I have the 1952 copy of this book - it began with the "factual account of 76 trillion years" instead of 60. Did you know that the reason you get sunburns today is because you were once a clam that was washed up and burned and dried out by the sun?
If i wasnt just back form a night out with my brother theres more that i could add to this comment. However im leaving the complexities and just saying that your suspitions on where hubbard got his "research" was right. /watch?v=2m5EJ1myhMc
Theres more videos at xenutv(dot)com
These court testimonies are gold and should be watched, edited and got out to the public.
Youre welcome :). I wont even go in to what i was going to explain last night. It doesnt seem that important now. Anyway im glad you like the link. I had that video favorited in an old account of mine that was suspended. Took a wee bit of searching the memory and a couple attempts in the youtube search engine to find that but im glad you liked it :)
There is a film of an Old Stain Hiller saying that book was written based on Hubbard giving his 10 year old son "Nibs" amphetamine and rambling, HubTard wrote down everything the drugged child said and gave him more "speed" as the rantings got more insane. It's on here somewhere, I forget what its called but its an old b&w film.
i just watched two short clips of that film here on youtube...wow, powerful stuff. i'll have to see if i can find more of that film somewhere. thanks for the suggestion.
a good quote imitchey read in this video from their text is..."religious sweetness until he was fit to be a part of their group..." So, at first, in the sweetness or "love bombing" the person is happy to have found a group that they believe they fit into, and new friends. -----Then, the tables turn around, and the same person feels an intense sense of peer pressure to continue to fit into this new circle of (fake) "friends"...and so that person's sense of loyalty is manipulated.
and that it is presented in this way as an open philosophy which is compatible with whatever religion that individual may have been brought up in. a lot of them act really friendly...some call that "love bombing"... and the indoctrination is happening to the person right from day one, even though the innocent person is not aware of how deeply destructive these people are...(cos) ... (continued)
I think to understand how it is that perfectly good, intelligent people get sucked into this cult and indoctrinated with the beliefs of LRH is to understand how it begins....it begins in a seemingly innocent way. They tell the person how special they are, make them feel loved and important and spiritual, and that they ($cientologists) really want to be their friends so that they can all help each other grow and to help mankind for some kind of greater good.... (continued)
Why is it that whenever I read books, see videos, or hear people speak about Scientology its made out to be this intricately designed evil masterwork of mind-control. But then when you actually read stuff by L Ron Hubbard, see videos of him, or hear audio of him speaking he just comes across like a scatterbrained D-rate car salesman? How do people fall into a group that seems to be lead by the "teachings" of such a joke of a man?
Good question, I would ask the same question for several other cult leaders as well. Keep in mind the initial teachings of Scientology hide their real beliefs until you have been in it quite a while. In the initial stages it appears it all appears to be quite reasonable.
Thanks so much for your Scientology book discussions and readings iamitchey!

It sounds like your copy of this book is more entertaining than the version I have.
I didn't realize Mr Hubbard explained a sunburn in this manner. Strange stuff.

I first remember hearing about love bombing in a movie about cults called Ticket To Heaven. If you get a chance check it out some time.
