Most shouldnt even be accredited as real schools... most are underfunded, grimy, and filled with idiots... Some HBCU's accept students with as low as 15 on the ACT... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? what do you call attending a Real University? Which one? You really shouldn't knock HBCU because if it wasn't for them alot of black students wouldn't be able to even attend college. I attend a University taht actually teaches students... HBCU's are outdated and have already served their purpose to provide education for black students during times of segregation. colleges should set a bar... at least have standards for the students that they admit... clearly some people do not belong in college. Why should stupid kids dilute the quality or prestige of a degree obtained from an otherwise good school... its sad that institutions whose main purpose is to foster education admit students who arent capable...and clearly studens who earn 14's on their ACT's should look into doing something else other than school.
You still haven't said what REAL UNIVERSITY that you attend? Are you ashamed of mentioning it? I Guess so!!! Anyway, you still sound very STUPID for making these comments. There are alot of students that don't do well on SAT or ACT but still excel in college. Prime example one of my colleagues graduated number#1 from her class in high school. Didn't do well on the ACT or SAT (She attend a Prep School) and went to a major university on probation. And guess what she graduated #1 from that college.
I'm not ashamed at all actually, I am a graduate student at Vanderbilt University. Standardized test are general assessments are important. You haven't said what university you go to...What college did your colleague graduate from..I have never heard of a college that ranks students...
I agree with some of the comments above, you couldn't take this mess anywhere and do anything with it. I have cheered and coached on EVERY level of cheerleading- all in which I have held a leadership role- and this is just disgraceful to the word "cheerleading". I am 22 and not out of touch with cheerleading, seeing as I am cheering on a college squad and coaching all stars and this makes me just shake me head...
Because if you know anything about cheering which I do as a former UCA All-Star and instructor you dont dance or do routines in that way against other schools...I can almost bet that they never have competed at any level..I've coached a high school waay better than that.....black squads really need to change....you show out with stunts!!.......

That is how you all cheer in UCA. Everyone will not do it how UCA does it and that does not make it wrong. Black schools do not need to change to do it how UCA does it as if that's the only way to cheer. These girls are having fun cheering their school on and if you feel as though it is so beneath the UCA don't click on the video. I'd hate for your UCA girls to see this since it is not of the quality you feel is proper.

Since when do students not support the VSU WOO WOO's! Somebody LIED! It is a well known fact that the WOO WOO's have been in existence before many of the people who are quick to criticize were even born! (talk about a fan base that has been around for over 30 years!) They have love all over especially from "students of various student bodies might I add!"(AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT FACT!) They clearly MOVE UP because of there population in the student size. When your student size is eligible for the MEAC, then we can talk about who is better. THEN, there will be a battle or a cheer off that will count or continue. But until then, it's pointless to continue to argue. If there isn't future battle or test to show who is better then, WHY should the debate continue??? I doubt they are MEAC ready!
Yes, but that is the opinion of one. Saying they you doubt it doesn't mean that they aren't and just because you just entered that conference doesn't necessarily give you the right to make that judgment. I'm sure somewhere along the way, someone somewhere felt the same way about WSSU's Red Squad but that didn't mean they weren't good enough either. It's not about an argument, it's mere principle.
Are you COMPLETELY missing it? I am familiar with the placement of divisions, I am also aware that WOO WOO's are legendary when it comes to STOMP AND SHAKE since you questioned what I said initially! It seems crazy that you constantly talk about them and make reference to them not being MEAC ready, yet when the arguement comes up, you then refer to the VSU as a whole!

Shouldn't you go based on the quality of the squad as opposed to the size of the school when it comes to comparing teams? The quality of SQUAD has always been the issue. The size is what places you in your DIVISION. Getting in the same division makes it worth cheering against. PLUS, you can look at our clips up here, come to a game, or even ask for a show and SEE that we are better and have been for a while. School size matters not to me, because have shut don't bigger schools... PLENTY of times.
I don't think the point here is whether WSSU is good, I'm sure we all know that but what gets me is making generalizations about WSSU. We can't speak for them one way or another, we can only assume. I think it's funny that many school's students down the cheerleaders of opposing schools but I'd bet if you were to ask WSSU cheerleaders even they (or atleast one) would be likely to say that they like or find the Woo Woo's a formidable adversary.

