  • It's recordings like this gem right here left behind by one of the greatest to ever write a song that makes my head just spin in a great way. I love the raw and gritty nature of it. Rustic and loose. The way John loved his songs to be. Right down to the ambient sounds made after the last note played. Perfect!

  • I love this version. Nice editing, too.

  • i know people are entitled to their opinions but, how can anyone dislike this?!

  • @chiaskid Well, even Beiber fans stumble upon greatness and don't even know it. That is what makes them Beiber fans, I guess.

  • The world needs another Lennon. Look at all the crap going on RIGHT NOW because no voice has the balls anymore to preach REAL PEACE. Now its all about materials and money and making people laugh through stupidity. No message, no beauty, no truth. Just a bunch of rich clowns eager to make a buck while the world burns down. Disgusting, if God gave you talent, use it for truth love and peace... anything else is a waste if you think about it. Because the mindless cycle is a short lived one.

  • absolutely unbelievable.

  • wow.

  • Please check out my cover version

  • The perfect soundtrack for a cold, gray winter day...( Or life for that matter) Enjoy!

  • to the one who might know me better than anybody else. to the girl who probably thinks more of me than i or anyone else thinks of myself. to that person who has never left your side no matter what has happened or what was said. im sure you will always mean a lot to me. thank you for always being there julie - love, John

  • still remember the day this happen i was watching monday night football pittsburgh agaist dallas comboys was a very sad day in music the man was great

  • Great find..I love this

  • @justaninjalol Yeah, that flat-picking guitar style he plays here definitely conjures up images of Dylan. My thoughts, exactly. ... Good call.

  • I this song is great Love Lennon and the music his done. After Lennon die the music changes

  • I really miss this man.

  • Does anybody know what key is he playing and singing this song? I want to grab my guitar and go with him. Thanks!!

  • @Glozgly it's in D

  • @Glozgly

Roystothecoolkid is correct its in the key of "D' .....BUT its played with a Capo on 2cnd fret. Playing the chords "C" and "F".

This obviously moves it up a tone C > D

  • Great version of one of my favortie songs ever!!

  • 31 years today. The most missed human being ever.

Hope hes jamming with Hendrix as we speak.

  • Funny People brought me here

  • you got the lyrics wrong this isnt the studio version. he makes the wheels go round and round.

  • it's got a Dylan vibe to it...i like it this version very much.

  • This sounds like it could have been on the White Album. Awesome and much truer to John's character.

  • He died before I was born, I grew up listening to Noel Gallagher.....John, Paul, George and Ringo, you are the greatest, music starts and ends with The Beatles for me.

  • this version is much better then the original.

  • John

    For ever! <3

Una de los seres mas hermosos que ha pasado por este planeta...un alma tan bella debe seguir brillando en algun lugar...

Y su legado sigue latiendo en los corazones de todos los que seguimos soñando con un mundo mas justo...

John Lennon Tribute Artist Michael J Lennon

  • "I tell them there's no problems, only solutions." Greatest line ever

  • John loved Yoko.

  • God fucking Yoko even has to heard in the background..John couldn't shit without her involvment...this is John in The Bahama's after a near fatal sailing to there he wrote this song then sat down with a simple boom box to record it to send to the Label....this is simply a demo...a PRICELESS recording!

  • @TheArizonaMark Yoko loved John ,too!Yoko is still keeping the memories of the legend alive by building schools all over the world for needy children while Paul McCartney busies himself paying divorce settlement fees to women who prolly never really loved him and have no plans of building a humble shack nor a tree house

in remembrance if ever Paul gets shot by a looney or got hit by a cab and die

    ^_^ YAY!to Japanese women's faithful love!

  • @JesusIsRussian Yoko DESTROYED The Beatles...John...John relationship to his Son and John's career...FUCK Yoko.....

  • @TheArizonaMark you're a moron!how can one skinny Japanese girl destroy a team that were friends since childhood?the foundation was getting weak, the artists wants more freedom of expression and of course, royalties ^_^i know 'cause i'm a Royal ^_^

  • @JesusIsRussian If you're not aware of the wedge Yoko drove between the boys...well, we're done....I LIVED through it...at least crack a book or two and then remove your foot out of your mouth and get back to me

  • @TheArizonaMark what a jerk you are for talking all that crap like you knew John and Yoko!

  • @TheArizonaMark talking ALL that crap!!???...If you actually did a thing called READING you'd know what I posted was the truth behind this recording...You...being a BITCH, couldn't say .."that's cool...interesting"...no, you had to be a major asshole......grow the fuck up, Punk

  • liquor and tobacco can't save you from shit. All you need is love.

  • John is never better when it's just him and his guitar.

  • Better than Dylan

  • @lostmyshoes80 fuck off, yea right Dylan blows him to shit...although lennon is genius lol

  • @DTAJerkMasterFlex you cant compare them there both amazing

  • ((*j*))

  • His voice is so pure!

