  • hahahaha man i remember this song well ..plus a guy named Pat Dywer..mmmm i was old enough so he found out ..he was 26 i was 16 ooorrr

  • @suzie143able Pat the what ! ha

  • I think Sharon O'Neill wrote this please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @bleustreak1 Paul Hewson (i think)... more sure it was Paul, than Shazza

  • @nzoz1978 Thanks for that I wasn't sure.

  • All those years I thought this song was saying "Are you holding on"

  • The Best!

  • Probably my favourite Dragon song! Why yes I'm very well thank you :)

  • 1:36 looks like hes doing part of the haka. haha must be a kiwi

  • Cheers bro good music you uploaded

  • if only R Kelly did a cover of this song

  • Great song and great clip. Nice look at 1970s Melbourne.

  • 0:02... The Cathedral's been given a permanent "thumbs down"

  • tracks like this and flame tress cold chisel gives me goosbumps...i was born 1974 but i love these kind of songs and look at the old films makes me moved and sad ..i guess i miss and love the 70's and 80's. you hear these songs on the radio as a kid then grow up loving them (sigh)

  • NAMBLAS theme song

  • Great tune. Thanks for posting. So many memories of this era. Love the old cars!

  • @nzoz1978: Just wanted to say a huge "Thank YOU" for uploading all the classic OZ and NZ music, it really is a treat to wander through and enjoy again. Appreciate the effort you have made, great stuff! :-)

  • @MusicBreathesLife no worries

  • That's very funny...about are you old enough & Roman Polanski. Gee that made me chuckle. Thanks. They weren't thinking about Roman lol.

  • Love New Zealand music!! There should be more and it should be going global...

  • 0:43 love the greasy look - wonder where she is now. Better yet I wonder where car JTP 435 is? 0:41 :)

  • @napalm5 huh?

  • Someone I knew should have listened to this song !!

  • i smoked weed with Marc Hunter's son :D RIP Marc

  • this has nothing to do with Roman Polanski

  • @guyleclairemusic The comments are relating to the fact he had sex with a minor - hence "Are you old enough?"

  • If only Ricky Nixon had asked this question

  • @napalm5 she was 17 so he didnt need to, but i still laughed when i heard that

  • @napalm5 HAHA!

  • Before Foxtel had commercials (mid 90s) they'd play weird random things during ad breaks. Like this music video once came on , on TV1 or FOX8 , lol. Totally random.

  • awesome

  • loving the kingswood taxi at 1:05...

  • The reason this never made it in the USA is simple. This band sucked.

  • This song use to play out loud at Thirroul Beach NSW everyone had a great time

  • @phil123711 Hello from Thirroul!

  • Usually play this song on my ipod, when I take the train to work with school girls.

  • @SOYCD99

that comment reminded me of a friend of mine who found himself being propositioned by a 16 year old schoolgirl in his apartment. That was three years ago and they're still together and are now in the process of moving to Melbourne. Although I don't condone sleeping with schoolgirls, I can say that she's been the best girlfriend he has ever had and is mentally above her age, and seemingly smarter than her nearly-thirty-four year old other-half. I guess sometimes they are old enough

  • @nzoz1978 well, it might be love but i think they should both be shot. angry-miserable couples of the same age is what makes the world spin. happy couples with large age gaps are too good to be true and lets face it, life is meant to be miserable! she needs to be with a drug-abusing immature 20 year old boy with a mental problem and he needs to be with an angry thirty-something year old woman who criticises him and is always thinking she can do better. are you miserable enough! GOOD!

  • @MrRickSpence

Mate, what the fuck are you talking about? I checked your profile to find she's in your friendslist. I don't know if you know her in life or just added her to YouTube, but unless you know a situation I advise you not to be so judgemental. Hilarious how she just so happens to be in your friendslist and here you are making such harsh comments about her love life. Jerk!

  • @nzoz1978

Maybe I've got it all wrong but I reckon MRS's comments are supposed to be ironic.

Thanks for the rad upload btw :)

    Yours Sincerely,

    A drug-abusing, immature, 31 year old boy.

  • @TheElectrish God I hope so... the guy had jumped to my defense on my other uploads and fought people who made nasty comments towards me.

My mate and his 19 year old girlfriend are now living in Melbourne with her two sisters and two female friends. One nearly-34 year old man with five young females (oldest being 25, the youngest only 17)... I can only wish him luck.

  • @TheElectrish do you really abuse drugs? just curious!

  • @nzoz1978

I'd by lying if I said, 'no', but I think it's more of a technical drug addiction than a tabloid junkie nightmare.

All the best for your mate. Personally, I find it hard enough to get along with people my own age; I can't imagine having anything of relevance to say to a teenager! I really do wish them the best and I cast no dispersions on either of them. Further, I know it's not a question of respective age that alienates me from others - my thinking tends not to gel with populism ;)

  • @TheElectrish in response to your last sentence - same here. I deal with it by blocking most of the shit out. I choose what's best for me.... nobody in my life really gives a shit about my 'nzoz' project. Most haven't even had a look...

