  • i woke last night to the sound of thunder how far off i sat and wondered started hummin a song from 1962

  • Heard this on WICL, Oldies out of Williamsport, Md, Martinsburg, WV while waiting on the bus to pick up my grand daughter this morning. Couldn't remember who sang it or the exact title. Thanks to WICL for letting me know the info from thier play list. A real classic!

  • I'm convinced that anyone could be a professional singer 20 years ago. Love the song, but standards sure weren't high back then.

  • The most beautiful song ever written about casual sex lol.

    He has a golden voice.

  • this dude makes being laid to be so harmless and my parents make it feel like its the end of the world

  • Guess what you all out there ,this is music , its better than rap and heavy metal. this has a meaning of what we grew up with ,every line tells a story . I grew up with music since i was a kid. this is my life and what i learned.

  • Asking a rap singer to sing this song (Night Moves) is like asking a dog to speak fluent English. They need more than a bucket to carry that tune!!! LOL

  • This song brings out the old man in everyone. In my day they knew how to make music, ya dang wipper snappers!

  • This is music, not this rap-crap most kids listen to today!!

  • @Kferry1112

saying any form of generally acknowledged music is crap is very ignorant. Also rap, a genre with an unbelievable amount of sub-genres has something for everyone.

  • I am 37 - born in 1975 - and think this is an amazing track!

  • Just playin. 1976 my bad

  • Released in 1969

  • Please stop uprating "14" year olds who like "Classic Rock." They aren't an anomaly, they're damn close to 35% of their age group.

  • @godessiris1, your Daddy must have been a cool guy. Bless ya! :)

  • Totally timeless!!

  • Lady Gaga? - There's NO comparison. No...NONE!!!

  • 37 people need to work on their Night Moves

  • There is good music now, it's just that you're too closed minded to listen to anything other than the old stuff ..

  • @Guillaume15041996 Oh SHUT UP..Todays MUSIC SUCKS...Now GO AWAY!!!BWASASASASA

  • @Guillaume15041996 You have to do a little digging to find good music today. Surely you can't be referring to modern mainstream music as good.

  • But this is Night moves not 'Mainstreet'

  • I don't know guys Lady Gaga has come out with some pretty good shit recently.

  • excellent

  • i love this song she had points of her own sittin way up high way up firm and high

  • In the late 1960s I had a '57 Pink Cadillac where the back seat was used a lot like the '57 Chevy in this song. Country roads, out past the corn fields. I found out later that pink Caddy had a reputation at school; but it didn't seem to matter much to the young ladies. Those were the days of youthful innocence, energy and exploration. Wish I could have them back. Now all I have is sore knees when the weather gets too cold.

  • @FredSkelton I once had this WWII Veteran tell me while I was an enlisted MARINE to get all the action I could while I was young cause once I reached his age trying to screw was like pushing a wheel barrow with a rope!

I bet sore knees don't sound so bad know does it! LOL!!!!

  • HIMYM!

  • I'm 61 and this music sounds as good today as it did the first day I heard it!

  • This song came on the radio last night when I was delivering pizzas, I had heard it plenty of times before, but somehow, while your working, it has new meaning.

  • Reminds me of my first real relationship growing up in Michigan. :D

  • those 37 people are morons saying they dislike nightmoves! congrats you 37 people your officialy dumbasses

  • I sure hate to see all the bickering between the generations. Just be Happy, live in the now if that's what you like or live in the past if you like that better. Every generation has it's place in time, we should be respectful of one another. Live where, and when you can be Happy!~!

  • I was born in '65, and Bob Seger was one of my earlier influences. The Album "Night moves" is an incredible album. Very honest, heartfelt lyrics, and great music. Don't get me wrong, I loved bands like Van Halen, Scorps, Nugent, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and on and on all through the 80's, and into the 90's and I still do. But, I will never forget those early years, and I am glad to have been around then, and have Bob's music be a part of shaping who I would eventually become musically.

  • Born in '43. Mine was a '56 Bel Air. For four years we lived this song. She married big money. Divorced. I have searched for her. She's dead. I miss her.

  • @cmm1943 NO REGRETS

  • @cmm1943 Sorry Dude.

  • would give anything to be there on the again

  • WAIIIIITTTTTIIINNNG ON THE THUNDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • i miss the golden age of rock and roll

  • This is my STAR !!! love me some BOB SEGER !!! reminds me of my younger years !!

  • Omg, been searching for this song for at least a year, since I heard about 4 words from it @ HIMYM. Finally found it, wow. Great music.

  • 36 deaf homersexuals

  • I wanna be 16 again, and be in my '67 Mustang.

  • @chipawaue123 Im 16 in a 92' Plymith Laser in 2011. my generation sucks...

  • @vmanbeatles The 90's were a dark age

  • @chipawaue123

    Boss.

