

  • Definitely a classic, isometric 3D at his best. Great vid.

  • I managed to and don't bother if I were you. The shittest ending in videogame history.

  • i had this when i was 6 lool

  • I Loved this game when I was a kid . Stil have the PS1 Cd .. And the room size depends mostly on the biggest structure you can place. Great review

  • Also with the dungeon keeper series and populus etc. I'm hoping for the original theme park and this to appear on GOG eventually. will make things easier.

  • OMG!! This is the first PC game I owned. I still have it. I love it. It's one of my favourites, aside from the Sims series.

  • This is one of my favourite games of all time i think.

  • What about a "Theme" retrospective? :)

  • OMG one of my favourite all time games, luckily it doesn't share the same speed issues that theme park had.