  • where do i download this

  • @PETESAJO

Use Zamzar, it's a website that will convert the video into an MP3 then email it to you... =P

  • I remember being really in a depressed state, and I would sit on the bus home from school and cry listening to this song because it made me so happy. :)

Thank you, John Lennon. You not only changed THE world, but you changed MINE.

  • @StardustBeatle1039 ..." You not only changed THE world, but you changed MINE"....you made me shed a tear.

  • @StardustBeatle1039 awee:) Im almost 15 this song makes me happy everyone can relate to this song. Its so Great! I must admit this is one of my coming of age song! Im gonna be 15 on the 26th of december . Im just relaizing im getting older and my life has passed me by rather quickly soon enough Ill be 40 just like John. Yikes!

  • @kozmicblues14 What a lovely comment to make. I was 14 and massively into Lennon and the Beatles too, when he died it shocked me to my core. Cried for ages afterwards. Still do when I hear his stuff and it's like, 31 years later! I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy 15th birthday :-)

  • @phil1002010 Thanks:) A Part of me wishes I could have grew up when the beatles and John Lennon were popular. But at the same time i woudlnt wanna be around when he died ? too sad.. It makes me sick to my stomach when im walking down the halls at school and hear ghetto rap blaring out of the phone of the person whos walking past me. I wish I could grab their phone and throw it up agaisnts the wall. But yet again I have johns music on my phone so i could just play it louder lol

  • @StardustBeatle1039 so similar thing i am going through, and the weird thing is i ride the school bus too :/

  • People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing,

Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin,

When I say that I'm o.k. they look at me kind of strange,

Surely your not happy now you no longer play the game,

  • @stutubeization did you write those lyrics all on your own?!?!?! or did someone else say them just moments before you typed them?

  • Winking back at cha John.

  • Wow. This is on my favorites and I just revisited....

  • How can anyone dislike anything The Beatles did? My favorite childhood memories are listening to Beatle records with my mama.

  • i know its pretty much said on every video but REALLY, the seven people who disliked this video and how ever many more do are obviously not capable of noticing a fantastic and beautiful song when they hear it. I pity you

  • I fell in love with this song after watching "funny people". John Lennon forever

  • "No longer play the game, doing fine watching shadows on the wall, no longer riding on (that) merry go round, had to let it go. (Still), people say I'm crazy, lost in confusion, I tell them there's no problems, only solutions. Well, they shake they heads and look at me as if I've lost me mind, I tell them there's no hurry, I'm just sittin' here doin' time. Just sitting here watching those wheels, I really love to watch them go round and round. (No more) merry go round, let it go.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • This version to me could have been written in the early 60's. This is my favourite song of John's yet ironically the optimism encaptuated in it ultimately killed him.

I guess art is always open to misenterpretation.

  • This sounds absolutely wonderful ...

great to hear this song in John's acoustic version

  • I'm in love with his voice <3

I love you John, "now and forever".

  • Oh man can you guess who Red House Painters/Mark Kozeleck structured his sound around???? Not that its a bad thing at all just noticing. LOVE both of them.:)

  • this song is really good i do like i would've seen him in video playing with the piano which is the real version john lennon for ever

  • This perfect song.

  • As my father said and as i also say, if i had Mark David Chapman infront of me, he would be pretty fucked, hope you all think alike ... RIP John Lennon ... Peace out!

  • This song makes me sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep! O_o

  • John your always remembered every day, Legends never die!

  • 5 ppl just cant let it go

  • UncleJohn,

Somewhere on our planet theres @ least 100 people mourning you. I'm one of em,,,Rest.

  • John should have one a Nobel peace prize. Not war loving Obama.

  • @SunnyLovetts Although I do agree he should have won a Nobel peace prize at least spell won right -.-

  • @Omally102 sorry for the typo friend. just love

  • @SunnyLovetts to many elitest one here!!

  • @SunnyLovetts

You are "won" of the stupidest people I have ever seen post a message.

  • @SunnyLovetts Yeah your totally right. I mean killing Bin Laden, that was a real dick move.

  • @SunnyLovetts the Nobel prize is bullshit...they gave it to Kissinger. Enough said?

  • well, avin, this is definitely a song worth being played at a funeral -- especially this version, it is a recording so pure and beautiful, so honest and long gone, just like john lennon

  • this was my brothers song when he died :(

  • Though I had heard it all. Incredible!

  • So damn beautiful.

  • how can people dislike this song. it doesnt get any better than this.

  • the beatles invented the world , jajaja no

  • This song really describes a mindset I'd like to have one day. I certainly don't now, and doubt if I ever will. Worth aspiring to, though. Terrific song.

  • this is my lennon the way i admire him, - pure and touching

  • thanx

  • man when yur good yur good. changed the melody but it's better. like dylan or maybe more neil young-ish. very catchy childlike slowed 2 a jack douglas tempo du jour. the bones of the song. like a cut off of rubber soul! wow 30 yrs later.

