  • the music and everything scared the shit out of me as a child

  • @Timx4 This is a classic. Not a cellphone game.

  • @Timx4 The graphics in a classic 3D* horror game sound like your 2005 cellphone game, huh?

  • sweet gameplay. I've beat Alone 2 but never played the 1st one. I need to get on that quick!

  • Thanks for uploading all these 3DO game videos

  • It spawned the life of resident evil..

  • @SSCode09 actually no but capcom took the the game play.

  • kinda cool seeing a pc horror game on the tv

  • I don't understand it. The woman comes to the house, and suddenly she finds herself in the uppermost room?O_o WTF?????

Non the less, it was a great game ;) I have got it :D When I was young I was afraid of playing with this game :O :DD

  • omg i remember playin this game when i was about 5 or 6 years old with my dad on our fist ever pc ! i loved it!! <3 memoriesssss

  • i bought a 3do when these game was released

  • @JulianBo188 And I bet you felt like a huge dumbass for spending $700 on a poorly produced console with a severely limited amount of games, right?

  • @punkmonkey123 he could afford it, u jus jelly, poorfag

  • @TLKGuitarMan No, I'd rather have just bought a nintendo or sega console. Anything that actually played a nice large selection of games. Because I like my consoles to have longevity.

  • @punkmonkey123 bitch

  • @TLKGuitarMan B-| Deal with it.

  • a book

    a rifle

    an oil lamp

    a letter

    a bow

    a broken saber

being stranded in a haunted house

    $priceless$ ;)

  • This game had a great atmosphere to it. The graphics weren't so great but the game play had such a cool feeling, it was one of my faves

  • i first played this game when i was 5, scared the living fcuking shit out of me, it wasnt the game however, it was the music! fuck i love this game!

  • Even PS1 couldn't do these well of graphics. Ok maybe it could, but 3do was revolutionary, just ridiculously expensive at $700.

  • Wow interesting. So this is the "engine" Resident Evil took it from... pretty crazy for its time.

  • this game was creepy when i bought it back then :)

  • @Deidaaraartisabang Yeah I remember playing the game as the sun sets down gently. I get into the game, when I come to realize.. IM ALONE IN THE DARK!!!

  • MERAVIGLIOSO

  • Good ole 3DO, I loved that system, and I really loved this game.

The original survival horror. I never could get into the RE games though I tried on the PS1.

  • lololololololololi couldnt stop laughing at it... everything about it looks funny and glitchy. man games came along way... but they couldnt have without great classicsl ike this.

  • the original survival horror game

  • this used to scare me when I was young :\ that doggy that comes out from the window..used to scare the hell out of me...

  • @SwayTechNique It's a giant bipedal rat-like creature

  • I used to have the "Goldstar" copy of the 3do. God I miss those days of gaming!

  • Wow, back to a classic. This was perhaps THE game that spawned survival horror as we know it today.

  • @Resimaster sure was

  • @Resimaster yeah dude, they should remake this game for the new gen consoles the way they did resident evil for the gamecube.

  • @Resimaster I think you mean the survival horror we knew in the 90's back when the games were about true horrors, not the 3rd person shooters disguising themselves as horror games that we see today

  • @Miyakolover Yeah, I considor the original Resident Evils and Silent Hills to be the pinacle of survival horror. The new ones arent even good at disguising it! haha

  • @Resimaster Thier main problem is that they focus on action more than horror and tension

  • @Miyakolover Exactly. Thats because the majority of gamers today just want to play Call of Duty repeatedly so they can shoot their mates online over, and over, and over again.

  • @Resimaster I have nothing against shooters personally, but don't we have enough already? I mean we have CoD sequels, Halo sequels, Gears sequels, Homefront, Killzone, Crysis, Medal of Honor, Bulletstorm, Vanquish, and not only that, many games like SH and RE are copying that free aim mode and melle attacks from these games while they shouldn't, problem is that people nowadays just love war and shooters sell, that's why we don't get many unique or different games nowadays

  • @Resimaster totally agree. i have this game to thank for my affinity for 3rd person survival horror. i scared myself shitless playing this on my 3DO back in the day. however i never finished it b/c i got caught in a bathroom one time, got killed by a zombie and kept respawning with low health in the same spot and dying immediately. pity. maybe if my 3DO still worked i'd revisit it.

  • God she's beautiful. I normally don't go for blonds but...... she's great. Oh no! it's Jimmie Hendrix and he's trying to kill her!

  • This game was awesome, i was never able to beat it because some of the puzzles were to cryptic for me. Maybe i'll give it another chance sometime.

  • This was a decent port. The framerate was sluggish compared to the PC version, but it was at least tolerable, especially with the remixed music added to enhance the experience. Possibly one of the few good reasons to own a 3DO these days.

