R8 dont have RS badge and never will have this is R8 V10 5.2 FSI 525HP. Redline is at 8700rpm 0-100km/h 3,8sec 0-200KM/H 11,8 sec...1/4mile in about 11,5s@125+mph. Ring Time, there isnt official time, but we think about 7:35... Audi 4 EVEr!!!! DTM Racing Team!!

You are right regarding the name, but remember this video was taken in eastern 2007 - which is over one and a half year ago. As far as I know this is the first live video of the R8 with the V10 engine (at least on a track), and I needed to give it a "name".

that is def a v10 but twin turbo like the rs6 avant also this prototype also burned to the ground because it didn't have good cooling for the engine. the next r8 v10 tt will get the roof scoop from the tdi version for better cooling and will be fast as heck.

The Audi dealer in australia has got some info about the new rs8, it has a naturally aspirated v10 in it producing around 370kw (nm unknown) audi has also made the car lighter as well. (how the hell did they do that) the audi center said the acceleration of the car would be low 4s or high 3s.

That's 100% not a regular R8! I'm and instructor with the Audi Driving Experience and I drive R8's every day. This video was of one of the 6 RS8's(V10 TDI's) made so far untill it caught fire and burned to the ground. Arne is correct, intakes are much larger on this prototype. It will be available sometime, limited numbers and a high price tag are guarenteed.

Audi does not designate production model numbers based on engine cylinder count if it did they would rename RS4 models as RS8's. RS6's would also become RS8's and RS8's would become RS10's.

This is an R8 with a V-10. It will likely be an R8R if it ever gets produced. (not likely though it was probably just a test mule for a RS8 motor -more powerful V10 [Turbo?] for a car hotter than the production S8.

Just like staz1000 said, the name RS8 is most unlikely. The cat doesn't have an official name yet! But it's more likely to be named the R8 S, just a more powerfull version of the R8. Rumours are about that Audi is planning to build a Racing version of the A8, sumular to the RS4 & RS6, thus it's obvious that the Racing version of the A8 will be named RS8.
