  • Just go "Down to Earth" !!

  • I think this song is from 79 isn't it?

  • AH the LP scratch- sounds great, miss that!!! Tthanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 79' be might fine!

  • isn't this James Ronnie Dio's original band?

  • Christ this guy is so manly that I could... Fuck. Whatever Id do hes right before me.

  • Ritchie Blackmore ....deep purple

  • this is not a head east song it is a song by Russ Ballard of Argent and covered by head east and Rainbow......the lead singer is Graham Bonnet

  • This version of the song totally sucks. Why did they cover a Head East song anyway? WTF???

  • @whatthefunkbiotch WHY? because Richie Blackmore can do whatever the f*ck he want- because HE'S RICHIE BLACKMORE!!! And Graham Bonnet's vocals turn that mic into a useless toilet paper roll after he's finished hollowing it out with his sonic vocals. And don't even get me started on Cozy...

  • The Head East version that this was copied from sounds much better to me.

  • Is that Glenn Hughes on vocals?

  • 0:28 Roman salute? :D

  • This is an example of what we grown-ups call "music" ;) - Excellent stuff!

  • rip cozy ;-(

  • This is a head east song and no one does it like Jon Shlitt!

  • Comment removed

  • First time i heard this song, i must have been like 10 - loved it then, still love it! one of my favourites!! love Grahams voice - f***ing AMAZING!!! :D <3

  • @DiligentSleeper Me too, a classic ;)

  • I'm 15 and i love this music! :D

  • I didn't know Jim Carrey was in Rainbow!

  • @Rexerman89 ROFL!

  • NOW I WANT ALL PEOPLE TO HEAR THIS, This is the best version "EVER" kelly clarkson is no singer and does not write her own shit. So anybody out think other wise well...you can.....ok what ever to yourselfs this i true music. PERIOD..end quote.

  • 1979 for Rainbow. Earlier for others.

  • guess the year, i think 1974

  • @danielstuartblues 1979 if i remember correctly. Album - Down to Earth.

  • is that Roger Glover on bass??? I though Richie hated him and Ian Gillan because they were the real writing talent behind Deep Purple...

  • this was the first riff i learned on the guitar and it was is still one of my favorite song i love play in front of ex girlfriend

  • Thumbs down if you come here because of Kelly Clarkson's 'Since You Been Gone'

  • blackmore makes playing the guitar look like nothing......fucking badass

  • one m0:00re time!

  • VAMOS GTA SAN ANDREAS :P Greetings from Greece! Aris mia zwi

  • Cant stand all this "long hair " is the only way to go ....much more mature and interesting to have short hair ....and anyway ....all the sheep metal heads cut their hair short for awhile . I always thought halford , bonnet , looked cooler like that .

Just what it has to do with ANYTHING is debatable ...in fact its probably homo erotic to like that .

  • is it me or does Bonnet look like Jim Carey?

  • never can get enough of this song, timeless, btw 1979 isnt it?

  • I dont get why people are dissing Graham's looks, he looks pretty normal to me.

  • awesome quality of a great song!

  • oooooh yea nailed this one toooooooo Mr Bonnet :-)

  • What a fantastic video, mate! Thanks so much for sharing this! AMAZING song and amazing voice and amazing guitars and amazing EVERYTHING.

  • one of the greatest rock voices ever...

  • Loved the original audio. A little different than the album version, but great nevertheless. Thanks for posting this great video. Cheers.

  • Still hair on glover :-)

  • dude looks like a cop!

  • this is a big legends

  • grande graham bonnet y blakomore

  • Love it! Interesting how this is a lip synch to the record, but there are two changes in the lead vocal from the record - how he sings "You can't know what you mean to me" in the second verse, and some ad libbing at the end. Otherwise this is identical to the record. Other versions of this same video on YouTube don't have those changes and match the record exactly. How did they do that? Anyway, this is a treasure and thanks for posting it.

  • Fucking awesome. That is all.

  • I adored his look and the fact that he resisted looking like everyone else was the second thing I loved and admired about Graham. The first is that fantastic voice! I'm just grateful we have the ability to "record". Great voices cannot be described and should not be compared. They must be listened to and appreciated on their own merit. Thankfully, any generation can do so.

  • average sound quality :p

  • Graham looks like Ace Ventura's love child, but damn what a voice

  • @TheSupertrucker78 I'm pretty sure Ace Ventura would have to be his love child. LOL

  • @TheSupertrucker78 Also reminds me of the guy on Reno 911 that wears the short shorts.

  • @TheSupertrucker78 Ace Ventura looks like Graham ; >

  • I never EVER get tired of watching this video!

  • Probably Ritchie Blackmore's best wig ever.

  • @Gerkinstock What?? does Ritchie suffer from male pattern baldness???

  • Guitar guy the best, i love his style :D

  • I guess @ the time fans weren't ready for the change, but I think this song's pretty cool in a power poppish sort of way. Cozy Powell was an awesome drummer, too....

  • RIP Cozy - that was one sexy dude. ♥

  • Cancionzozota canijooooos..!!!

  • Canciononon Cabrones......!!!!

  • YES, awesome quality!