No that is not true at all!! I am a Maroon Tiger Cheerleader and we are most definitely one of THE BEST cheer squads out there and the BEST HBCU cheer squad so.... i dont know bout only temple and cau being the only good squads.... and Cau has nothing on my Morehouse Maroon TIger cheer squad...
Please know that the Maroon Tiger Cheerleaders are not the best HBCU cheerleaders out there. As of matter of fact? if you all didn't do jumps you wouldn't even have a purpose for cheering. I have witnessed you cheering at the local games here in Atlanta and I am not impressed at all. Good Jumps but besides that (NOTHING ELSE) and I do mean (NOTHING ELSE). By the way, the best HBCU Squad is None other than the World Renown Virginia State University Woo-Woos. I suggest you google them and see.

Thsese girls come from all over as part of recruitment to the university just in hopes of becoming one of the many girls that make this squad. Many all called yearly, but only a few are chosen. Who needs a recruitment program when you have the world renowed VSU Woo-Woo's.

As a former Grambling cheerleader, I completly agree with you. "Our" style is just that, OURS. It is culturally unique and if it dosent fit the status quo, too bad. We've (HBCU's) been doing fine to this point and will continue to do so.
I think y'all are funny. Why argue over who's the best HBCU cheer team? HBCU cheer squad's across the board need to step it up because if they went to NCA and/or UCA Nationals, they would not have much to cheer about. While Morgan has a good squad, I wouldn't dare go so far as to say that they take cheerleading to the next level! Let's be serious. If that were the case, they would be National Champs but they are not.

The Woo Woo's are not over rated, they are discussed all the time simply because they are the best. The Woo Woo's are the ORIGINATORS, and everyone else try to duplicate their cheers,and their style instead of creating one themselves.
Man your delusional. I have seen almost every HBCU cheerleading squad that counts and I can tell you VSU is just mearly ok. WSSU is the Epitome of the Stomp/Shake style. The Woo-Woo's are not that impressive. There moves are akward and choppy. The cheers sound more like songs. They sing the words instead of cheering. They dont shake that well, its like washing machine shaking. I really truley dont understand how they got this powerhouse cheerleading title.
You are not delusional. I, too, have seen countless HBCU cheerleading squads and VSU is a whole lot more than just merely OK. We radiate towards what we like out of sheer preference. So the Woo Woos have precise moves and song-like cheers; but, isn't that why we love them? You're right--they DON'T cheer, they WOO, and I honestly have seen them, I HAVE SEEN THEM, shut Winston-Salem down AT Winston-Salem.
I don't know who Winston-Salem makes sit down and shut up but it is certainly not the Woo Woos. I respect and like Winston-Salem, but if you were to ask me, I think they are the ones that are overrated. They can cheer, but to us it's not the WOO. The Woo Woo Crew is the squad that taught me how to cheer back in High School, so I'm not downing them. But I do think they are over rated. I grew up off of watch the Woo Woo's smash them Rah Rah's @ the Gold Bowl every year and I thought they were it, but when I got to college in NC... if was a COMPLETELY different world. I had to readjust myself, and my cheering techniques.
Yea HOWARD totally fired them! and them WOO WOOS are OVERRATED! HU cheerleaders are very talented not only can they shake it like a milk shake so to speak they also can Dance Stunt and TUMBLE *flip* them HU girls are really getting some were i was at their homecoming game and boy did these girl did it up! I've never really heard of Howard's cheerleaders before, but they are good! They really belong in CIAA, not MEAC. Either way, it'll be great to see them go against WSSU's Skirt Shakers like that. Sorry, but they kinda pushed A&T back in that video.
Kinda reminds me of the Hampton and NSU cheerleading battles....those use to be tight....Hampton's would be out for blood on those girls..I never new A&T and Howards were at each other too lol
FAMU is the largest still although they have dropped significantly in numbers, A&T is one of the fastest growing HBCU and in 5-10 years has been predicted to hit 16,000 the biggest an HBCU has been. However the biggest in no order are: FAMU (1st), TxSU, A&T, Southern University, and Howard Univ.

colleges should set a bar... at least have standards for the students that they admit... clearly some people do not belong in college. Why should stupid kids dilute the quality or prestige of a degree obtained from an otherwise good school... its sad that institutions whose main purpose is to foster education admit students who arent capable...and clearly studens who earn 14's on their ACT's should look into doing something else other than school.

