I knew Mr. Irvin he owned a junk yard just a few Hundred yards northeast of a Small Family owned Country Slaughterhouse owned by The lace family that my grand parents worked at when I was Kid just south of Hartwood Va just off Route 17 just do north of Fredericksburg Va in Stafford county Va, As I understand Smitty taught Roy Clark to play the Banjo, I never meet Roy Clark but I do remember Smitty , Smitty just past away few years ago! The Name of the Band was Called the mountaineers
I watched these guys before I went to work every morning in the mid 1950's. Smitty was one of my early influences to take up the banjo. Great footage! Thanks for posting.
