Don't get it just for the looks, this game is amazing, and VERY VERY underated. It's the best single player game of our times just behind Half Life 2 IMO.

Yeah it would all depend on personal preferences. Although Half Life 2 gave me the most amazing gaming moments in my life, nothing compares to the feeling of hearing the STALKERs playing the guitar around a campfire after defeating an army raid or some creepy-ass monster. Damnit this game is a gem.

I cant access the Float32 page, it seems to be broken. I was just there yesterday looking around, and it appeared the mod was complete or near complete. Besides that, has anyone tried the WEATHER OVERHAUL or REALISM GRAPHICS MOD. The WEATHER OVERHAUL looks pretty good, its supposed to sharpen up a lot of textures, too, and add a more realistic sun. Sounds exciting!

As far as I know the only bugfixes were multiplayer related, let me know if Im right, I been thinking of moving to 1.0005. Most of the mods are beginning to upgrade to it anyways.

Sorry for triple posting. But I think the most my PC can handle is 4 GEG of RAM. Still it was cheaper just to add to the RAM I already have.

I finally have my extra RAM! Actually I just tried it MAXED GRAPHICS at 1280x1024, full AA too. The game runs perfectly smooth, and a lot better than before. I am a little intersted in the FLOAT32 mod, but I have the latest patch 1.0005US. Not sure I would want to sacrifice bug fixes for a mod, going bacl to 1.0004US. Ill have to re-read what the bug fixes were on the latest.

Actually the extra 1 GEG is all I can afford now. When I get the new ones later today, its going to be 4 x 512MB RAM. Currently I have 2 512MB Corsair XMS Series 3200C2PRO. I ordered to compatible, but not exactly the same, becasue the exact ones I already have where very difficult to find at all.

One thing I fear about graphic enhancing and texture mods, is how even if they are supposed to make one part of the game look better, what if something doesn't look quite right in another part of the game. As long as its not directly associated with the games textures, I might try it. Becasue the games graphics and textures are the develoers signature style. Somethign I wouldnt want to change too much.

I know exactly what you mean I like playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

As far as I know, Float 32 doesn't modify anything except shaders, like bloom, shadows, things like that.

I have a AMD 64Bit w/ a Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT at 256 MB. I currently have only 1 GEG of RAM, and maxing graphics caused lag in single player, in the outdoor areas. Does anyone think an extra geg of ram is enough to make the game run a lot smoothing, or should I be looking for a better graphics card? I should know by tomorrow night when I recieve my extra 1 GEG of RAM. But in case you see this before I do.

Most likely it will, the reason it lags outside is because your computer is allocating a lot more textures and all the things going on throughout the map, so an extra gig of RAM should really smooth things out.

Have you tried the Float32 mod? It pretty good at smoothing minor stuttering out.

7600s are pretty bad.

If you'd want good graphics you'd go for an 8800, 7900, or wait for the new 9800s.

I'd strongly suggest saving up for either of those cards.

If not, just go for a 8600 GT or GTS, they are pretty good too.

I can run Stalker on objects dynamic rendering with bloom and antialiasing with about 1024x768 resolution on my AMD Dual core, Nvidia 8500. So your definetly close to what you need.

But, Stalker is a ram devouring beast, so you MIGHT, want to think about a bit more RAM, depending on how much you already have.

your card is verry old and entry level and for that graphics you need at least 2 gb of ram. And, finaly, your graphics card doesn't support HDR, for 100 euro you can do an upgrade to play the game at that level.
