This is so awesome. I felt like I was right there with you guys. I wish that I could have the opportunity to beach comb & find these awesome treasures....
My husband is in the Coast Guard and has brought some of these back to me from his travels. I love them and have one hanging with some other sea glass and wire as a light catcher in my window. They are beautiful!
Wow, I had never heard of glass floats, it seems amazing to me that there would still be so many on one beach! Great video, I love all the wildlife shown here too! Would love to see them up close! Thanks for sharing!
Great video, I spend hours searching Japan for glass floats and have never seen so may at one time as in your video. What a great video! thanks for posting it for all to enjoy!!
Thanks for the explanation. I'm in Wyoming, grew up on the Oklahoma prairie among the prairie dogs. We find indian arrowheads and beads, fossils, old homesteader items; but don't know much about ocean things. Thanks again!
The glass floats are used to support fishing Nets, mostly used in the asian countries. Most New floats are sytrafoam and plastic, these floats were probably out in the ocean for years. They wash up on the beach resulting from a recent Storm. It's not uncommon to find japanese bottles and other stuff with japanese writing on it with the floats. I used to live on the Oregon coast and find them sometimes on the beach after a storm, glass floats are valuable.
Most hand blown glass floats are from Japan. They are desired by collectors, the smaller ones fetch $10 a piece and more for large ones. Most of the floats now are syrafoam and plastic. I used to beachcomb on the coast of Oregon for glass floats, but they only show up in a West Wind, there is a current that goes from the West coast to Japan and it carries all the debris in it including floats of all kinds. Very rarely do you see this many floats I was suprised.

I'm so jealous! Alaska seems to be the best place to find the most glass floats.
