The stupidity of some people is just unbelievable... if you use regular tires all year long and they last for let's say 2 years, so in 4 years you use 2 sets of tires. By buying a set of winter tires and using them from november till march, would make your tires last 4 years, that means, you'd still need 2 sets in 4 years, only you'd have safer winter, cose one of those would be a set of winter tires. Plus in the US they cost 30% less than in Europe...
@KornelBerkes maybe in the countries where the streets are always cleaned from snow and ice it's ok to go with allseason tires but were i live there is a coat of 20 cm of snow and ice on the roads, with regular tires u would slide. Winter tires are a must for the winter season.
@Jimpank90 most cars these days do not have clutch pedals though, as everyone wants either an automatic so they don't have to learn to drive a stick or they want an automated manual (aka flappy paddle/dsg/dual clutch) so they don't have to fuss with a clutch pedal. Its very dangerous really, but I drive every winter in all season tires in a volvo. Of course I rarely see more than 3 inches of snow on the ground, if I was in CO I would have a set of winter tires.
@johnnyo032003 What do you mean by CO? Some short for a state or something? And as you might understand i am not from america and i drive my volvo 960 with regular manual transmission.
Too true. I buy standard tyres to my budget and I don't drive like fuckwit, I manage pretty well even in deep snow, Winter tyres a great but no substitute for driver experience.
@cabbagesftw ... the only problem is, that winter tires doesn't mean tires for snow, but for winter conditions, like cold weather, or you think cold and wet roads are like wet roads in the summer? :)
@12valvepower1 Not really. All wheel drive doesn't do much without these driving techniques. Did you not hear what he said about All Wheel Drive being able to skid too? You still need winter tires and driving control in an AWD car. I spun a Subaru Legacy in the snow once (of course I was trying to be a showoff at the time too but still...)
I've Liked this Video... I only wish the hamfisted drivers around Pinehurst and Aberdeen, NC would check this Video out when it starts snowing here... I've had some idiots talegate me 2 FEET FROM MY BUMPER ON ICE!!! Idiots... Also I've seen some very bad drivers here where I live. I only wish they could drive as good as they speed!!!
@SgtRevan In many cars, you'll get something called lift-off oversteer. What happens is that you shift the weight too suddenly off the rear wheels, with the rotational momentum, which causes you to swing the rear of the car around. This is especially bad in cars that drive the front wheels (FWD mostly, but AWD to some degree), since the front wheels may start to engine brake, compounding the issue.
or if u have a front wheel drive n u start going off course, rip the e-brake and drift the turn baha. saved my ass some couple times. why should i stop int he middle of the road if I start sliding. at least keep moving
really badly explained .. not clear instructions and definitely bad video ... if you were driving every day in these winter conditions .. you would never be driving like this as shown in the video ... bad previews of turns .. good techniques but badly done .. actually the right techniques just not clearly shown
@nickikz brakes = stop, need stop quickly = brake hard. That's common sense. However, you never ever want to do that in snow. If people don't drive in snow often, snow is a whole different beast.
Why heck do u wanna drive that fast

When you loose grip with any car, lift off the gas and press down the clutch and parry the slide with the steering, as simple as that.

Why do they say get off the gas slowly? Why not get off the gas completely and catch the car before it can get out of control?