  • @nzoz1978

For what it's worth, seeing these clips (some for the first time) has meant a lot to me! I've got a copy of JJJs hottest 100 clips from 1991 (I think) - it's hosted by Maynard. It was originally taped on VHS but was then converted onto a series of DVDs. If you'd like a copy then hit me up in my inbox and I'd be happy to pass it on :)

  • @TheElectrish thanx for the offer, but I already got it on two VHS tapes. I recorded it off 'rage' circa 1990.

  • @MrRickSpence That is just brilliant ....your a perceptive funny bugger !

In addition -he could have said if its real ,i will see you in a couple of years ...and three years is still no great shakes - it usually takes about that long for a girl to stop making excuses and just get that intervention order .

Sadly males in our society are ignorant pricks ...but dragon is the reason i am here ! Just wanted to say your a funny bugger ! cheers !

  • love this song

  • yes im old enough!

  • Me and my band played this song not ten minutes ago, The ladies really enjoyed it.

    Taihape thanks!

  • i'm good friends with todd's son, nicest guy ever!

  • Gem of a song, gem of a video, a window on better times, all those Holdens etc, take me back!

  • @Pullisto takes me back to mate where has all the good stuff gone

  • @Pullisto here here. a better time all round which gen Y people will never understand.

  • Very very cool

  • I was so sad years ago when I heard of Marc Hunter passing away...I felt a terrible loss because well, mainly because I adored him because of this gorgeous song. I thank him for one of my favourite songs! No one else could do this song any better. It's the whole package - you know, it has to be sung with a certain attitude. He's burning the candle at both ends but he's still asking "

Are you old enough?" Love you Marc

  • @chameleonfrog1 we sure dont get songs sung like this anymore, thats for sure. Brilliant performance.

  • My favorite from this fantastic band.

  • I remember the days of underage drinking and the band singing this to myself and my friends, lol those were the days, now it is not fun to be underage in pubs.

  • As I was going home one day, I met Marc and Todd when they were unpacking their van and setting up for a gig at QIT (QUT now) in Brisbane. They were nice enough to stand and chat with me for a few minutes though they were obviously busy. Very tall lads.

  • @leglessinoz amazing story there thanks for sharing it. RIP Marc.

  • RIP Marc Hunter. Bloody Legends, and Kiwis too boot. God defend NZ

  • rock on kiwis and aussies!!!

  • KIds tehse days have no idea what they miss. friday adn Saturday night you could see a sensational Aussie band in just about any pub. Now all you see is card and pokie machines.

  • @mcjzfamily too bad that dragon aint australian then ae

  • Miss you terribly Mark <3<3<3 RIP oxo

  • @mmb054 I miss Marc too...he was a beautiful man! Saw Dragon perform Feb '90 with Elton John.

  • Great Nz/Tasmanian band.same thing!!!!

  • I loved Dragon .... and choppy2mella my brother Guy went to Dulwich Hill High in the mid 1970's !

  • remember dragon coming in their white valiant sedan to Dulwich High in sydney and the great senior high concert they did for us in the mid "70's truly memorable..............

  • make that about mid to late '70's

  • i only remember Marc & Todd and their band. Awesome!

From an old fart who makes somewhat of a liviving playin guitar in Hong Kong

  • any body out there remember them playing the Royal Tiger in Wellington in the mid 70's

  • Roman Polanski should have listened to this song.

  • @ryno99 LOL

  • @ryno99 hahahaha!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ryno99 likewise with silvio berlusconi and ricky nixon

  • @ryno99 LOL...!!!! And Woody Allen for that matter, mate....

  • I saw Dragon in Feb '90. Marc Hunter was awesome! Adore Jon Stevens too. More NZ hotties please!

  • Are You Old Enough? the song on the lips of every youth in yr 9 @ school? LOL

  • Aahhh , great memories....Brunswick street, Melbourne's old green trams, HR Holdens and kingswoods,Girls in fur coats.

1:53 The drummer looks really stoned

  • we like to joke about the New Zealanders as much as they like to joke about us Aussies but they are our closest TRUSTED neighbors i only have to say the acronym ANZAC -Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, they fought with us against the Turks in 1915 at the Battle of Gallipoli during World War I. and that is something we wont forget. If China decided to invade NZ we would be there to stop the Chinese stealing the sheep and the Kiwi fruit.. u cant go wrong having a Maori warrior on yer side

  • They fought with you against the Turks in 1915? How old are you?

"If China decided to invade NZ we would be there to stop the Chinese stealing the sheep and the Kiwi fruit"

Why would China go to war for the sake of Kiwi fruit? They have dragon fruit, you know.

