I'm curious... You see a lot of cocktails where you actually fill the entire glass with ice(e.g. a highball glass) -- but at home when I make myself a Blind Russian I've come to notice I actually jst want 2 ice cubes instead of the standard 4 because, for me, it makes it water way to rapidly. Is this just me or do any of you also have this 'problem'? I'm a drinker no doubt and I can handle my liquor so I naturally like a strong drink. I tend to get a lot more vodka than Kalua in my Blind Russian
A very helpful tool is a hammer ... I put ice cubes in a kitchen towel and hammer on it firmly .... with a little practice, you get very nice crushed ice with this method ;)
@lilgriffguy FunkyMonk has the right idea, just remember the one conversion ratio 1oz=30mL. I have seen shots/parts measured in jiggers ranging from 25mL, 30mL, and even 50mL. If your jiggers aren't all the same it could lead to some consistency problems. I think a shot is more a reference to a single drink of something, where parts give proportion and then the actual volume measurement doesn't matter. (I've used little plastic medicine cups out of necessity lulz)Cheers!
Experts with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association say that though these studies do show some benefits to moderate drinking, the health risks from alcohol consumption far outweigh the potential rewards.

Dude, trust me, go out and get yourself a cocktail with an egg in it. It is AWESOME. Egg whites make a drink all frothy and thick, almost like a milkshake. It's rad. They'll probably only be prepared to do this for you at more of an upscale bar. A bar when the bartender might be dressed like the man in this video.
I was lucky enough to have Eben make me a cocktail a few months ago at Taylor using his "hard shake" method. Eben is a fantastic class act and a master mixologist who makes my cocktails look like something I assembled with a kids sippy cup and a beach pail. He's an absolute class act.
Mr. Freeman is a true mixologist--the real deal.

A shot is officially 1 1/2 ounces. If an ounce is 30ml, then a shot would be 45ml.
Cheers, fellas.

Man, if I were just starting out with bartending, my head would be spinning. This is all you need to start out:
Boston shaker set
Hawthorn Strainer
long mixing spoon
paring knife
small cutting board
Wood muddler
hand lemon/lime squeezer
Ice scoop
measuring jigger. (OXO makes a great little jigger that measures from 1/4 oz up to 2 oz, eliminating the need for having several jiggers on hand)

the first thing he said was "You don't really need all of this.

Prairie Oyster? It's a hangover cure that consists of a raw egg, worsteshire sauce, tabasco sauce, salt and pepper.

many cocktails call for eggs, probably the most well known being brandy eggnog. I also personally like to add an egg to a Gin Fizz

Egg whites add froth to a drink. It's mainly used in classic cocktails.
TBTVJohnnyJohnny 3 years ago
drinks like algarrobina or pisco coco use just 1 part of the egg, algarrobina use yolk and pisco coco use white.
