Azure Kite was an AI created by Aura to help protect "The World". Kite's player comes back in .Hack//LINK which takes place in 2020. The final .Hack//G.U. game takes place in 2017. Also, in .Hack//LINK, Kite and Azure Kite coexsist in the same series. I hope this helped some of you... :)
If you play the first game, Black rose sends Haseo a e-mail saying how her brother is awake from his coma and that she quit so that her brother wont play again ^^

Well what happened with Kite was that after he save The World C.C. Corp deleted and banned his character because he no longer had his bracelet and he also stopped playing before that. BlackRose also quit and then in the .hack//G.U. series Aura created the Azure Knights to destroy anomalies like AIDA cuz she was asleep...atleast that's what I've read.
His character wasn't able to be deleted since that his character was so well protected by the bracelet, that the system administrators couldn't even find a way to break it. Although he did stop playing before the acident that cause The World to lose 80% of its data. Aura just recovered the remaining data fragments of Kite's original character data
I would love to see Kite and Azure Kite face each other. The copy would PWN the original.lol AZURE FLAME GOD!!!! Oh, and Aura kept the FULL player data of Balmung, Orca, and Kite, before the fire. The reason they're dark and corrupted is because in the middle of their creation, the abnormality AIDA tried to take them over. So Aura had stopped the process, making the knights, incomplete, and she gave Azure Kite a fractured Twilight Bracelet and the Azure Flame God form, to combat AIDA

"She wasn't done" is symbolic meaning they're incomplete AI, considering the real players who used the original avatars were not playing them. So the zombified look was on purpose, because the avatars were supposedly destroyed during the death of the first World program. But otherwise yup, that was their purpose.

well there is only one .hack//sign. It takes place during the beta days of The World, prior to the games. Azure Kite, along with the Azure Orca and Azure Balmung are AIs created by Aura in order to protect her from AIDA.
She used the remnant data of the most powerful .hackers from the previous incident (Kite, Orca and Balmung) and created the Azure Knights.
