these horses are a symbol of all americans. they ARE the wild and free spirit that attracted so many people to america. We still have our freedom, let them keep theirs.
My 2 friends and I just rescued 3 mustangs. It was either adoption or slaughter so we saved them. I think it's so sad that this is happening to them. I wish there was more that we could so
I have a strawberry roan and a palomino filly from Salt Wells Creek (BLM). They are 5 years old now and are starting their saddle training. They are both very smart horses! The roan has 4 white socks and 4 black long stockings above the white. The little palomino is very people-friendly, always has been. The roan is very intuitive toward people. A friend needed some horse time and Scout was there for her and let her snuggle and hold her! Both are wonderful horses.
How well they do without us! No horse should be in captivity... this free and wild is how they were meant to be! Damn cattle grazing - leave the horses alone!
@beaelliott How will WE do without THEM? Have Americans completely forgotten upon who's backs we settled this country? Have we forgotten our heritage? Have we forgotten that humans are not the only creatures the think and feel and suffer?
When these horses are all gone, they will not be back, and we will have lost something precious and irreplaceable. I am saddened and sickened.
@MorganLver I'm glad you used the PAST tense... We do not "need" these horses NOW. I am not in favor of making all the wild horses go anywhere! Where do you get that idea? I'm all for letting them have the land that was promised to be protected FOR them --- NOT for COWS! I'd like these "round ups" made ILLEGAL because it is "Us"!
@beaelliott What are you talking about? Past tense where? I need the horses NOW - spiritually. It causes me great pain to know they are gone off their ranges.
I never said OR implied that YOU wanted the horses to go anywhere. I was AGREEING with you, for heaven's sake! And also wondering how so many of our fellow Americans can seemingly shrug off this tragedy.
Maybe you should read posts more thoroughly before you go flying off the handle, huh?
@MorganLver - Sorry... I thought you were meaning to say that we must "preserve" them in order to "use" them. There are so many people out there who only justify an animal's existence with their "purpose" to man. Many apologies. I know we are on the same side... With that of the horses's well being. ~peace~
@beaelliott Hey, don't worry about it! ;o) I agree completely that there are SO many people who only think of horses in terms of what they can use them for, and I don't necessarily consider these people horse "lovers." I have two horses myself, and only one of them is rideable. My 19 y/o QH/pony mare that I've had since she was a yearling foundered when she was 4, and, having thin soles to begin with, I haven't considered her as rideable since. That's okay. Hope she makes 40! LOL!

They are truly GREAT,have we forgotten how
In wartime they carried our brave soldiers into
battle after battle, and died alongside of us.
If those soldiers could see what we were doing with these incredible animals, well,
they would be turning over in their graves.
SHAME ON US.
SHAME ON US.
What a great tribute to these rare, beautiful
strong, intelligent, Gods gift to us......

These horses are, in a very real sense, Us.

MustangBlueWY,
I can see so many that remind of your boy. This is a great video. Someday I hope to see the mustangs in the wild myself.
