Wrong! flash refined mixing but Grand Wizard Theodore invented cutting or scratching. Now Flash is the best you could call him the Bill Gates of cutting and Theodore Steve Jobs.
funny that you guys didnt even mention graffiti one of the elements of hip hop.. TAKI 183 and TRACY 168! how can you guys forget them too :) it wasnt only the music and dancing you know. you cant forget graffiti :P
@STBNY What I know was that a Jamaican Barber opened a Barbershop in New York around the 1930's because in Jamaica it is common in the Jamaican garrisons to paint murals and express thought because of their seperation from the middle high class. Plus the fact no one listened to them. So possibly Herc painted the walls around the parties to resemble the parties they had in the garrisons in Jamaica.
I am proud to say PUERTORICANS were part of this amazing afro culture in the late 70s and early 80s. Some talents: NYC Breakers, Rock Steady Crew, DJ Charlie Chase, Prince Markie Dee (fat boys), The Latin Rascals (kiss fm), Kid Capri, many actors from the movie:Beat Street and Wild Style and the list goes on.... Press like if You agree...
@rdecaserio how can u forget to mention Junebug..prob in top 5 dj`s back in the day..me im italian..we had vito bruno running roxy, sal abbatiello who ran fever, junebugs spot, and i forget guy who owned latin quarter in 84-87. buts hes dead now anyway. So shout out to the Italians for giving the venues for these pioneers to do there thing
@funkberto Thats because the it is not done by the Panamians and half Puerto Rican/Jamaican mixed. It is done by those who are immigrated from Spain to Puerto Rico.
@funkberto Back in the days the Puert Ricans that did Reggaeton were of darker complexions. They were off springs of a Jamaican Puerto Rican relationship.
kool herc is from jamaica and grandmaster flash is from barbados. hip hop was origantie from the cabbriean roots. and i too is part jamaican and part bajan

Bob Dylan invented rap music long before these guys. He was rapping to the sound of music in the early 60's. Only he was rapping about war and civil rights issues. Not getting with the bitches and popping his enemies.
Nice vid. I know of an unkown musician that goes pretty hard. Search "Vthov Obama Inauguratiion Song" and you'll see what I mean. Fiyah, pure fiyah. I can't believe people are sleeping on this guy.
Here is a fact.. Hip hop Pioneers are both born on the islands of Jamaica an Barbados.. The rolling of blunts was taken from Jamaican rastas smoking of the fronto leaf (raw tabacco) and rappin (M.C.) came from Jamaican disk jockeys (D.J.) toasting a "riddim". So hip hop true roots came from Jamaica and the African American culture was added to it.
Idk if rapping came from Jamaica. I mean you could be right But didn't they have people Battling with words A Long time ago? Sorry i need to catch up on my social studies. lol

Flash invented the art of scratching and Theodore invented the art of cutting. No disrespect but let's keep the history correct.

@STBNY You can see examples on the "Beenie Man - World Dance" video of murals. In Jamaica they call it Yard Art.

@funkberto Immigrants from Spain whitened up Puerto Rico so I guess that might be the issue.
