@whatthefunkbiotch WHY? because Richie Blackmore can do whatever the f*ck he want- because HE'S RICHIE BLACKMORE!!! And Graham Bonnet's vocals turn that mic into a useless toilet paper roll after he's finished hollowing it out with his sonic vocals. And don't even get me started on Cozy...
A Classic..I had this in my head the another day every since i heard it on the Radio...Had to watch the Video to get the beat out my head a timeless classic..
First time i heard this song, i must have been like 10 - loved it then, still love it! one of my favourites!! love Grahams voice - f***ing AMAZING!!! :D <3
NOW I WANT ALL PEOPLE TO HEAR THIS, This is the best version "EVER" kelly clarkson is no singer and does not write her own shit. So anybody out think other wise well...you can.....ok what ever to yourselfs this i true music. PERIOD..end quote.
Cant stand all this "long hair " is the only way to go ....much more mature and interesting to have short hair ....and anyway ....all the sheep metal heads cut their hair short for awhile . I always thought halford , bonnet , looked cooler like that .
Just what it has to do with ANYTHING is debatable ...in fact its probably homo erotic to like that .
Love it! Interesting how this is a lip synch to the record, but there are two changes in the lead vocal from the record - how he sings "You can't know what you mean to me" in the second verse, and some ad libbing at the end. Otherwise this is identical to the record. Other versions of this same video on YouTube don't have those changes and match the record exactly. How did they do that? Anyway, this is a treasure and thanks for posting it.
I adored his look and the fact that he resisted looking like everyone else was the second thing I loved and admired about Graham. The first is that fantastic voice! I'm just grateful we have the ability to "record". Great voices cannot be described and should not be compared. They must be listened to and appreciated on their own merit. Thankfully, any generation can do so.
I guess @ the time fans weren't ready for the change, but I think this song's pretty cool in a power poppish sort of way. Cozy Powell was an awesome drummer, too....

This song will be fearured on our first show beginning November 8.
@TheIronMaideness He was aware that the world is fool of shit and that he had to compose more easy songs for ppl to really know rainbow..they had the most mainstream succes with songs like this.. Great song regardless as u say...
Though the video is the same, this version sounds differant to some of the others on YouTube. It sounds like they're playing live here, as opposed to miming to a back track, which is what the other versions sound like.
Case in point, the line "You can't know what you mean to me" is sung completely differant in this video.
He was living at Lambourn in Berkshire at the time and had returned to the studio shortly before his death to record with Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green. By that time, he had been the drummer on at least 66 albums with minor contributions on many other recordings. Many rock drummers have cited him as a major influence.
Powell died on April 5, 1998 following a car crash while driving his Saab 9000 at 104 mph in bad weather on the M4 motorway near Bristol. According to the BBC report, at the time of the crash, Powell's blood-alcohol reading was over the legal limit, he was not wearing a seatbelt, and he was talking to his girlfriend on his mobile phone.
Rainbow's 1979 Down to Earth LP (from which singles "Since You Been Gone" and "All Night Long" are taken) proved to be the band's most successful album thus far, although Powell was concerned over the overtly commercial sound.
Just go "Down to Earth" !!
