Just dug up a cherry tree from my parents backyard and potted it, i cut it down to about 13". In just one week it has started to sprout new branches like crazy. I can't wait for how it will turn out. It has a beautiful trunk, with a large gash in the middle.
Thanks for your videos man, they have been a huge help in my novice world of bonsai.
Hey Jerry, love your videos! learned allot by watching them. Im going to buy my first tree and try to make a bonsai out of it for the very first time! I have one question, where do you get the sphagnum moss? And why dont you use normal earth? I'm from Belgium, and i dont know if i can get some of that sphagnum moss, do you have a sugestion on wich underground i should use if i can't get some of that moss? Thanks :)
I swear every video you make, makes me want whatever tree you are working on. I want to get my hands on one of those Brazilian rain trees i saw fin your nursery video. They were all so beautiful... I got goose bumps just watching
I've been watching your videos for a while now and am a big fan. I am wondering if you tend to repot your plants in spring, as this is what is usually done following the traditional method, or since you live in florida, the time of year is not as important. also, how long do you wait after repotting to start fertilizing the plant? I have a few of my own trees in sphagnum moss and they are doing quite well! thanks in advance for your advice!
Hi Kwaj, I repot when they need it. It's so easy to check on the status that a quick look tells me if it needs repotting. I fertilize all year, 1/2 strength, about monthly in winter, and weekely in summer (which runs from March to November). Thanks for the klind words. Jerry
