daammn, he was extremely athletic playaa, i remember this from back in tha days, when he used to play in Dallas, dude was sick with great shootin ability. I still believe he will come back to NBA in this season or next, doesnt matter hes 38 years old, but i believe he still can do magic in the court.
Finley is my favorite all time player...a true great..he deserves mad good stats as an all-star player for old school teams on vid games straight up. he was pure..Blake Griffin is the next Finley and thatsa really big comliment and some big shoes to fill.
i hope after these past 8 months you already know micheal finley is a shooting guard like kobe, mcgrady, ray allen, dwane wade..... lol.... and i hope you realized blake griffing is a power forward like ken garnett, amare stoudemire, kenyon martin, chris webber, karl malone,......... blake griffin is more like amare stoudemire, with a much more heavy presence inside the basket but is still offensive minded like amare stoudemire...
Yeah I remember Finley. He was great. His offense was great, great ball handler, good shooter, 6'7" with long arms. Unfortunately for the NBA, Finley was one of the last great shooting guards in the NBA. You had Vince Carter, TMac, Finley, Iverson. NBA doesn't have any SGs that were Finley's level today, though Vince Carter, and Kobe are still playing, but they too are getting old. Only a few years away from being old man winter by sports standards. Who will replace these great SGs once gone?
michael finley is now a celtic.... wtf man. why would they add ANOTHER aging player to the roster..... hope it works out though since im from beantown.
MICHAEL FINLEY IS THE BEST SHOOTIN' GUARD/SMALL FORWARD WE EVER HAD MAN!! I'm a DALLAS MAVERICKS FAN FOR LIFE but we did a stupid thing when we didn't resign him (smh). Well at least the heart & soul of my MAVERICKS got a ring with our next door neighbor. If we would've signed him & STEVE NASH we would've had like 4 CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS RIGHT NOW! FINLAND is 1 of the reasons why my MAVERICKS started winnin' 50+ games every year from 2000-PRESENT. Hope we he FINLAND & STEVE NASH back, we need them.
I'm a Spurs fan and I always loved Finley even though he would always torch the Spurs. I loved his game and his fade aways and of course his dunks. I wish he stopped being agressive but age takes it's toll. And I was hoping the mavs were going to retire his number but I guess it's too late.
@nest790 Taking advantage of the one time Contract Amnesty from the NBA lockout Fin was waived after numbers dropping significantly and Dirk n Nash became the primary Offensive options. He still got paid for 3 years by the Mavs. Finley was signed to a 5 year contract two years before Nash left. Nash was not the reason Fin was let go. His declining numbers specially his FG % were the culprit. Lastly Mavs had him during the late 90s n they stank. Dirk n Nash's arrival saved the Mavs in the 2000s.
reason why he might get the green light more than last year, like i said i felt like he was itching to pull the trigger when they were missing scoring last year but poppovich forgot to tell him to pull it. I think he's gonna see the green light this year because he does not neccasarily have to play the tough defender instead of scoring i know you do both and he does still but u know what i mean, but playing alongside jefferson, we could see a revamped Finley.
Absolutely awesome video. He's my favorite player. It's to bad he had to adapt to another role when he went to the spurs. But he still has tons of game and when he's called upon he shows it. I actually like that he's slowd down with the spurs because he's slowd down due to choice, because with so many other scorers he's become a good defender and has not had to be to hard on his body. He has great field goal % this pre season and i hope alongside Jefferson coach will allow him more offense.
If you watch the end of this video he has a lot of big dunks and what not with the spurs, the thing is, the spurs already had there top 3 options and finley was there to play alongside bowen and be a score while bowen was on the floor, when he played with ginobly and so on, he became the tough physical defender, so he had the job of defending the toughfest forward or guard on the opposition to help ginobli. check his stats out this pre season, looking good.
I do know what your saying but... 4 example last year when the spurs were missing scoring i noticed finley was itching the trigger finger but it's almost like poppovich forgot to tell him to pull it. I watch them a lot and i see so many flashes of things he wants to do but it is not what coach wants him to do. He's been a great role player and i think we will see a more productive Michael finley this year than last. Let's think positive and i hope to see him get the green light this year.
this might be the new american player of olympiacos in Greece
olympiacos made a 21million bucks constract offer to anthony parker(the only arican player who understands european basketball) but toronto said f.......NO so olympiacos will try to sing a veteran finley or francis
I'm a mavs fan for life, and finely has an will always be my favorite player no matter what team he went on. I've never boo'd him. It was business he wanted to stay. Im just glad he gotta ring. Much Love Mike.
Finley was let go by the Mavs due to Cuban's reluctance to pay luxury tax. Cuban's a passionate fan but sometimes he makes incredibly stupid moves (i.e. losing Nash and Finley and trading Marquis Daniels for a scrub)
He got the ring, baby! HE GOT THE RING "AND" THE GOLD! YOU DESERVE IT FINLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! yeah, MAVS trashed him, after he helped make them a respectable team, they booed him and Terry's dirty move. SA LOVES YOU FIN! SA CHEERS SPEEDY CLAXTON WHEN HE SHOWS UP ON OUR OPPONENT'S TEAM/S, CAUSE HE WAS ONE OF US. DALLAS, NOT AS CLASSY. SA. CLASS.
Nice video, Michael Finley in his prime was a superstud. He still comes up big every now and then. He went 8 of 9 from 3pt range tonight in the closeout gm against Denver.
Pure HD video on his Spurs highlights...... ahahahahah