  • I'm an American from Western PA and, having lived abroad for some time, I listen to this song when I want to remember home the way it was years ago. It's not the theme, tune, or lyrics that take me back so much by themselves, but just the mental images of listening to this song over and over again in a place that doesn't really exist anymore. I'd forgotten how much I'd missed it, and luckily I have this song to remind me to keep those memories alive.

  • BOB SEGER AND THE SILVER BULLET BAND, STAPLES CENTER, LOS ANGELES 28DEC2011 ... THANKS BOB, FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES AND THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE! SEE YA'LL THERE!!

  • @coilsplitter AMEN! was there last night too. Amazing!

  • @coilsplitter best concert ive ever seen! I took my dad - pretty awesome to see all the generations there enjoying great music (kinda wish he woulda played Like A Rock though!)

  • my daddy raised me on this music <3

god bless his soul and its is music

  • what a damn good song !!

  • I saw that Mash episode the other day where hawk and BJ and Hoolihan try to keep the dying soldier alive until Christmas is past. Hoolihan goes through a dialogue about death, and how sudden and final it is.

This has been the first Christmas I've had without my mother at least being on the other end of the phone-

  • @harponercam My thoughts are with you, sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom on Dec. 31 last year and my husband died October 8 this year. First Christmas without either of them. I'm so devastated and having a very hard time picking myself back up. :(

  • She died last summer just short of 92. At almost 58 and facing my own mortality- and living my own decade long "freedom ride" with absolutely no other passengers- I've been thinking a lot about death the last couple of years.

My mother was getting on and having problems- I had a long time to be ready. Still Margaret's dialogue didn't quite get it right.

It seems to me now that death is the most honest thing out there in the world.

  • Whether it comes suddenly or after a long descent- it is always final- very final. As frightening as it is otherwise- and I guess I fear the pain more than the death- it is at the point of death OVER.

Whatever issues that remain or are generated by it- those are only for those left alive. The deceased takes nothing along with them, only the deeds they did in this life. And then their slate is wiped clean again for whatever life they may re-emerge.

  • And while every life is full of expectations and stress and tension and winning and defeat, full of love or not and full of nightmare, they take not the baggage that seemed so important in the years and days or even hours before their end came. It is finished. And THAT is the shocking part I think that no one ever really gets used to.

The one thing I hadn't anticipated I guess Bob Seger first put the notion of into my own head with the line in "Night Moves":

  • : "when you just don't seem to have as much to lose" That thought bothered me when I was 20- and death was the most horrible thing then- wherther it was my own or the people I loved. But now nearing 60, I truly "don't have as much to lose" and when I began to realize my mother would be gone, suddenly his words weren't as terrifying. At that point the thought helped to cushion the blows of others dying and facing my own end.

  • @harponercam - touching words harpo, you made me cry thinking about my own Mom, a song from 1962, strange how the night moves...I remember, I remember...beautiful song, a masterpiece...

  • Like Tom Hanks in "Philadelphia" I guess I'm ready. This world raging and warring against me still may succeed in taking Maybe 20 years off my life- yet it matters just a little bit less with every passing day and every Christmas and every loss.

I just don't have as much to lose.

  • lmao there's people trying to justify listening to bob seeger, how I met your mother brought you here, ha, how I met your mother was only the messenger, the righteous grooves brought you here

  • Wait for it teds Mom........ How I Met Your Mother

  • same... how i met your mother... :D

  • Is it wrong for a 15 year old to say "fuck why wasn't born back then"

  • @parkourisfun90 i have always thought that and i am 40

  • Only here because of How I Met Your Mother

  • Fab Stuff !!! :)

  • 3.04 always moves me

  • ben savage, aka corey matthews brought me here!

  • @xaprilwindsx me too! hahaha

  • Who hasn't practiced night moves and felt the lightning? But the heart and appeal of this song is the feel of the thunder after the wait. And for that, it takes years: remembering, and sometimes, regret. Can't get enough of this song.

  • 35 people did not awake last night to the sound of thunder...

  • excelent wee track. a lot of memories ;). thanks..

  • felt the lightning, waiting for the thunder.......

  • thumbs up if you think this music is timeless and will outlast the modern shit

  • @highflyingballer There is still hope! It's good to see comments like this. Like Segar says in another song, Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that Old Time Rock N Roll.

    Cheers!

  • @highflyingballer Im 15, thats what makes us different from the new world today, we, not them are the future, the others end up living in crap houses asking for money from the democrats even though they don't deserve it.

  • @highflyingballer Im 14 too, but like this music is for old men.

  • @highflyingballer If you don't already, you should listen to Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel as well... You WON'T be disapointed

  • @captainmatt94 Springsteen is GOD hahaha one of my heroes for sure. Seger is great. This song is one of the best summer jams/driving songs. Elton and Billy kick ass too.

  • @highflyingballer Don't be so ignorant, all music is relative with meaning.

  • @highflyingballer You are never too young or too old to appreciate good music. I am glad you like it.

  • @highflyingballer good shit. glad there are brains in youthful society
