Well, bless my soul. I had previously asked if this was written by Carol King. It turns out that it was written by Otis Redding in the 60s as part of a man's plea for respect. Comes along feminism and it becomes a feminist anthem done by Aretha Franklin. It has also been done by Janis Joplin. It has quite a history as a crossover hit from R&B roots.
I like how Reba did this....she broke the rules of country....she basically did something to show she was growing in her music! Shows diversity and what influenced Reba as a person!!
I believe Reba covered this song on the Arsenio Hall show. A performance that showed the range of her talent. Hopefully that vid, will make to you tube. Along with here Austin City Limits performance of the Tennessee Waltz, solo, with no instruments.

This is way better than Aretha Franklin's version. Reba's voice has soul, but she doesn't have Aretha Franklin's disgusting tone or screechy voice.
