this is amazing! Is Digital Apprentice the program? Now could I ask a question? Is this done frame-by-frame or is it something like a computer version of stop-motion animation?

Digital Apprentice is only the name of the webside and this is a preview of a trainings DVD about Key-Frame Animation in Maya.
Autodesk Maya is the 3d Program that was used in the video.
It was used for movies like Star Wars, the lord of the rings, Peter Jackson's King Kong etc...