  • @kristoscan well said ... :)

  • ((*J*))

  • @Msemospongebob

    Hahahaha, tut tut

  • Sounds a lot like Jim Croce's guitar playing. It's not, I'm just saying that it sounds like it.

  • "No longer riding on the merry-go-round... I just had to let it go." And most people never understood the way I feel about this world. And he was able to capture into a song. John never liked to think his lyrics meant as much as they did, but he was modest in some ways.

  • Led Zeppelin may be the god of rock n' roll

Eric Clapton may be the god of guitar

The Rolling Stones may be the bad boys of rock

But John Lennon is the walrus, and nothing is better than being the walrus

  • @Sunburn190 "I could be the walrus, but I'd still have to bum rides off people."

  • @Sunburn190 "Well here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul" - John Lennon from "Glass Onion"

  • @adamstakeonlife Strawberry Field, the influence of Strawberry Fields Forever and where lennon played when he was a kid. But I know it is definiately him now

  • @adamstakeonlife Strawberry Field, the influence of Strawberry Fields Forever and where lennon played when he was a kid. But I know it is definiately him now

  • Is that definately John at 1:10? Just I went there and sat like that thinking I've sat where Lennon has sat

  • my fave version. end of story. amazing

  • We believe in John Lennon. We are Lennonist's.

  • love this version better than double fantasy.

  • @titcdrum yeah cause in this he's actually watching the wheels go by, not giving a shit... the album version is kinda poppy and commercial , defeats the spirit of the song ..... this is great,

  • @MetrazolElectricity totally man.. also i'm not the biggest fan of 80s drums... i love the smiths and the cure and a bunch of other 80s bands but the heavy reverb on the drums.. i dont know haha i'm just going off on personal opinions.

  • I'm an anti-ist-ist.

  • I like The Beatles, but people give them 'more credit' than what they deserve...Paul Mccartney said in an interview one time (and I'm paraphrasing slightly) "someone once told me 'but the Beatles weren't about the money' --that's not true, John and I used to always say 'time to write another swimming pool". They were a band, great band, one of the best; maybe THE best. But people take it too far--- get a clue, it's just music...

  • @seth77783 u make a good point but aren't all the bands about money and some what about the music

  • this is so wonderful .. such a beautiful version of a great song..

  • probably the most beautiful acoustic song i have ever heard.

  • So much better than the original. Unplugged is always better. Too Bad Lennon never got to play unplugged. "Imagine" John Lennon, say 1990, doing "Unplugged" on MTV. Lennon would be what, 50 years old. Remember Claptons Unplugged session? Amazing. "Got me on my knees Layla". Nirvana had great session aswell. Is there ne other good Lennon songs that sound better on acoustic?

  • Lennon was a giftted guy who stills makes lots of people happy. He and the Beatles makes us think that it's not all to bad in this mad world!

  • sounds nice!

  • anyone-- take a guess - at how Lennon came up with this song. in other words the origin.

  • @malamabay im not sure how?

  • @malamabay The wheels going round and round are in reference to the game of life. Which take a man from the top, to the bottom, and back to the top again. He saying he no longer plays this game, this is usually a result of finding the God centered life. One no longer has to play the game on the outside of the wheel but rather can live in serenity whether life is up or down. God Bless you all.

  • @Sgtpepperlulz i agree :)

  • I can hear John's good friend Dylan all over this version. I like it better than the studio one by far.

  • @Sgtpepperlulz I technically hate Pop

because pop, reminds me of Lady Gaga-or Kate Perry ...

  • Great song and he does a wicked turn on that guitar.

  • what a treat - what a treat!!! thankss

  • peace !.. :)

  • best song by lennon

  • i have the same birthday as john lennon. i get to tell two people happy birthday, cry over the other. 10/9/96.

    ‎((ºJº)) forever

  • @chimmychagna people might be disliking the video. I clicked on "like" myself, but I could totally understand someone disliking the video here.

  • I just discovered this version of one of my favorite songs ever. John, your songs and your philosophy will never die in my heart! I'm just sad you're no longer with us!

  • this is John on a little vacation on a sailboat HE actually sailed to the Bahamas on...got caught in some ROUGH weather and it really enlighten him about life in general and him turning 40 so out came the Double Fantasy album....he sang this into a boom box and sent it to his engineer/producer in New York

  • 4 people has not yet watch the wheel rollin.

  • Well... Sound like Mister Zimmermann, don't ?

  • this is the first time i'm hearing this version. i'm bawling my eyes out.

  • hes got it

  • i have been reading most of the comments here, and i couldn't agree more with the basic idea of what people are saying here.i don't believe the anger of some of the folks here is directed to lady gaga or justin beiber but the main idea is that today's music just can not ! be compere to the music that john did ,i mean listen to this song , the guy is singing about actual things that are happening to him and combining beautiful metaphors is such a simple but yat sophisticated way a true artist.

  • @mpeleg90 You're so true!