  • Better than the 2008 version, i mean A.I.T.D. (5), I just wisht they bring this one back with option of original and updated graphics ,gameplay and music (keep the music the same as well) that would be awesome , the story and the music in this one is way better than 2008 game, i also like it when there is a choice between two characters.

  • i am dreaming for a remake for years.....

  • This game was inspired in the literature of H. P. Lovecraft.

  • alone in the drak tak jak resident evil jest ślimaczo wolny więc nie rozumiem co w nim strasznego

  • good times!

  • i cant beleive interplay went bust when they had games like this, casper, earthworm jim and ofcourse the fallout series on their books i mean come on all there games where great how did they go bust,oh well there coming back now

  • you know, I've wondered the same thing. if you haven't, try planescape torment

  • Looks like resident evil

  • Anyone know the name of infograms game where you start of seeing this girl getting burned and an axe come into a guys window and then he realise he must find this girl by going to a museum and then he travels back in time.

  • ah i remember this when i was really young i was really scared i can remember my brother didnt know how to stop the 1st purple thing that comes through the window we ran through the house falling through the floor and all we gave up lol

  • ahh good times

  • The closeup of the frog is a CRITICAL PLOT POINT.

  • I remember in this game that there was this book that killed you and some of the words "kutulu fatang hiyaa hiyaa!!!!"

And if anybody is playing the new version you are in for a surprise.

    Also 0:45 Frogs face ftw

  • Oh man I remember this game! It was by far (one of) the best games on the 3DO system (The very first Need for Speed was good too).

I found a used copy of this game (or something simalar) in a second hand store once. Only it was the Japanese version. I think it was called Dr. Houzer or something. I don't remember what I ever did with that game now.

  • You looking at the grandfather of survival horror here folks. This game is one of the main reasons why games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and other great survival horror games exist today, bow down!

  • sigh i remember sinking many hours into this game.however, ''grandfather '' huh, .maniac mansion holds that title, though this game redefined the genre.

  • Jeeze...i Remebere the NIGHTMARES this game gave me as a kid, but not just from the Scary Music or the like, but the game play! Like accidently saving in the cave, when you DIDN'T unlock the damned basment door when the bridge fell.. URG! So many hours...

LOVED the game though..still wish I had my 3D0

  • I did EVERYTHING, but ran out of oil before reaching the big tree; it took me weeks before I realized how to beat the game, and I had to do everything again :(

  • i don't know why but when i first saw the car a ogt phisicly ill.

  • Thanks to this game... we have resident evil aka bio hazard, good game.

  • Looks like Runescape.

  • wow look at her face, she put lipstick all over it, and took her eyes out and glues them to her cheeks, and this game looks slow an funny

  • dude, keep it down o_O

  • The person is just showcasing the game jeez. It's not a Let's Play.

  • Maybe games would be scary again if they tried making the characters look like Origami paper Dolls, or some sort of stop motion type creation. Because I think what makes this game so spooky then was part environment and part abstraction character design.

  • as you are good at playing, you are slooooow. you spent 50% of the time on menus! in 8 minutes you can almost go to the caverns, if you do fast!

  • lol so the first thing she does is straight up start robbing them lol

  • i swear resident evil copied this

  • lol dude this whole game is the reason Resident Evil exists. MANY games copied this. Rejoyce!!

  • Sillent hill copied it too.

  • Oh, man, I LOVED this game. It was one of the few GOOD games I had for 3DO before it became obsolete. Thanks for posting this!

  • Wow i havent seen this game since i was a kid. I remember it scared the shit out of me lol ( i was 6 or 7 at the time) All i remember was something jumping through that window and the moment she pushed that closet in front of the window i felt really stupid cause i remember getting killed there a million times. lmao

  • just found my old 3do system and 2 games did a search for top 3do games this was #2, so any of you out there agree? think its worth finding on flee-bay?

  • No doubt, it's an amazing game!

  • It looks like the PC version, I say go for it!

  • if the saber brakes doesn't that screw you over?

  • I believe you can still use the separate pieces to active the secret entrance to the catacombs, but it can't be used anymore as a full weapon for sure.

  • yeah u just use the two pieces you're right but no it doesn't screw u over

  • haha the oil can is called "an oil can"

  • I need help tryin to find a game thats on PC. Its quite old cus i played it as a kid.

At the start you find the key to the haunted house inside a pumpkin i think. then you go inside and if you go into a certain room there if a dinner party and a vampire kinda gets you.

    Heh.. please help.

  • hugo's house of horrors

  • i could never get past the first part when i was little.

  • same here i was like 8 and a purple thing jumped through the window

  • omg i was in fourth grade and i played this and i still remember the attic part and dying.

  • corpse transformed to the purple bubbles?? huh? o_O

  • This looks exactly like the PC version. I remember how stunning this game was when it came out! :)

  • Did this game come out for something else other than the PC? if so please tell me.

  • Yes. I have it on the 3DO game system.