There are alot of students that don't do well on SAT or ACT but still excel in college. Prime example one of my colleagues graduated number#1 from her class in high school. Didn't do well on the ACT or SAT (She attend a Prep School) and went to a major university on probation. And guess what she graduated #1 from that college.

I agree with some of the comments above, you couldn't take this mess anywhere and do anything with it. I have cheered and coached on EVERY level of cheerleading- all in which I have held a leadership role- and this is just disgraceful to the word "cheerleading". I am 22 and not out of touch with cheerleading, seeing as I am cheering on a college squad and coaching all stars and this makes me just shake me head...

Because if you know anything about cheering which I do as a former UCA All-Star and instructor you dont dance or do routines in that way against other schools...I can almost bet that they never have competed at any level..I've coached a high school waay better than that.....black squads really need to change....you show out with stunts!!.......

That is how you all cheer in UCA. Everyone will not do it how UCA does it and that does not make it wrong. Black schools do not need to change to do it how UCA does it as if that's the only way to cheer. These girls are having fun cheering their school on and if you feel as though it is so beneath the UCA don't click on the video. I'd hate for your UCA girls to see this since it is not of the quality you feel is proper.

now, let1know84, UM we are always have been CIAA BOUND AND MEAC READY. We def, haven't forgetten where we cam from. And YES, i know they don't move out because of cheerleading squads. They clearly MOVE UP because of there population in the student size. So when your population reaches the qualification... get at us... but you have to be offered to come to the MEAC. a few are chosen... lots are rejected!

NOOOO!! You're COMPLETELY missing it. You have to qualify or reach a certain enrollment to be placed in divisions. When your student size is eligible for the MEAC, then we can talk about who is better. THEN, there will be a battle or a cheer off that will count or continue. But until then, it's pointless to continue to argue. If there isn't future battle or test to show who is better then, WHY should the debate continue??? I doubt they are MEAC ready!

Yes, but that is the opinion of one. Saying they you doubt it doesn't mean that they aren't and just because you just entered that conference doesn't necessarily give you the right to make that judgment. I'm sure somewhere along the way, someone somewhere felt the same way about WSSU's Red Squad but that didn't mean they weren't good enough either. It's not about an argument, it's mere principle.

The quality of SQUAD has always been the issue. The size is what places you in your DIVISION. Getting in the same division makes it worth cheering against. PLUS, you can look at our clips up here, come to a game, or even ask for a show and SEE that we are better and have been for a while. School size matters not to me, because have shut don't bigger schools... PLENTY of times.

I don't think the point here is whether WSSU is good, I'm sure we all know that but what gets me is making generalizations about WSSU. We can't speak for them one way or another, we can only assume. I think it's funny that many school's students down the cheerleaders of opposing schools but I'd bet if you were to ask WSSU cheerleaders even they (or atleast one) would be likely to say that they like or find the Woo Woo's a formidable adversary.

That is why is called HBCU Cheerleading. In the HBCU system they don't necessary cheer like the WHITE SCHOOLS. Its all about movement and that is what gets the crowd going. Please know that the Maroon Tiger Cheerleaders are not the best HBCU cheerleaders out there. As of matter of fact? if you all didn't do jumps you wouldn't even have a purpose for cheering. I have witnessed you cheering at the local games here in Atlanta and I am not impressed at all. Good Jumps but besides that (NOTHING ELSE) and I do mean (NOTHING ELSE). I don't feel that you are the same way, but that's OK, too; however, you have to care to some extent or you wouldn't post at all. You aren't a bad person to talk to but you can be one-sided sometimes.

I like WSSU but it's sad that it HURTS NC HBCUs to give credit to the Woo Woo's. People here know that. They HATE to say anything nice about them. Even the squads they stomp all over here give them credit, but not NC. Woo Woo's aren't loved? And you are alumni I assume. LOL. Are you aware how many high school squads (some college...LOL) in VA emulate them? If VSU didn't love them they wouldn't even participate in Work It. Why support just one cheer if you don't like your squad? That's stupid.

