Ahh... gotcha. No problem. I appreciate the notes. Yeah, I'm talking to Grape3D right now. Hopefully I can get my copy up an running soon, as I am eager to try it out. Thanks!
I am willing to to put together a similar rig as you have done in your garage to scan the object, but first I just need working software. I do apologize for the question, and I sincerely appreciate any suggestions or help that you might be able to give me.
Well, I was wondering if you might be able to explain your software setup. I checked out Wikkiid, but I don't see an .exe of sorts. I also checked out Grape3D, but am having some issues with getting it to work correctly. Would it be possible for you to send me a .zip of your working files for the laser scanner? From your video it says that you modified the scan_extract.cxx, and as I don't have a background in programming, I'm not certain as to how it was all implemented, compiled, etc.
@jmsiefer The scan_extract.cxx file needs to be turned into an executable using a C++ compiler. I compiled and ran the program under the Linux operating system. The version of the program available on the "A Simple 3D Scanner" web page should be able to produce similar results to my version. If you are not comfortable with programming and Linux it might be better to wait until Grape3D matures into a more usable program under Windows.
DUDE! This is so awesome!!!! I just ordered a milling machine myself, and would love to try this out. Do you mind talking to me more about the laser scanning process? I've tried David, and haven't had that great of luck with it.
