it's funny because the dutch accent sounds like ... exactly like a north american accent. so it just sounds (to me, since i'm canadian) that she's speaking gibberish in a north american accent.

i guess that's why her english sounds so good, she didn't really have to learn a new accent!

well, she has an accent when she speaks dutch too XD it's souds like american..she comes from a place called Friesland..and that is obviously a place in The Netherlands, but they don't speak Dutch there..they speak Fries..so that's how she had this American accent.

Yes indeed that´s true I also come from Friesland. Its not a place but a region, wich used to be a country (hence the ...land) in war with Holland (before The Netherlands united) They have a very old language that also is at the base of English. When I was younger a couple of language specialist visited our village to investigate the language as they believed it to be the oldest direct cource of the English language. Friesians have the same intonation and voice colour as lots of North Americans

@omgcrayonz: Yeah, Dutch is very similar to English.

In terms of pronunciation, the R is identical to the American R - strongly pronounced but not trilled.

The Dutch accent is however extremely hard and pronunciation is harsh whereas Doutzen speaks very softly so it's more comparable to how English is spoken.

Doutzen is so polite... she doesn't seem typically Dutch. Ppl from NL are great but don't seem to value social politeness as much.

Actually, at some point of the video she reminded me of Marilyn. The way she smiles while speaking and the way she moves her eyes is very marilyn. She isn't that flirty, though.

She's more natural, but in a good way! She's withdrawn and a little bit shy. And she's very sweet and deep. I always feel like I know her. I hope she never changes.