You are so wrong for this assumption? I am a ALUMNI of VSU class of 89. I can assure you that the Woo-Woo's aren't just loved but highly respected throughout the yard. Thsese girls come from all over as part of recruitment to the university just in hopes of becoming one of the many girls that make this squad. Many all called yearly, but only a few are chosen. Who needs a recruitment program when you have the world renowed VSU Woo-Woo's.

Why should we as HBCUs have to conform to the "National Standards" of cheerleding. We are different peoples with different styles. The two should not hve to be compared. Why not let he NCA conform to HBCU standards.

As a former Grambling cheerleader, I completly agree with you. "Our" style is just that, OURS. It is culturally unique and if it dosent fit the status quo, too bad. We've (HBCU's) been doing fine to this point and will continue to do so.

I think y'all are funny. Why argue over who's the best HBCU cheer team? HBCU cheer squad's across the board need to step it up because if they went to NCA and/or UCA Nationals, they would not have much to cheer about. While Morgan has a good squad, I wouldn't dare go so far as to say that they take cheerleading to the next level! Let's be serious. If that were the case, they would be National Champs but they are not.

The Woo Woos will always be the best out of any HBCU. They have style and class. They can shake and move better then any other squad in the CIAA or MEAC. I have seen them put other squads to shame. SO, for all those who are hatin' on them....SHUT UP! Let the WOO WOOS of VSU do what they do best.

hmm ur WRONG now i do luv the Howard Cheerleaders BUT THE best HBUC cheerleading team is MORGON STATE UNIVERSITY they have been winning the MEAC championship 11 years in a row!they are the shit not to forget ther the *FIRST* HBCU cheerleading team *EVER* to make it to the NCA cheerleading nationals in daytona beach and beat several top White universite schools ..they got 3rd in the nation! now im not tryna hate on the WOOS WOOS but they got to compete against the best to be the best

The Woo Woo's are not over rated, they are discussed all the time simply because they are the best. The Woo Woo's are the ORIGINATORS, and everyone else try to duplicate their cheers,and their style instead of creating one themselves.

Man your delusional. I have seen almost every HBCU cheerleading squad that counts and I can tell you VSU is just mearly ok. WSSU is the Epitome of the Stomp/Shake style. The Woo-Woo's are not that impressive. There moves are akward and choppy. The cheers sound more like songs. They sing the words instead of cheering. They dont shake that well, its like washing machine shaking. I really truley dont understand how they got this powerhouse cheerleading title.

You are not delusional. I, too, have seen countless HBCU cheerleading squads and VSU is a whole lot more than just merely OK. We radiate towards what we like out of sheer preference. So the Woo Woos have precise moves and song-like cheers; but, isn't that why we love them? You're right--they DON'T cheer, they WOO, and I honestly have seen them, I HAVE SEEN THEM, shut Winston-Salem down AT Winston-Salem.

I don't know who Winston-Salem makes sit down and shut up but it is certainly not the Woo Woos. I respect and like Winston-Salem, but if you were to ask me, I think they are the ones that are overrated. They can cheer, but to us it's not the WOO. The Woo Woos are innovative simply because they do what they do the way that they do. I don't call it hating, perhaps misunderstanding. Patriots are without honor in their own land.

The Woo Woo Crew is the squad that taught me how to cheer back in High School, so I'm not downing them. But I do think they are over rated. I grew up off of watch the Woo Woo's smash them Rah Rah's @ the Gold Bowl every year and I thought they were it, but when I got to college in NC... if was a COMPLETELY different world. I had to readjust myself, and my cheering techniques.

I've never really heard of Howard's cheerleaders before, but they are good! They really belong in CIAA, not MEAC. Either way, it'll be great to see them go against WSSU's Skirt Shakers like that. Sorry, but they kinda pushed A&T back in that video.

FAMU is the largest still although they have dropped significantly in numbers, A&T is one of the fastest growing HBCU and in 5-10 years has been predicted to hit 16,000 the biggest an HBCU has been. However the biggest in no order are: FAMU (1st), TxSU, A&T, Southern University, and Howard Univ.
