@ZeroOZeroO well yes they are much like the tapes you see on little beginner string players' fingerboard. They are constructed differently than just regular old guitar frets. These are made by Mark so he probably does something that makes it easier to vibrato and slide and so that it doesn't sound funny like it would on a guitar.

you can't slide, and the frets are pointless. the only reason you need frets on something like a guitar is so you can do chords- its near impossible to get your fingers in tune enough and put them on all the different strings, but a violin is a melodic instrument, so you can be in tune and not have to use frets, and it gives you the ability to slide and fun stuff like that.