  • Lol this looks better than the pc version

  • wow this was an awesome game! I just love it when your Carnbey and you get hurt he makes that OI! sound lol

  • This game used to scare me on the 3DO! It's comical how slow the controls are now but this game led the way for Resident Evil as RE perfected this idea.

  • Wierd, the PC version has this music on the audio CD, but when youre playing it, the music sounds a lot crappier. The music on the audio CD sounds just like this.

  • @crims0nf0rtune There are two PC versions actually, the floppy disk version and the CD-ROM version. The CD-ROM version uses the same audio CD music as this 3DO version (since it was converted from the PC CD-ROM version), while the floppy versoin, which is the original, uses synth music. This must be what you call "crappier" music.

  • Does a demo of this game come with Out of this World because I got one and didn't know it at first and would spend hours tring to pass the first room because it wouldn't let you go down the stairs.

  • Awsome, awsome, awsome game. My sis and I used to play it all the time trying to get farther and farther into the game, finally beating it. We were so excited as we neared the end after months of play.

  • where the hell was she putting all that stuff?...It doesn't bear thinking about...

  • This is still my all time favorite horror game, people don't know that actually Resident Evil copied this game.

  • 3DO was ahead way before it time i feel sorry that we chose 2d games for a long time, because 3do came out in 1990. We would have been in a lot better game console by now, if 3do would lower the price from $700 to $200 because i came acorres one of theses console when i got my frist playstation and I can't tell the diffent .If you cant play Teken one and see what I mean okay .

  • "Oh God Bopmofo!" Captcon more or less based Resident Evil from this game. The creator of Resident Evil and Devil may cry series, was a big fan of Alone in the Dark. So he copy that series, and make his own version which was called Biohazard in Japan, and here in America Resident Evil. You can go look up the history of Resident Evil. It's all there.

  • i remember when you were the chick in this game you were able to bitch slap all the zobies with that loud ass impact sound

  • What's with her big red lips?!

  • That saber blade sure put the ka *SMACK* down on that zombie!

  • Can you make more of these Alone in the Dark videos please? Thanks! ^__^

  • Man! This game used to scare the shit outta me when I was a pup but over it now of course. Sheesh! Why didn't I think of this walkthrough?! How stupid of me! All I ever did was fight the monster from the window with my bare fists! ^_^;;; Well at least I killed it though. ^_~

  • Somebody upload a whole run of this game (on 3do of course)!

  • Is the resemblance of Biohazard/Resident Evil to this game just a coincidence?

  • actually resident evil resembles to this

  • This is the franchies that inspired the RE gameplay.. But few knew about this franchies so they thought RE was so original.

"wesz0r (6 days ago) Lol this looks better than the pc version."

Most games that were on both the 3do & PC looked better on the 3DO.

Like space hulk, killing time, road rash... 8)

  • Even with the technology at the time, they could have made Emily look better by not making her lips so large.

  • The original start to survival horror. Yeah!!!

  • Not true. There was a game in 1989 called Sweet Home. It was probably the first. AITD was the first to do a modern take with pre-rendered scenes, and polygon models. AITD was a revolutionary and inspirational game, but Sweet Home precedes it. I own pretty much every version of the original AITD. LOL.

  • Yueep. Sweet home was awesome and genuinely scary. AITD did a nice job of making the genre known and more accessible to everyone. ..well, in those days it counted as accessible.

  • Actually...no. Sweet Home wasn't the first. Friday the 13th NES precedes it by a few months, and Haunted House, way back on the Atari 2600, is probably the first "survival horror" game ever (as "survival horror" are just action/adventure games with horror story elements).

  • Oh you smartass...but you are right. :D That's the one with just the eyes in the darkness, right?

  • They don't pose as Atari, the company were brought by Atari. They made quite a few good games beside Alone in the Dark.

  • Always loved the feel and overtone of this game.. Music was awesome too.

  • Did that zombie at 6:51 not see that woman? Was that even a zombie?

  • no it was the butler

  • thanks for posting! I love this game since i was 4 years old!! great!

  • all 3DO games was astoled by sony !

  • this game ruled

  • Breaking the saber is no good idea, is needed later lol

  • The armadillo makes me laugh!

  • Remember when my brother used to play this....ooooh the memories!

  • I have a pentium 4, I download the game, but the sound doesn't work, i changed many configuration but doesn't work, somebody have a idea what is the problem?, exist a software that can simulate the true sound? please helpme that i want remember this fantastic game but without sound isnt so funny.

  • Heh heh, man...I thought these graphics were incredible back in the day.

It's too bad that Alone in the Dark made its debut on a failed gaming system - that really hurt its popularity, allowing Playstation's Resident Evil to swoop in and claim the title of Survival Horror king.

  • Actually, it made it's debuts on PC. It was only ported to 3DO.

  • i want to play this game ps im not a emo

  • so?

  • brings back memories eventhough i never got that

    far

  • it would be really nice to see walk through at this game

  • cool
