i have seen a few of these vids and have noticed that all-most all of them have that particular type of SUV/pickup.
so my question is, is there something in the design of the vehicles that allows the driver to do this or is it a carefully calculated weight distribution or some other after market modification?

Not sure about the suspension.
Probably need to have a limited slip of locking diff.. Open end diff. wouldn't work, the wheel in the air would spin & get all the power.