  • Do they have any real fruits there...or don't the yellow party recogise gays?

  • chur bro, nice comment. no good having a aboriginal warrior, have a maori one, we got ya back

  • This goes to show that Mr. Asia's coke causes bands to sing about statutory rape.

  • That's the question Roman Polanski always failed to ask. Now look at what happened.

  • Spot on. What about Dragon doing a song- Do you like Quaaludes?

  • LOL, but I do feel bad for him, seeing as his pregnant wife was killed by the Manson family.

  • Surely he knew.

  • @motelcalifornia ..Personally, I think Polanski knew exactly how old the person was he was with, and that was why he chose her. I tend to think there was little confusion in that regard, on his part. Granted, that's just what I think. ;)

  • Music is just another Universal language, music touch your soul not your race. Anyway I love australian's sense of humor.

  • ok, i dunno, but just wonder, this whole kiwi/aussie rock thingy............. for as long as they were successful at attaining recognition that they so desired, did it really matter WHICH country they came from??? I mean get real folks for as long as they churned out the fantastic tracks that they did over the years for all to enjoy, to me i dont think it matters where they are from be that kiwi or aus.....

    oh and....ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH???

  • you aussies are always trying to steal our bands . E.G. crowded house, evermore, dragon, split enz to name a few.

  • Statedick, Stop acting the drongo, the bands all made Oz home, get over it.

  • Absolutely. And lets not forget Russell Crowe. The reality is, and it hurts me to say this, NZ isn't really a country. More an Australian territory.

  • dragon

  • Classic song - reminds me more of Melbourne than NZ though.

  • Kiwis come good in Aussie land eh bro?.

  • I love this song!!

  • an im thinkin bout my baby lookin at my life goin right

  • lookin' at my life going by.

  • I bet the Kiwis wish they had a band this good.

  • It's really a shame things happend the way they did for the members of Dragon. Tons o' potential- gone in a line of powder.

A truely great song, I'm personally surprised you don't hear it on the old-timer radiostations.

  • OMG are you serious? this is over 30 years old now. Wow always will be a KIWI, long live Dragon.

  • el supremo. aussie for bloody brilliant

  • Sorry to disappoint but they are Kiwis. Well Aussies and Kiwis should experience the music together, we had the best music.

  • without a doubt. loved here as much as home

  • mr marcus rules,

  • Go the ANZAC spirit!

  • haha, dragon, good old ENZED rock band, remember growing up listening to dragon while my parents were partying in the shed, lol

  • Fuckin oath, Not bloody aussies, they moved to australia (id say for money / fame / herion )

  • Based on population size, musicians could make about as twice as much money in Aussie than they could in NZ. In the U.S.the sky's the limit but you could count the number of NZ groups that have had major success there on one hand.

  • :( now i feel sad lol

  • I gave your comment a "thumbs up". I hope that makes you feel better. lol

  • It's getting to the point where moving from one to the other is a bit of a moot point - sooner or later NZ will just be another part of AU ;)

  • The likelihood of that happening is the same as the likelihood of Iraq becoming part of the U.S...

  • good good song!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuk how i luv dis song

  • I like things

  • i work with the girl in the brown jacket. still as gorgeous as ever,30 years on. :)

  • Wow... really? I've always wondered about her.

Nice to know she's still doing well.

  • Can you ask her to post a comment? Must be nice to be in a classic vid for a classic song...

  • Yes, filmed in Melbourne - Opening scenes in Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

  • can't get enough of this song. are the street scenes filmed in new zealand?

  • Melbourne I think :o)

  • Forget one of the best songs by a New Zealand band. One of the best songs ever. Period!

  • 1978 that's 31 years ago. I think she's old enough now.

  • Bass guitarist yeah , he does a bit doesnt he?

"FEAR DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS DOJO"

  • even looks like he's got the kobra kai uniform on

  • Probably the best song ever produced by a New Zealand band.

  • no, the Clean have that distinction

  • I said "song". Which song are you referring to? (I want to check it out)

  • The Clean did 'Tally Ho' and 'Beatnik'...

  • another kiwi classic

  • Haaaa,it looks like Melbourne is it??My home town, you have excelled AGAIN,NZOZ,you are truly brilliant, with excellent taste in music.♥

  • What a great era!! Classic, a real classic!

  • MMMMMMMM, this is why I hate the pokies in Adelaide pubs as much as i do. I remember the days of actual entertainment from bands on Friday and Saturday nights! Dragon was a pub band, as can be seen by this clip. Blow up the pokies!!!!!

  • Thanks for this. Great song.

  • Maybe a little old, but still really good, thanks.

  • thats more clearier than the other 1 ... very good, thankyou.

  • the best band of the era with the best singer and what a spunk he was RIP Marc you were the best!

  • Such a sad but wonderful person R.I.P.
