i absolutly fucking hated that fucking plague on my whole life almost ,,,, oh the hours as a child bord shitless watching shit whilst being looked after by my grandparents and they wonder why we grow up so angry and dysfunctional soaps taking away life and fun times at least todays children wont have to suffer this shit no more
i live 10 mins away from sunhill in sw19.....my dad worked in the kitchen from about 95 -2000.......i regularly saw them film locally.....shame its all coming to an end.
@1997larsson Yeah, in complete agreement. Have these guys on the last few episodes credits and show them walking away for the last time or something like that would be a good send off since it's gone down hill.
RIP The Bill :( Things had started to go downhill a couple of years ago and the new theme tune was terrible! That's when the Bill lost its iconic status. On another note..the middle eight is amazing!
yes it does. My parents love watching the Bill but I think its on at 9pm & they lost interest .I lied it when burnside was in it. I didnt bother watching it anymore when he left. Do you remember his own series called Burnside? it was fab but wasnt on long which was typical
oh my goddddd so amazing, brings back so many memories of being allowed to stay up and watch the bill hahahaha, like a comment on another vid for these credits that themetune deffo signifies bedtime!!
I am glad I am not the only one how had to report to bed when this tune came on.
I remember once trying to convince my mum that it was the start and not the ending - Why? Ill never know - like she did know! - Proud Baby of the 80s lol.
A middle 8 is so called because it is a section in a song that tends to happen towards the middle of the song, and tends to be eight bars in length.
The purpose of this section is to break up the simple repetition of a verse/chorus/verse/chorus structure by introducing new elements into the song. This can be a new chord sequence and melody, maybe a big change in the arrangement of the song, or even an instrumental solo.
Just one question regarding the Thames TV logo at the end: What year were Thames living in? It was 1988, I think everyone had a colour TV, so why Thames *Colour* Production?
Sounds dated, 1998 was ok, but '01 would work now. RE The feet, they can't be used as female police in the UK don't wear the skirt any more as it was deemed sexist
Because the times, they have a-changed. Unfortunately, the powers that be always seem to decide that the best TV themes sound "old", and in the process of "modernising" completely butcher them. Same with almost every TV theme that's been.
The UK releases are terrible for the 30 minute episodes. The 1st 13 only have been released. In Australia they have released up to November 1990. Which is 226 episodes more than the UK.

Wow, only back then could you show a 1 minute 30 second end credit sequence. Could you imagine that now? Especially not on a 30 minute episode.

Maybe a good thing as the demise of the Bill looms that he wasn't there in its final episodes

AidanLunn 2 years ago
Yeah I don't know why. They didn't change their logo from 1969 to 1989 and I guess never got round to removing that from the end cap.

Indeed. I remember when I didn't just watch the Bill for the storylines and episodes but for the title screens as well.
Now it's just an over glamorised British version of C.O.P.S.
:(