  • Great quality! thanks for the upload :)

  • One of the best rock n roll songs ever. These guys had the potential to make more hits than they did.

  • pure 70s gold.

  • @fuckoffndie1 this is 1981 i think not the 70s

  • In Bonnet we trust!

  • i think he is the only guy with short hair

  • A VH-1 Classic standard.

  • I love this song but this version is a li'l bit accelerated comparing with the original.

  • funny !!!! there are actually seven morons who hate this song !!!! no doubt they like Kelly clarkson's "since you've been gone". What say guys ??

  • Blackmore and cozy match made in heaven

  • The lead singer looks like Mike from the Young Ones.

  • Brilliant song, great video. Fuck, this video from zim0n96 is so much better than the other version on YouTube. WTF?!

  • From my young age!!:(amazing,awesome!

  • Brilliant! A live vocal, even. I remember this video - you didn't often get heavy rock on TotP. Thanks lots.

  • @bobbya16 Yeah THE Voice THE drummer and THE guitar - etc what a band they were!

  • but who did it first...Rainbow or Head East....my guess is Head East...

  • two words: AMAZING BAND!!!

  • this is one of my favorite classic hard rock songs ever! song by Joe Lynn Turner!

  • @MetaLHeade666 It's Graham Bonnet! And the song is written by Russ Ballard! Graham Bonnet Rocks! the best ever!

  • @MetaLHeade666 Thought you should know - Its not JOE, This is Graham Bonnet, who sang on the original release and was in Rainbow before Joe.

  • What a great singer Bonnet is

  • 00:23 hugh jackman,lol

  • Amazing video, close ups of Cozy so alive, bought tears to my eyes. Where can I get a copy of this? Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Comment removed

  • i hope i had my teanage years in this decade because nowdays all music sucks because of biever lady gaga beyonce and all these JERKS !!!

  • Since you been gone..

  • timeless haha

  • I remember Ritchie saying this was the most boring song he ever had to play. Lol. Great song, regardless!

  • @TheIronMaideness He was aware that the world is fool of shit and that he had to compose more easy songs for ppl to really know rainbow..they had the most mainstream succes with songs like this.. Great song regardless as u say...

  • hey what a tune, when rock was king

  • Ritchie - the Greatest ! ! !

  • What an awesome singer!

  • @RandallParr

    Graham Bonnet

  • what a great song.....brings back some awesome memories

  • WTF 0:29 ???? O.o

  • I MISS YOU TEDDY!!! :'(

  • I miss you TEDDY!!!! :'(

  • He really looks like Jim Carrey as Hank in Me, Myself & Irene

  • He looks pretty angry at 1;14 :D xD

  • Though the video is the same, this version sounds differant to some of the others on YouTube. It sounds like they're playing live here, as opposed to miming to a back track, which is what the other versions sound like.

Case in point, the line "You can't know what you mean to me" is sung completely differant in this video.

  • Guess The Year? Uhmm....how about ´79?

  • YOU FORGOT THE SOCKS GRAHAM!

  • They just dont make em like this anymore

  • Great song. Sad loss

  • Every fantastic old rock song just has to have an amazing guitar solo. I love it.

  • What can possibly beat this? :-)

  • Guess the year?

    1979. I think.

Rainbow is a great band! My favorite era in Rainbow was when Ronnie James Dio sang in the band.

  • great video man, a true classic

  • Thanks for posting, this was the tour in '79 that I got to see Rainbow. Sadly the only time!

  • Bonnet look is typical Jim Carrey look... or is Carrey look typical Graham Bonnet look?

  • fom the days they still made good music

  • The year was 1979!

  • awesome!

  • luv it =]

  • wow-Bonnet was the man,with Blackmore of course-thanks!

  • Anybody guess the year? I'd imagine '78-9, but it could really be anywhere from like '77 to '84.

  • the yr was 1980

  • Bonnett did not look typical for a 80's rocker,But the voice more than made up for that.

  • Absolutely love this song!

  • I love that song!!!! :D

That solo at the end is kickass (as everything from Ritchie), but its to short!!

    Deep Purple and Rainbow 4ever!

  • This is amazing!!!!!!

  • I love this song and i inherited the original LP album from me dad!! :-)

  • they rock!

  • you rock \ii/

  • Awesome 70s rock tune!

  • pretty good.

  • one of the best covers ever

  • What's the answer to the "Guess the year" question? Was it 1975

  • @N2tZ '79 i think

  • Έτσι όπως τα λέει είναι.

  • He was living at Lambourn in Berkshire at the time and had returned to the studio shortly before his death to record with Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green. By that time, he had been the drummer on at least 66 albums with minor contributions on many other recordings. Many rock drummers have cited him as a major influence.

  • Powell died on April 5, 1998 following a car crash while driving his Saab 9000 at 104 mph in bad weather on the M4 motorway near Bristol. According to the BBC report, at the time of the crash, Powell's blood-alcohol reading was over the legal limit, he was not wearing a seatbelt, and he was talking to his girlfriend on his mobile phone.

  • Rainbow's 1979 Down to Earth LP (from which singles "Since You Been Gone" and "All Night Long" are taken) proved to be the band's most successful album thus far, although Powell was concerned over the overtly commercial sound.
