I like the rock in the background... \m/\m/... I've been moving my own bees to a staging yard today and yesterday... In a week they'll be heading to the Sacramento area... I'm quite sore as I don't have my own forklift and flatbed... :o I hope they do well this year... I'd like to have a great winter and do a lot of splits next Spring... :)
It's very dark! It would be safer with more light. I also noticed you're headlights are yellow / white.
I suggest a red light filter. You won't get bees investigating the lights. They can't see red. There's also red led spotlights and red compact floresants out there.
Good footage. Thanks for sharing. I need this sort of footage for my club meetings. I can't get enough of it to show exactly what it is we are doing at night. I show clips on my camera, but this is all setup for me already. Cool! checkout Beekeepers Association of Southern California. - search for us.
do you work for the beekeeper or almond grower? nice load of bees and great footage, i counted 548 hives with what was on the simi, on the ground, and on the other truck. i work for a beek in mission BC who runs 2000 hives and do the pollination on the blueberries, cranberries then canola in alberta. it's a way of life for sure.
Good job keep up the good work. I am taking a beekeeping class at calpoly slo right now and Im inspired to start my own beekeeping business, especially when i see fufilling footage like this. thx
During the summer we operate all of our bees in Kansas. In Kansas is where we personally make most of our honey. During the winter months we ship every alive hive out to California for almond pollination. The pollination is more profitable than the honey sales right now.
I'm a beekeeper in Switzerland. Thanks for your video. Did you face the "colony collapse disorder" syndrom this year? Is this why pollination is more profitable than honey sales a the moment: hives are getting rare?
What do you think is the cause of this syndrom? We hear a lot of things about that...
